You have to admire the man for one thing: he really knows how to make a speech. He holds the audience spellbound, while he spins his web of lies and deceit. He carefully picks his audience, making sure that the majority are all on his side. Any who disagree vocally are quickly removed. This was exactly the way Hitler was during his early years. Eventually, anyone who wanted to be around for awhile at least ACTED like they were on his team. To do otherwise was guaranteed to get you 'removed'. Permanently, at times. Is this the fate we face in the not so distant future? A little more demonoizing, a little more hatred of our cause, some discreet prosecution of 'rightist's' and we could soon be there. Shut down those annoying right-wing talk shows, belittle those fat cat 'wealthy' folks and soon all that's left are the entitlers. It's a grim and ugly prospect, folks, but one that is all too foreseeable. Those with enough of a mind to see the danger, but who still worship and adore the devil at their door will be the first to cry foul, when we end up as all the other 'reformed' nations have. We have an extremely important job ahead of us, and we must never waver in our efforts to throw the usurpers out. By voting them out, not, we hope, by any sort of violent means. Anyone who is fomenting that sort of scenario is promoting the kind of things we just saw in Phoenix. I don't know ANYONE who is pushing that agenda, aside from the lunatic fringe. We are all being watched very closely for that, these days. These are hard times for conservatives.

Learn from the mistakes of others. Life is too short to make them all yourself.

Listened to Sean Hannity today in car while doing errands 4-6, and he exactly expressed my same sentiments.

I tuned in late and heard all the hootin' hollerin' cheering and applause and I knew it had turned into another Wellstone memorial. Only watched about sixty seconds. Really made me sick. The fact that they handed out T-shirts with "Thrive to Strive" printed on them which is from his website told me this was nothing more than another opportunity to campaign. He is so un-Presidential. Can't wait for 2012, but he is so slick, he may just get re-elected. Heaven help us all!!!!

I haven't seen any video/TV, and just heard the 1st few mins when he was talking about each victim. Didn't hear the middle nor the end. I only heard, not saw, the wild applause. I'm sure he ate that up, which was inappropriate. But they were clapping, he wasn't; the audience who did that at HELLO at a MEMORIAL, should have been shamed and booed and shunned; it was grossly inappropriate and is indicative of "what's wrong with America today". That he has no class, no inate sense of decorum especially as should grace a POTUS, which he should have used said decorum to prevent and/or correct "rally atmosphere", speaks for itself.

As I said, the part I DID hear was good (for once all about the victims, not about himself), but, I didn't hear it all, didn't SEE any of it, and most importantly as I said, based on his past performance and the teleprompter etc, I know it was not from his heart, which is the important thing; I know his handlers wrote it. I am not God and don't know his heart, but "by their fruits you will know them". His fruit is plain and clear.

I don't listen to him. I won't listen to him. I only heard it because Mark Levin had it live about the last 5-10 mins of his show. I don't want to watch it. It would make me sick. The short part I heard, I give him high marks for. But that it is not from the heart, and that it is about tragedy in many peoples' lives and not from the heart, is what wounds me. He never acted like this after the enlisted Islamic terrorist killed those 13 people on the base, for example. His handlers have finally gotten a clue, THAT'S ALL, so that's the truth that hurts me.

I waited until this morning to post because had I done so sooner, you would have kicked me off the team for my words, you still may. I have always been one to say what I think. I will try to behave, so difficult for me. BO's may have come across "good", but I think it was awful! Like it was previously stated, that was no place for a pep rally. Had he been made of anything good he would have held his hand up and asked them to hold the applause. Did he forget why he was there? He is full of "crap" and will exploit his cause any place. Most of his words were totally inappropriate and the others were so shallow one could see right past them. A "photo op" as all it was.

That's an excellent, well said article. And as I said earlier, I have no doubt that Obama's "people" planned this event at the college for this very thing...even though I do agree, the speech was well delivered.....The college campus thing was a setting to promote the 2012 candidate!

I'm going to have to throw in with Bob, Popeye, Marsha, et al. As mentioned in my last post, when obama mentioned Rep Giffords' opening her eyes, I had to mentally call a time-out and think about it. And then I thought, "No, it's just me."

Obama mentioned in his campaign that he had a gift. He truly does. Eloquence, thy name is Obama. And Control. Obama can hold an audience in the palm of his hand. It's actually amazing to watch.

I watched the whole darn thing. First time for me. When he first stood up to give it, I told my wife, "Another photo-op." He sounded like he was campaigning. Again. I was amazed, though, that there was no Teleprompter! That IS amazing! But he did carry the 'opened her eyes' schitck a bit too far, I thought. Like he had something to do with it. I was also saddened by the inference (also made by a lot of other dems) that the tragedy was all caused by 'our' disagreement with his agendas. No one that I know of has even once called for the wholesale murder of anyone, but especially democrats. The only hatred and vitriol I have seen or heard came from the democrats, themselves, directed against all conservatives. That man did not represent the views and opionions of ANYONE that I know. The man is a nut case, probably certifiably insane, which will probably get him off scotfree. That is sad.

I did not listen to BO's speech last night, I just couldn't bear the thought that he would be using the deaths of these people as any sort of platform for his agenda.

Maybe it was part of his speech, but I saw a video this AM where he was talking about Gabby Gifford (Isn't it amazing that so many people feel she is one of them now, including me - I feel I would stand between her and the devil) opening her eyes.

With the exception of "just after I left" it sounded like he was taking credit for her continued signs of recovery. I'm not surprised at the reception that announcement made, but BO had a very difficult time keeping a smile (smirk?) from breaking out.

I don't think he was quite expecting the response of the crowd, but repeating "Gabby opened her eyes" like he did seemed somewhat disingenuous to me.

This is just my considered opinion, and I have to recognize that my interpretation of BO's actions are colored by the fact I have never disliked a single politician as I dislike him.

Maybe it seemed like a campaign rally because that was as low-key as he could get and still speak.

I'm sorry if I upset anyone with my negativity. It just seemed to me he was almost ready to raise his arms and say, "Stand Up and be Healed"!

Have to agree with Teniswhiz -- I think that the President gave a very good overall speech last evening. It did ramble at times and I though he ended it a couple of times before the actual ending, but I thought it was mostly on point and what was needed at the time. We don't have to agree with his policies to accept the fact that he did do what was needed at the time.

I agree, NEVER Underestimate BO. On anything he says or does, thats when he thinks he has the upper hand on any given situation. Two kinds of people so far, that I never trust completely: 1. those that smile EVERY word they say. & 2. those that act like IN ALL WAYS, BO.

LOL Ron....I know how you feel.... !!! However....I will say the BO had an excellent speech. I will give credit where credit is due and the man is an eloquent speaker and always has been. Crap or no Crap, he delivers it well. It's his God given talent. Yes...much of it is hot air, as with 99.99999 % of politicians. Good or bad he's just a plan excellent speaker. I also thought the content (which, yes, is from speech writers) was very good. Bringing up the little girl as much as he did was excellent as you realized a young, ambitious, piece of our future was snuffed out by a mad man. And yet none of the other victims and heroes were left out. Also, as tragic as this whole thing was, the speech gave a lot of hope and was a celebration of that hope.

Believe me....I am FAR from being an Obama fan. FAR FAR FAR!!!! I can't wait for him to leave (and hope like crazy he doesn't look so bad compared to what's coming!). But I thought this was one of his finer hours.

RON...One thing my hubby pointed out... It did seem to be like a pep rally but as he said, it was at a college campus with a lot of college students cheering and all...the college bands and choir, etc.... My response to his comment (and he's anti Obama as well) was that Obama's people surely planned it that way. They market their man extremely well! We conservatives have a lot of work and learning to do to outsmart their upcoming campaigning!

I thought obama's speech had the tone of a campaign rally. And, yes, I well remember the Wellstone Memorial Service. Liberals have a different way of looking at things.

I am really, really happy that Gabrielle Giffords is showing signs of improvement, however, when obama said that she opened her eyes just after he left her room gave me cause to pause for reflection.

I don't know. I've seen and heard so much crap from obama these past few years, it's almost impossible to for me to be objective about anything he says and does. I just don't trust the man. Is it okay if I say that?

Never heard of Wellstone. Maybe that happened while I was out for 5 weeks on SparkBreak during my sister's last days.

That's a shame. I remember that "memorial service" for Paul Wellstone and yes, it was nothing short of a Democrat pep rally. I have no problem with comments made by Mr. Wellstone's son, or any other family member who spoke; the family just lost a loved one.
I'll have to see if I can find an article about this memorial service. What a shame.

I watched and it reminded me of the Wellstone memorial rally. By the time it got to the president I was upset and therefore would not say I could give him high marks for his speech. I was not really impressed. He said nice things about the people and that was fine and expected. I would say he was at a disadvantage, as the tone was probably not what was expected (it seemed like a campaign rally which was not of his doing).

I only heard part of this speech on Mark Levin's show tonight, but have to give Obama high marks for the part I DID hear.

Looks the handlers and speech-writers of our On-The-Job-Training President, our Training-Wheels President, have finally learned a thing or two; only took them 2 years to get a clue!, but, better late than never.

What hurts me is I know it came from handlers and speech-writers, instead of from his heart.

None of us are in danger of forgetting that SMALL fact before 2012; I hope the rest of the country is not gullible, either.

I won't forget that, but, what I heard was still a good speech.

2012 here we come: goodbye Obama at the election.
