Woke up today and the pain had gone away. Though instead of jogging, I power walked my morning workout.

It could very well be the hills. Take it easy for a few days and see if the ache subsides. Hopefully it will.

Did 2.5 miles yesterday, and woke up today with a sore left leg! It isn't swollen, just a annoying ache in the leg. Did I push to hard on the hills? Did I not stretch enough? The leg ache's with every step I take.
Anyone else have this or a similar problem?

I know. I'm working more on endurance than speed right now, even if I'm doing intervals. I know I'm doing better than I was. I walked the trails with a friend today and pointed out to her different milestones I had made on that trail. Doing that showed me how much I've improved in just a few weeks.

I finally wised up and timed my intervals. Once I did that, I figured out that I wasn't pushing hard enough on the running intervals and was going too long on the walking intervals. I may be slow, but I figured out it's coming out to a 10 minute mile, and I'm happy with that for right now.

I can run/walk for a 5k And I can bike 60 miles. I may not do either fast, but I will finish. I refuse to give up! emoticon

Right now I actually walk faster than I "run" .
Floating kneecaps and severe arthritis due to a car accident years ago means the stride used in running is more painful and has the potential of,shifting knees.

I have signed up for my first 5k at the end of this month and have decided my shuffle, run/walk stride that places less stress on my knees may look funny but it allowed me to do a 16 minute mile which is much faster than my 36 minute mile when I first started 2 months ago.

I may be one of the last people crossing the finish line, but I will finish!

Yeah, I have to remind myself, I'm just starting. I've been focusing on building endurance before speed. I figure once I can get all the way around the 2 mile track without stopping, then I will work on speed. And once I can get all the way around the 2 mile track without stopping, I will definitely be able to go faster than just walking. I just want to be better NOW! emoticon

I have been running since June 2009 and have completed 19 half marathons. My usual finishing time is 2:50 which to me is slow. I embrace it and forget about speed. When I fret and stew about it, that sucks the fun out of running for me. Don't let this bother you and with time, you WILL speed up.

That's also my pace. I think it's normal. Keep up the great work. I'll bet your legs look more muscular, which is one result of doing this. Just doing it makes you successful.

I've been going for a couple of weeks now. Tonight I got the bright idea to time myself. I can do 2.2 miles of run/walk intervals in 30 minutes. I can also just walk the 2.2 miles in 35 minutes. Why am I even trying to run if I'm this slow? emoticon
