So, if Puerto Rico becomes a State, what will happen to the American Flag? Where do we put another Star?

This is about as close to socialism as we've ever been! We have got to get our country back next election and stop this madness! Or we will be considered,

U.S.S.A. ~ United Sociallist States of America

My brother is a big fan of secession. But as another conservative once pointed out... We really want all 50 (or will it be 51) states to stay in tact. Who needs yet another country (and an evil one that was left behind after a split). What did Abe Lincoln put on the line with the Civil War? It wasn't about setting slaves free, though that was a great outcome. It was about keeping the union in tact as it was so divided about slavery. The north abolished it...the south wanted to keep it and breakaway from the U.S. I was always thankful that we all stayed as one country. We should make donations of time and money and get decent people in office and return our country to the great county we were. United we stand...all 50 of us (I sort of think we will stay at 50...but who knows!).

I turn off my TV every time that guy comes on. UGH!! And do we know if he's still a LEGAL president? From what I heard, Kenya is now claiming he was born THERE!! Maybe THAT'S why he's spending so much on legal fees trying to keep his birth certificate "hidden".

If Texas secedes (sp?) from the Union and we still have these idiots in power, I'm moving to Texas!!

I can do this, with God's help!!!

With God, ALL things are possible!!

Now all glory to GOD, who is able, through HIS might power at work within us, to accomplish INFINITELY more than we might ask or think!

"Remember when he was campaigning, "

He has never yet STOPPED campaigning! I get so sick of seeing him on TV, stumping around the country (World?) trying to drum up support for another of his cockamamey ideas. He is living in a dream world when he says he is supported by 'regular folks.' The people in his cabibinet and his advisors are anything BUT 'regular folks.' Crack heads, wackoes and other assorted crooks, criminals and outright terrorist's is more like it.

PS I just caught a glimpse at my number of posts. I can't believe I have posted that many times! And in only a bit over two years, too.

No, wait. There are not going to be "57" States much longer. Doesn't Texas want to be independent because of all what is going on. Don't they have a clause in their Constitution that they can split from the United States?

Wish everyone had that. Then there will only be ONE (D.C.) and that isn't even a State.... yet.... or was it counted in the "57"?

There are just a ton of liberals AND conservatives in both major parties today. There always have been, in fact. So you have to chose your man carefully. I doubt we can ever get rid of all the liberal/progressive stuff they have jammed down our throats over the past hundred years.

I was half expecting to hear from the government that they were going to make Haiti the next state, but the government really has put the Haiti 'problem' in a low key position. Not too much is being said about it, really. The way they are portrayed as carefully wording the voting rhetoric is very similar to how the pollsters word their polls. They give you very carefully directed questions and you can only answer them one way, THEIR way. So, no wonder it always shows the dems and Mr B O as 'leading in the polls.' I have taken to just hanging up when a pollster calls. Partly because I know that after I have answered all the questions the way they want me to they will ask me for money to 'support' my position! Some days I get as many as 3 or 4 calls from both sides, begging for money. It's becoming nauseating.

Learn from the mistakes of others. Life is too short to make them all yourself.

I would beg to differ in that it was Southern Conservative Democrats who, cklaiming the "conservative" position of defending what they called "States' Rights", opposed all Civil Rights and desegregation efforts and Northern centrist Republicans and Democrats who pushed it through...Everett McKinley Dirksen, GOP Leader in the senate, who nominated Barry Goldwater for President in 1964, was the key force in passing the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Abraham Lincoln was hardly a "limited government" conservative by today's standards, but is considered the father of the Republican Party.

no it wasn't(meaning Jim Crow)... but neither were they conservative issues... Don't forget the Segregationist Party was an offshoot of the Democratic Party (never the Republican). What I would rather see repealed would be the amendment that basically allows for anyone who visits this country and gives birth (either legally or illegally), that their child is automatically an American Citizen! and quite frankly since such a law would affect Germans or Russians just as much as Mexicans or other South American persons I don't see how it could be racist! Or better yet a simple Amendment that requires that one parent Must be a naturalized citizen of the US)

Let's be reasonable, people. I don't like President Obama's agenda either, but, c'mon, you really want to repeal the 19th Amendment (franchise for women), for example, which was considered a "Progressive bill" inn 1920. Some "Progressive" bills are actually quite conservative in nature, like protecting individual freedoms from government intrusion.

Sometimes we can get carried away -- was segregation/Jim Crow REALLY that good an system?

We have to have a single candidate against his Democrats and vote every single one of them out of office. Then we have to be diligent about voter fraud, because it will be a real problem. Then we can impeach him, and undue the last 90 years of progressive bills.

First he shoves the HC bill down our throats, he is trying to do the same with cap and tax, then Amnesty, he does not listen to the people, and he will do anything, including adding a state, to keep dems in office and secure his re-election. How much of this crap do we have to take before he can be impeached and taken out of office?

I thought that too. However, what OB wants OB gets. He will make it well worth their while for his benefit. We know too well from experiences this past year that money does speak. If it isn't money OB uses then it is something else to get what he wants. If he wants it he will stop at nothing to get it.

I agree with you PJ, this dude is doing everything he can to destroy this country and what it ONCE stood for. I worry about the lives my nieces and nephew will have. I've left the GOP in the last few years with Bush growing the government and while I am more of a libertarian I am solidly in the GOP camp.

Obama is one evil scheme after another. November is getting more and more important, and we have to stick together and not divide as multiple conservative parties to allow these thugs to stay in power.

Puerto Rico – the 51st State? Congress to move fast on this one.
Last night on his TV show, Glenn Beck dropped another bombshell — on Thursday, Congress will take up a bill to make Peurto Rico a state. Why is our Congress doing this now? Secretly? Quickly? If it hadn’t been for one of Beck’s “Refounders” (a Congressional insider), would we even know about this? Wy is this important to you and me?

Well, the word is out, and my local 9-12/Tea party organization sent this out this morning. First thing to hit my mailbox, in fact…

There is a bill to make Puerto Rico a state. Again, they are trying to pull one over on us and on Puerto Ricans, who have consistently said they do not want to become a state. Read below for more information (from Eagle Forum). This was also discussed by Rep Tom Price on a conference call yesterday.

Please consider this:

* The U.S. would transform, overnight, into a bilingual nation. At least half of Puerto Ricans do not speak English, the language of our U.S. Constitution and founding documents. The Washington Times article, “Puerto Rican statehood,” analyzes all the implications of adding a foreign language-speaking state to the Union.

* It would bring immediate demands for massive federal spending. The average income of Puerto Ricans is less than half that of our poorest state, and infrastructure and the environment are far below American standards. Puerto Rico has a population with a median national income of $17,741, nearly a third of that for the U.S.

* Puerto Rico is already a democracy. Despite the bill’s deceptive title, Puerto Rico already has an elected government and exists as a self-governed commonwealth of the U.S.

* Statehood would give Puerto Rico more congressional representation than 25 of our 50 states! It would inevitably give Democrats two additional U.S. Senators and 6 to 8 additional Members of the House.

H.R. 2499 is stealth legislation designed to lead to the admission of Spanish-speaking Puerto Rico as the 51st state, thereby making us a de facto bilingual nation, like Canada. The U.S. Congress should not be forcing Puerto Ricans to vote on statehood, especially since the Puerto Rican people have rejected statehood three times since 1991!

No Member of Congress who describes himself as a limited government, fiscal conservative should be casting a YEA vote for H.R. 2499, as Puerto Rican statehood would cause an immediate increase in federal expenditures, particularly for taxpayer-funded welfare state services.

Sponsored by Puerto Rican delegate Pedro Pierluisi (D), the Puerto Rico Democracy Act (H.R. 2499) – which has reared its ugly head a number of times over the past few congresses but has yet to have any success – would require Puerto Ricans to hold a national referendum to decide if they want Puerto Rico to remain a self-governing U.S. commonwealth, or become the 51st state.

The referendum would be set up as two plebiscites which would effectively deceive Puerto Ricans into voting for statehood. In the first round of votes, the Puerto Rican people would be given the choice between remaining a U.S. territory and “pursuing a different political status.” If the majority votes to maintain the status quo, this bill would require that Puerto Rico vote on this same issue every eight years.

If the majority votes for “different status,” a second round of votes would be held where Puerto Ricans would choose either statehood or independence-the status quo of “U.S. territory” would not even be an option! In other words, the two ballots would be rigged to favor the outcome of statehood, overriding the wishes of Americans and Puerto Ricans who want to maintain the current commonwealth status.
