nobel piss prize !
when he thinks of taking away the anti-missile defense in Europe !!!???
TENISWHIZ, I think the same as you. emoticon I read that article too.

This summer, I read a stupid article in France : they compared Sarkozy to Obama :
Obama went to school longer than Sarkozy ! emoticon (btw we still haven't any school records !)

Sarkozy went through several divorces while Obama and Michelle were the perfect couple ! emoticon (everybody knows that in America, lol !)

Sarkozy buys expensive jewels while Obama doesn't spend more than a poor mouse ! emoticon (o.b. boeing trips are cheap !)

Obama is so smart, speaks so well to crowds : they forgot about the teleprompters emoticon

They said that Sarkozy was jealous of Obama because of all that, etc ! emoticon

Now will he be jealous because Obama got that nobel piss prize ? emoticon

When I look at drug companies, sometimes I think, is it moral for them to make a lot of money when some people can't afford the drugs? However, I have to think that those big profits that they make go toward giving drugs to those who can't afford them.

Indeed, the Nobel Peace prize was given to someone who has nice rhetoric during his campaign, that's it.

MY first reaction was a totally stunned, "What?"

Then the bad guy in me took me into a fury.

Finally, I calmed down and just laughed and laughed - hysterically.

Tears were coming out of my eyes.

Thanks to Forrest Gump, "Stupid is as stupid does".

Kitty - just a note. You totally cracked me up with your pun, your Very non-PC pun, of calling a spade a spade.

I don't know if you meant it or not, but when I read it, my eyeballs rolled back and I fell off my chair, ROTFLMAO.

Just the kind of humor I expect of another vet. You rock!

In a word yes..they liked his rhetoric. The idea that he would change the way the U.S. approaches the problems of the world..(i.e. war on terror to "Overseas contingency operations, Terrorism.."Man made disasters..etc), and our role in the world. No longer would we endeavor to remain "The last great hope for man to achieve their dreams of freedom", from tyranny in all forms. No longer would we be The military and Economic super power that has made us the envy of all the little dictators and communist regimes. We would give up our standard of living and be content to wade in the muck and mire of mediocrity, equally miserable with the likes of Venezuela, Cuba, etc.!? Give me a break..
He joins rare company for a sitting president,Woodrow Wilson and Theodore Roosevelt.
And let us not forget that we would allow him to destroy the greatest medical care industry on the planet, rather becoming just another nation with a largely uncaring, inefficient government run program, caring for fewer people, with less quality, the efficiency of the USPS and the caring of your local DMV!
I, like about 85+% of my fellow American citizens like our insurance plans. Are there things that could be tweaked, to improve them, yes. But why use a wrecking ball on the building, for just afew leaky windows and squeaky doors?
As for the truly chronically uninsured, we used to rely on charitable contributions, both from individuals and yes, even those evil drug companies, which still have programs setup for hardship cases. You just have to ask, and it may take a few attempts to get to the right person, but there are many more cases of companies, doctors and even hospitals covering these bills than is ever reported.
Sorry I got to going long here.. but the D.C. crowd and dear leader, get my dander up..

I think the biggest myth being perpetrated is that he won it after just eight months in office. BULL! The award was given to him after eight months. The prize was awarded in February, after JUST 11 days in office.
So, let me see, he was given it because they liked his campaign?

Nicolas Sarkozy, President of France, must be laughing his head off right now on this "prize". He of ALL people, too. France known for it's whimpiness when it comes to things like, coalitions, etc... Anyway, DH had read me an article based on this artile BEFORE the peace prize was awarded. Read what ole Nick had to say about Obama! Amazing! I have a new found respect for the French dude! If you really want to hurl, think about this: the only thing Nobama did do in those couple weeks of his presidency was to reverse the "New Mexico Policy" and take our tax dollars and put them into overseas abortion. And at a time when our economy is crashing and burning--talk about priority.

Pretty sickening, if you ask me.

Salty...Exactly...or like in this article...he shares an award given to the likes of Yasser Arafat! Goes to show the integrity of such an award!!!! This article even points out B.O. himself said he felt "humbled and undeserving!" If he has an ounce of decency in his bones, he'd better truly mean it! What a crock!

Good article. I liked some of the readers comments on the bottom one of which "The award was given to try to tie America's hands in dealing with North Korea and Iran. After all, how can a Nobel Peace Prize winner possibly leave a military option on the table."

That's a very good point.

I suppose that Clemenceau and Chamberlain could have been given the prize in 1938 -- after all, they proclaimed "Peace in our time" -- although I'm not sure that the Czechs they sent into the benevolent care of Third Reich would agree.

I am still in shock --still waiting for Ashton Kutcher to pop out and say "You've been punked"!!

HYACINTH--I had the same thoughts about Hitler...like I bet there were a lot of people that thought HE deserved the peace prize during the 30s...you know we're mocked by the left for drawing the comparison between BO and Hitler, but I'm sorry...let's call a spade a spade. I mean, granted, so far (that we know of) BO hasn't comitted any of the monsterous acts that Hitler did, but, the gaga lovefest is eerily simliar.

Talk about spitting in the faces of past Nobel Peace Prize holders. They have just taken this Prize and made a joke of it.

The team for Obama are eating this up, and the scary thing is they believe that this man is the messiah. Can you imagine the heart break these poor souls will endure when they finally learn the truth of the man they have so blindly been following.

He wasn't even an extraordinary Senator . I believe that a higher power is at hand here. BO has been groomed and staged for all of this unwarranted fame given to him.

Bo will always be remembered as the Greatest President of this country long after he is gone because of his followers . One example is this, When I came back from Germany I was talking to this elderly woman who had been in her late teens growing up in Germany during Hilter' ruling . I didn't know this at the time while I was telling her of my trip. I told her about going to the Dachau concentration camp in Germany. She then proceeded to inform me that "That was all LIES there were never any death camps" "Hilter was a great man, he took care of us during the war and gave us bread and butter, he was a good man"

Here is a woman that lived through the war and lived through the printed history of it all and still believes Hitler was a Great Man

I think he ought to give the money back to the taxpayers...it was at their expense, and through their (albiet idiotic) votes that got him the prize in the first place...plus, I kind of figure that he owes us based on the amount of money he's spent in pursuit of GETTING this award.

That dollar figure is OUTRAGEOUS to go to someone who 1.) clearly doesn't need it, and 2.) Didn't do anything note worthy to get it.

If he really wanted to good, he would give it away to people who are in dire need and could use it. Like starving/homeless people ....IN OUR OWN BACKYARD!!!!

Or better yet, let that be the first pymt as a good gesture to his wonderful Healthcare plan!

Yeah, like SOUTHTXTINA, my first reaction was, "What for?!" I suppose I must be a racist.

I don't even know why anything still shocks me in today's world, still, it seems there's something new everyday. Life is so subjective.

Anyway, I reckon it must be an honor to stand with the likes of Jimmy "The Wimp" Carter, Yasser Arafat, and Al "The Joke" Gore.

I dunno.

You know, if I was BO, and if my ego wasn't the size of Russia, I would be able to recognize that at the time the nominations for this award were posted, I hadn't yet done my appeasement tour of the Middle East--all I'd done was appologize on my rock-star tour of Germany for the arrogance of the United States. Hadn't done the Middle East appeasement tour, hadn't told the UN that the U.S. is going to get rid of it's weapons, hadn't declared the United States a non-Christian nation yet...really, hadn't said anything except a bunch of campaign promises for "hope" and "change."

The point of all of this is that I guess words speak louder than deeds these days. I mean, what has BO actually DONE? Not a whole lot except spend obscene amounts of taxpayer dollars. He's talked a lot, though. A LOT. And everything he's said has been said to weaken the United States. And now the world is thanking him for it. The world is THRILLED that the United States is prostrating itself into submission, that BO's holding out our cojones on a silver platter.

Of COURSE he was nominated only 2 weeks after getting into office. His puppet masters, whoever they are, have had an agenda from the start. I wholely believe that they aren't American, and that they have the destruction of the power of the United States front and center in their line of sights. Naturally BO didn't actually have to ACCOMPLISH anything--his election was accomplishment enough to begin the process of bringing America to his knees and "peace" to the world with it...after all, we ARE the great Satan, bringing evil deeds where ever we go.

Maybe, back in the day, the Nobel Peace Prize was something to be proud of, but in this day and age, it's just another notch on a liberal agenda to supress individualism and free thought and action and instead, to promote conformity and a single-minded "vision" for a hippy, communist utopia.

On behalf of those U.S. citizens who still value freedom more than John Lennon's "imagine"ings of the new world order, I myself say, "thanks, but no thanks."

I agree with MAJORDADVT, B.O. is not George W. Bush. It's that simple.

Seriously, the names to be voted on had to be turned in by Feb. 1, 2009. He had only been President for 2 weeks at that point.

My husband woke me up this morning simply saying "you've got to hear this". I barely opened an eye to see the tv and heard the news. All I could say was "you've got to be kidding... for what?"

This just goes to show the world is bonkers. As it says in Isaiah:

Woe to those who call evil good
and good evil,
who put darkness for light
and light for darkness,
who put bitter for sweet
and sweet for bitter.

Obama is a bitter pill for many reasons. Yet the "world" is absolutely in love with him. Good grief...

My nomination for next year is Fidel Castro. He's getting up there in years - I think they should recognize him for the many years he's spent in taken care of the Cuban people and his many humanitarian efforts. Makes just as much sense to me.

Using the Nobel criteria -- who would you pick??

This is simply unbelievable. Maybe Mahmoud Ahmadinejad can win next year.

Didn't people usually receive this award AFTER they did something?

Teddy Roosevelt -- mediated the end of the Russo-Japanese war

Woodrow Wilson -- Produced a plan for peace after WWI that, if adopted, might have prevented WWII

Jimmy Carter -- Camp David Peace accords leading to (still in effect) peace between Israel & Egypt.

Nelson Mandela & F.W. deKlerk -- ended apartheit and peacefully transitioned to majority rule in South Africa.

Mother Theresa -- provided care for millions of the least cared for and cared about human beings and raised awareness of the plight of the poor and dying.

Barack Obama -- Hey, I'm not George W. Bush, and I, uh, er, that is I might, er, I mean, it's possible that change is going to, well...Hey, I'm not George W. Bush.

All I can do is laugh at this point.

Well he is in fitting company...Al Gore, Jimmy Carter, Kofi Annan.... Good grief!

I'm sure the terrorists of the world agree with the choice. I'm sure THEY are sleeping more peacefully with BO in office.

No, I don't think it's a joke. IT IS SAD though it's come to this. I hope BO realizes, they just did this to "SUCK UP TO HIM".... Why they wanna suck up is behond me, but what other explanation is there?
BO can make all the money he wants made, then think about it.....
EVERTHING BO does, is BEHIND his beaty little eyes that he won't let look right into any camera or anyone AMERICAN face/s.

When somthing is of God, NOTHING can stop it. Amen..

So, the process started in February when he hadn't been in office for even a month? No, that is definitely fishy. What an absolute joke.
The sad part is that the Nobel Peace Prize used to really mean something. It was an honorable prize. Now it's just a joke.

The selection process took place in Feb. He only got in Jan. 20th. They say that there was talk before hand that his name would be in. (that smells fishy)

The real sick part is that now, if people say anything negative about it then again we'll hear "Soar losers." "Racists" "You just don't want to say anything good about him" etc.

This prize lost all credibility to me now, between the Al Gore issue and now this.

Makes me sick! I guess he's getting this b/c he's probably going to refuse to send the additional troops to Afghanistan, so that's promoting peace. Forget that it is going to mean we are going to lose more lives, but hey, what does that matter! I really, really can't stand this President! I dislike him far more than I ever disliked Bill Clinton....far more!

unbelievable...

Yeah, I know. I laughed when I read that. What a joke. Obama goes around and talks to a few people about nukes, and for that he wins the Nobel Peace Prize? NOTHING HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED YET. It's still ALL TALK! It's so obvious that the whole thing was orchestrated in an attempt to raise his declining approval ratings. I knew that that the whole concept of the Nobel Peace Prize was going down the tubes when Gore won it for making a movie about the weather.
But of course, all of the Obamaniacs will applaud and swoon.
How pathetic.

Are you KIDDING ME??????? I thought something was wrong with the selection process when Al Gore won for a movie he made about global warming over a German woman (I can't recall her name) that recently pasted away at 98 y/o who risked her life by smuggling Jewish babies to safety to spare them the horrors of the holocaust. She saved 2,500 babies one by one. She was found out and severely beaten, she kept a record of all the children and tried to reunited them with their families after the war. Most were dead though (the families).

But Al Gore won. Isn't that special? Now BO? Something smells with that process too!!

I'm angry about this.
