Wow! 9 miles??? That is great.

I can see you are runner but it will be good if you do not do too much too soon, since I think you are just coming back into running since almost 20 years. It is good if you follow the plan in the program as scheduled, it will help you to be well rested and be a better 5k runner. Maybe now you can be working on your speed since it looks you are already a distance runner (you overcome the endurance part already)

hi i'm new here and i did my first time yesterday and went 9 miles for two just happened it wasnt' my goal i was out with an experienced runner ...and we did mostly trails...then we went to the high school track and i timed my run...just did a few laps but my one lap was approx 3 min. not so great but not bad i guess since last i truly ran was in the military in 1995. it was such a beautiful day out so nice...couldn't help myself...i am a bit sore today but i think i will run regardless should i stay on week 1? I plan on doing about 6-9 miles one day on the weekends keeping on consistancy. I'm thinking of still trying to run during the week for an hour every day
