I am going to jump into this OLD post since I am a slacker and JUST FINALLY watched the finale of the season (((forgive me... with 4 kids some days a shower is a challenge, lol))). Here are my thoughts.....

First off, Hershel's comment totally ROCKED!! I am liking him more and more. He's showing a bit more of the strength that he did in the books.

Second, Lori is totally on my last nerve. WTF was UP with her getting po'ed at Rich for the Shane thing? Her character irritates the you-know-what out of me in the show. She's not at all like in the book. I don't really like her at all.

Loved seeing Shane as the zombie. It needed to be done and was drawn out way too long through the season, IMO. But it was pretty cool when it finally happened.

MICHONNE!!! Rock on! Can't wait to see more of her in the next season! WOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I completely agree with whomever left the comment about Rick withholding the information about everyone being infected. Why would he reveal that kind of information in a time that everyone is scared and fending for their lives as it is. Waiting until he knew it was true was the best thing he could do. I like Rick. I loved his character in the book and I think that Lincoln portrays a pretty decent Rick in the show.

Oh, thoughts... anyone have any thoughts on how they're going to handle the baby thing? I don't see them going the route they took in the book on AMC maybe on a pay channel they would attempt something like that, but I don't see it on AMC. I am wondering if possibly a miscarriage or something?

Sorry for my late thoughts!

I agree that Hershel's "resurrection of the dead" line was by far the best line of dialogue all season. I was laughing so hard I was crying.

I get that Rick wanted to kill zombies by setting the barn on fire. But that's like climbing out on a tree limb, then sawing off the branch behind you. He set the barn on fire knowing that his son was trapped with him inside, and there was a good chance they would both die. I just don't see him risking Carl's life that way.
As far as Andrea goes.. it'll be interesting to see what happens. We have to assume that at some point ( I am guessing half way through the first part of season 3) she will reunite with the group, at the prison. It'll be this huge happy homecoming.. until she learns that Rick blew away her boyfriend Shane. My prediction is that we see this in episode 6 of next season. Isn't that about when we got resolution on the Sophia issue?
I thought all along they were keeping TDog alive simply as a love interest for Michonne. Now that we know she's coming, I think I was right. I'm sure they promised the actor playing him lots of good stuff next season.

Loved this finale. I agree about this is the first time in a while that I've talked to the TV so much while watching a show.

I'm curious to see how Rick's sudden revelation, both about what Jenner said at the CDC and about Shane to the rest of the group, affects people. Particularly Daryl and Glen. Glen's been on Team Rick since he saved him from the herd in Atlanta. And now he's visibly struggling with Rick's statement. Carol's just terrified, and scapegoating Rick. I mean, she was being surrounded and would have been overrun if it hadn't been for Andrea, and Daryl JUST got her out of there.

And what about that barn scene when the roof collapsed? How beautifully terrifying was that to see that SWARM coming up from the barn silhouetted against that inferno... Did anyone watch Talking Dead? Apparently that was just a chance shot. I can't wait until season 3, though. I'm so stoked about seeing Michone and the group with the Prison, to see if it winds up being like in the comics or not.

As far as reading the comics vs. watching TWD.. is definitely different. I've read them all, in book form, up to #7, and in my opinion the show writer's definitely wanted things to have a twist for anyone that's has read them it appears. Sticks to the story for the most part, but there are some BIG differences.. Like Sophia for example. In the comics, she's still alive well on into the series, and Herschel wasn't supposed to leave the farm. So there's some small differences and some large ones. It's pretty interesting to know that even though you've read the books, you can still be shocked and surprised when things happen. Like Dale. :(

Ok so I am going with Lori's baby is going to die in womb, or at birth, because can you really think of anything more horrific than zombie baby! This will have to make everyone think about humanities ability to survive this virus in the long run.

I like the idea that everyone is already infected, I mean we have seen zombie blood splattered everywhere in the last 2 seasons, so it make sense to me. It also reminds me of the movie "Fido" and "Zombcom" company. When Shane sat up after being stabbed I could not stop myself from yelling "Head Coffin" If you have seen the movie you know what I'm talking about, and if you have not, than how can you call yourself a true zombie fan! I'm looking forward to next season, new characters and new interactions, Hopefully we will get some women who are not all B*tches and/or whiny Ho's because right now I hate just about every female on this show! This includes Andrea, because lets not forget, she was whispering in Shane's crazy ear all season herself, remember she told Shane to go at Rick with a light touch to get what he wanted. She is as manipulative as Lori!

@ ONEJD01:

Oh man! Andrea was totally bad *ss!!! I was super impressed! I really like her character and how much she has grown over the seasons. She complex, insightful and has a pair of her own! LOVE IT!

And speaking about people thinking Rick is weak:

What was up with those comments that Carol was making to Darryl around the campfire? Why is she being so divisive and whiny?? What DOES she want? Darryl was looking at her like she was crazy, but I'm worried his insecurities are going to get wrapped up into the garbage that Carol is feeding him.

I loved that line from Hershel! I'm also glad they didnt kill him because I really like him.

As for Rick? It's about time he snapped at everyone! There is only so much anyone can take before they snap. I think some of the people seemed to be taking his kindness and good-heartedness as a weakness.

I was also bothered by Lori's reaction to Rick's confession. She all but told him to kill Shane a couple episodes back (when she was leaning on him and telling him that Shane thought she, Carl & the baby belonged to him...after Rick shot those guys in the bar?). Plus Shane was going to kill Rick, what was he supposed to do?

I'm glad Andrea survived, I was pretty impressed by that because she was on foot the entire time...with the bag of weapons.

I really liked the finale. It's going to be a long wait until the new season.

Rick set the barn on fire to kill some zombies. That's why he let them into the barn and he taunted more in before he climbed up the ladder. He wanted to kill as many as possible.

Very interesting thought DSD.... But how would they ever know?

Andrea bursting through the clearing... I hoped she would, but alas.... I wish we knew where she was in association to the rest of the group......

I haven't read the comic and am on the fence about it... would it make this tv watching experience better or worse...

A smile is a curve that can set things straight!

The only real issue I had with the episode was when Rick and Carl were in the barn with a swarm of zombies. They climb up into the loft. All they needed to do was kick the ladder away, and they would have been safe. But Rick decides to set fire to the barn while they're inside??!! Not the brightest idea.

And what are the chances Merle is responsible for leading the hoarde to them?

Best line of the whole season goes to Hershel:

Last week I almost posted wondering where the zombie horde came from, why were they in the woods on that night and why didn't the group attract walkers with all of the gun shots they had fired earlier in their stay at Hershel's farm - and I decided against it, because I doubted we would be given an answer! I'm impressed the writers gave us that info, and now I'm wondering if the helicopter they were following was the same one Rick saw in Atlanta. Where did it come from? And was that the Governor's compound in the last shot of the episode? So many questions, I really can't wait for fall!

Was anyone else just waiting for Andrea to come bursting out of the woods, screaming at the group, "WTF is wrong with you!? You just left me there!!!" Loved the introduction of Michonne, and I'm curious to see how the show handles Andrea's abandonment in the next season - if they make her bitter about it or if she decides the chaos of the situation left them no choice.

I think Lori's issue with Rick was mostly about Carl shooting Shane. I don't know what to read into that about her feelings for Shane, because she was visibly reacting to Rick's story before he revealed that Carl shot Shane, but I think a fair part of her reaction is to her young son shooting someone, especially someone who was so close to their family. To be honest, the females on this show really get on my nerves. I'm hoping the show presents Michonne as a strong female that I can get behind.

Anyone else reading the comics? I'm about 1/3 through the first compendium.

That finale was so awesome! I am stoked that Rick nutted up and told everybody off. Lori needs to thank her lucky stars.

I definitely think Andrea is going to get bitter and turn against the group. If she joins up with this new character and whoever is with her, I can just imagine what the confrontation is going to be like when she and Rick encounter each other again.

I found myself warning people when there were zombies coming up behind them. Jimmy wouldn't listen when I told him not to stop moving and see what happened? LOL I figured the lesser characters would be goners.
I reacted to Lori's reaction to Rick's revelation that he killed Shane the same way. WTH?? You wanted him to do something, and he did it! Geez-o-pete lady. And Carol, urging Daryl to split off from the group. No, there was nothing to gain by telling everyone what Jenner had said without knowing for sure it was true or not.
All in all I thoroughly enjoyed the finale. Think that's the most I've talked to the tv in a while LOL

I absolutely agree about Andrea - both about her turn-around from wanting to die to now fighting so hard to survive, and being totally bad*ss in the struggle!

I was really happy that they showed us how the walkers all came to the farm so suddenly.... and I'm super curious about the helicopter.... OTHER SURVIVERS!

Lori.... Maybe she was seeing Shane on the side all along... even before Zobiegeddon. Maybe Carl was actually Shane's all along... and Lori was flipping out about Carl having to "put down" his own father. I mean think back to episode 1.1.... we know Lori and Rick were having some marital issues even before all of this other stuff... and we know from the flashbacks, that Shane treated Lori different then the women he kept in his company. I am still wondering if this second baby won't be born with some defects b/c it is obviously infected since everyone else is. That thought alone could be enough to drive any expecting mother to madness...

Andrea... So happy she survived. The new character... Michonne is pretty hardcore... but what good do zombies on chains to when they can't rip someone apart, or mow them down. I would see them as more of a hindrance. It was visually impressive... but the practicality of it left me wondering... Also I am hoping Andrea isn't going to grow bitter and angry due to having been left behind.

Rick... I guess I can understand why the group would be falling apart a little bit after all of that. I was glad they all met back up at the highway, and were able to get back together... for the most part. I can see why they would question his leadership a little. He seemed like a crazy person grasping at straws, even thought he was making good sound decisions and doing his best. I still think he's the best leader, and was waiting for Daryl to speak up on his behalf, because I believe Daryl suspected Shane was up to no good when he was in the woods trying to find Randall, then found him with his neck snapped. I just hope that Rick isn't going to lose his humanity... it would be easy for a person to do carrying the weight he has had to bear. But I was glad to see him put them all in their places.

M (my other half) pointed out to me an irony... Andrea was trying to die the end of Season 1, at the CDC.. she didn't want to leave, but Dale "forced" her to live, yet in the end of Season 2, she was fighting for her life (with impressive ferocity!).

The prison we glimpsed in the distance... I'm guessing this will be Michonne's fortress... or the place Rick was talking about where they could fortify, and hole up. He is really concerned about the welfare of Lori and this unborn child, and wants to make sure they will have a place to start fresh. I can't say I blame him. I am excited and looking forward to Season 3.... October 2012 seems like forever away. They finally left the farm, and pulled what I thought was going to be a horrible show into an amazing finale... Two thumbs up from me!!!

emoticon emoticon

P.S. Seeing Andrea be all bad arse, and this totally in control Michonne character come on the scene.. really made me want to get in shape!!! RAWR!!!

Holy guacamole! I thought the farm was going to get invaded but not like that! I'm not going to say I'm disappointed, but it surprised me, or not, that they killed off only small characters. Everyone who died last night were characters who weren't really around. Lori irritated me as well how she is treating Rick. She HAD to have known it was going to be either Rick or Shane in the end. And he TOLD her what Shane was doing to him! Maybe she's more upset that Carl was the one who shot zombie Shane down? I'm not sure. It'll be interesting to see what happens between them. I was a little surprised that Rick got so angry in the end and said it wouldn't be a democracy anymore, that's going to backfire on him at some point I'm sure. I am VERY curious about the person with the zombies who saved Andrea and also the huge establishment they showed off in the distance from the group. I am just thankful they didn't leave it on an OMGTERRIBLE cliff hanger until this fall. Whew!

Oh, what fun I can't wait 'til the future gets here - Video, Ben Folds

Last night's season finale was so freaking good!!..But as with most of the season so many things got under my skin!..The biggest one for me was Lori not wanting Rick to touch her after she found out he killed Shane!..I was like Really?!?..I can not believe this chic!!!...If Rick had not of killed Shane..Shane def would have taken out Rick!!...Then Carol was trying to turn Daryl against Rick b/c he didn't tell them that they were all infected..But what would they have done with that information had they have known?..Plus Rick didn't really know himself if it was actually true! So why start a panic within the group about something that they can do nothing about!..I was screaming at the screen leave Rick alone!..lol.. And this new girl who saved Andrea was def a bad A$$ chic!..The walkers she had with her looked like they were trained!..I was like Whoa!..lol...I can not wait to see season 3!!! What did you guys think of the finale?
