I think you can do this, it is more in your mind.

I did the running in 8 weeks before coming here and before then I never walked a 5k but I could walk for 30 mins without stopping.

You can do it and trust me you can.

While the program is called "c25K", I look at it slightly differently. At the end of the "five weeks" (more on that later), I want to be running more than I'm walking. I'm not looking hard at distance and I'm also not trying to run a 5k without stopping. For me, this program is about getting back to jogging than about actually running a 5k in 40minutes.

Also, while the program is 5 weeks long, there is no reason NOT to loop back on weeks. I started on December 17 (I think) and I just started week 5 yesterday. When my body started hurting or my motivation went down, I stayed in the week I was already in for an additional week. I will still earn my trophy and still complete the program - just in slower, safer way for me and my body.

So to answer your question: if you want to start jogging, yes! this is for you, in your own way, at your own pace.

I'm contemplating starting this program. Is it for me? It says you need to be able to walk 30 mins before starting. On a good day I can walk 45 mins at a pace of 2.5-2.7 mph on the treadmill on bad days I can walk 30 minutes at that same speed. I am about 71 pounds overweight... for my height I'm still considered severely obese by my bmi even though I'm down 56 pounds.

What worries me the most is how can I start this program if I'm not sure I could even walk a 5K. I thought I was dying doing 2 miles on the treadmill... although maybe it was because my speed was more like 2.7mph that day. Maybe if I had gone slower I could have done 3 miles or so. Should I attempt to walk a 5k before attempting this program? Or in other words is it recommended that you can or are able to walk a 5K before starting this program?
