Hay! I actually have the C25K official app and yes it has voice cues that says like time to run, and ok now walk it out. it tells you everything as you go and even plays your music threw the app. it its a great app.

When I got to week two tho it was too much I could barely do week one. sooo I repeated week one again and still couldnt do week two yet.

I downloaded zombies 5k. I love zombies so its right up my alley. it starts of slower and works you up better in my opinion. it has voice cues but it also has a story line, youre one of very few survivors in the zombie apocalypse and you must learn to run faster in order to go on missions with the others. you are runner 5 and are now staying in a town called abel.

I am now on week 2, today is my last day of week two, and I love it.

Week one is 15 second run 1 min walk repeated 10 times. there is a 10 minute warm up walk where you are instructed to walk fast enough so that you have to breathe heavy but not too fast to ware yourself out. then after the run walk drills there is a 10 minute free form run you can run walk or jog as you please. then at the end of that it instructs you to stretch and what not. week two is qo min warm up walk 30 seconds run 5 heel ups, then 45 second walk repeated 5 times with a 30 minute freeform run walk jog whatever. my first day on the app I walked the entire 10 minute freeform last night I probably ran a total of 3 minutes of it. the heel ups make your legs burn, but I know it will be worth it. a few times Ive stayed out longer then the apps saying to and just did my own run walk drills because I didn't feel tired enough.

not sure what week three will bring but I am excited for it. and the story line keeps me coming back since I love zombs, and I just want to know what is happening next. it keeps track of your speed and distance and what not.

thats my overall opinion on both apps for sedentary to 5k that I have tried.

I struggled with this for a long time and finally found a free App called "Interval Timer" that allows me to set up warm-up/cool-down along with the appropriate timing and repetitions that work for a C25k. It took me while to find something that worked for me.

Oh, this link takes you to the Pro version, I have the free version. If I ever actually mange to complete the whole C25k program, I'll upgrade. But so far, the free one is enough.

I'm not using an app but I use the treadmill and look at the time on it. So far it's working ok and helps me when i get tired to know maybe it's only a few more seconds of running so I hold on.

does anyone here use an app to train with? If so is there one out there that prompts you to switch from walking to running? I want to do a 5k but I am having trouble knowing when to switch and how to increase the time spent running. Thanks.
