Also, reconciliation is only to be used for budget issues, and I believe needs only 41 votes to pass. The two parties have nothing to do with it, even though you would think the word "reconciliation" would have something to do with both parties. Dems alone can shove it through reconciliation with only 41 votes.

BO doesn't say because I said so because that would be real and genuine. So many people take what is said at face value and do not watch to see what the government is actually doing. People are still many times, clueless as to the happenings in Washington. I heard today that even though Pill-osi was saying we don't have the votes, that dems are planning to shove this mess into reconciliation (only can use for budget items). I wonder if some of the wishy washy-s will go back on their yes vote and save us yet.

Reconcilliation is what happens when both houses pass some sort of law/program/package that are supposed to be the same but aren't. what then happens is a group from both sides of Congress take the two and Reconcile or mesh them together. then they get re-voted on.

it isn't neccesary if one group passes the bill in the same exact form as the other passed.

Which is what they might try to do with health care, since it's basically now dead in the Senate because of Filibuster.

but if pelosi can get the house to pass the mish-mash that the senate has already passd then reconcilliation is not needed and we're saddled with the BS that the senate gives us

Yes, that's reconciliation. But I get the impression there's some process in Congress for doing it that the Democrats are going to resort to, with certain rules and requirements so they can squeeze out the Republicans. Perhaps I'm wrong, but that's just how I've interpretted news stories.

Basically to merge the two together and make them one.

Can anyone here explain the process of reconciliation to me? It's a word I keep hearing, but I must admit that I don't understand what it means. It's one of those words like filibuster that we hear a lot, but that is never adequately explained.

I think the MA election is the start of a huge message we are sending to Congress, including the Senate, that Americans want them all to just start representing us and OUR needs, not theirs. The consequences, if they do not, will be that all of us nut jobs and wacko's are going to simply vote them all out. Either we get a truly representative government out of them, or we will let someone else try it. Obama said yesterday that the voters in MA were just doing the same things that got him elected. Yes, that's true, and if things don't change, that same sentiment will get him voted out again. And all of his buddies. The first shot has been fired. We have seen the whites of the enemy's eyes. We have seen that victory is attainable. The enemy has seen that we are determined and resolute. And we are not all republicans or independents, either. After all, MA already has a very similar healthcare plan to the Obamacare plan. They already KNOW what it's like, how it works. They also know that their premiums went up by 30%. Is the quality of care still the same? I don't know. Maybe someone from MA can enlighten us on that aspect. Senator Kennedy's seat belongs to the people. In fact, ALL of the seats in the Senate AND in Congress belong to We The People. WE alone will decide who gets to sit in them, and I think America is getting tired of the charade that we have been witnessing these past, what, 8 years?

Yes folks, 2010 stands to be a major milestone in our political history. And just a year ago we didn't know if it could be done. Now we know, it can be done, it WILL be done!

Learn from the mistakes of others. Life is too short to make them all yourself.

Glenn Beck talked about this the other day. Its amazing how this administration can continue to ignore the voice of the american people and still have ANY approval rating at all! The only ones that approve of him are the ones that totally trust the big "wonderful" gov't to just take care of everyone....I have no idea how to understand that type of thinking!

Why doesn't BO just go ahead and say "because I said so" instead of wasting time and pretending we're still a democracy?
