Textured vegetable protein. It is the protein from vegetables made into little crumbles. Sometimes I get it already seasoned so it can be used as ground beef, except patties, and sometimes I get the TVP that has no flavor of its own. This time I had mixed veggies and noodles. One of my favorites. I just add extra water and put the TVP on top. Makes a quick lunch.

Good Morning. Bad habits are getting to me. 27 years ago when the Dr made me a vegetarian, I went looking for a diet. Everything I read said Americans eat to much protein and not to worry. Well I few a years ago I learned that was wrong. Well yesterday I fixed my lunch and realized I didn't have any protein,so I tossed some TVP on it. At lunch I looked at it and thought it didn't look right. I looked up my serving sizes I had two servings of mixed veggies. No big deal the mixed veggies were 18 calories a serving. The problem was that I had put about 2 teaspoon of TVP in my lunch and 1 serving is 1/4 cup. I'm thinkinhg this is why I feel so wore out.

HAPPY EARTH DAY. I went for my walk this morning. Venus was shinning with all her glory next to a crescent moon.

Last night on Biggest Loser they had another fact for you. People that wear a pedometer walk 2000 steps more then people that don't. My guess is that we like to challenge ourselves to get more steps, get a # day in and day out or hit a monthly #. A man gets 2000 steps per mile a woman 2500. Of course yours may be different depending on your stride length and speed you are walking. The American Heart Association says you need 10,000 steps to be healthy more to loss weight. But of course find you base first and anything over that will start the weight loss. I've always walked, so when I put a pedometer on my base was already 10,000 steps. It took several years before I could do 20,000 day in and day out. My goal is 20,000 a day, but then I get honest with myself and figure in days I can't walk because of weather and days my ankle says no way and have a goal of 500,000 a month.

Good Morning. I was talking to Mom. She said she was at church and people were complaining about it being a misty nasty day. She said she told them to be thankful they were at church. I of her DD was snowed in and not going to be able to get to church and another wasn't going to church because she was flooded in.

I've been trying to get people at work to join me on the stairs. We work on the 6th floor. Well I got my wish, but not the way I thought. We have 2 elevators in the building. 1 has been out since Ike. The other went out yesterday. This morning there was a sign on the front of the building that the elevators are out till further notice. We can struggle though it, but what about the baby Dr next door?

I read strange but true things. Most have nothing to do with weight loss, but here are some that do.

People that enter the house through the back door eat 15% more snacks then people that use the front door. Most back doors are near the kitchen.

For treadmills and stationary bikes. People that read or watch TV burn the lest calories because they don't work as hard. People that work in front of a mirror work the longest and hardest.

People with pets get 2X the exercise of others. People with dogs get the most.

People with a hobby get more exercise then people without one.

Good Morning. The water is down. The horse pasture smells like stagnant water, but things are get back to normal.

I had an interesting talk with Beka(7).

Grandma are you really going to leave me at Daddy's?
Yes, I bought a 1 way ticket for you and a round trip for me.
How long am I staying at Daddy's?
How long do you want to stay at Daddy's?
10 years, then I'll stay with Mommy 8 years while I go to collage.
You are going to take 8 years for Collage?
Yes Aunt Margie (my sister) said it takes 8 years to get your PHD. (Marge does have a PHD.)
Are you going to get a PHD?
Yes
In what?
I don't know, I'm just going to get a PHD.
She has it all planned, except how to pay for it.
Long way for a child that only a year ago thought she was suppose to grow up to be a dancer at a strip club.

Mary Alice, sorry about the flooding. When I was a kid we lived in a place that flooded with every storm. I remember my poor mom having to deal with it over and over. We're in for a nic high pressure system all next week. I hope everything dries out for you. It seems like Texas just keeps going from one extreme to the other.

I went for my walk this morning. The water has started draning. Even during Ike it wasn't like this.
I'm tring to get all the stuff I should have done yesterday, and clean up from the flood. I couldn't even wash cloths yesterday. I couldn't hang them on the line. I started to do things I could hang in the house, but the drain field was under water so I didn't want to put any more water down the drain then I had to.

Good morning, It's a beautiful Sunday morning here 32F but sunny. My ankle is still bothering me quite a bit, I came close to breaking it a few weeks ago by slipping on some ice. Glad that stuffs gone! I still can't walk much until that heals. My wrists and thumbs are achey but our weather is getting drier so that should help. Need to go get ready for church. Have a wonderful day everyone.

It stopped raining, so Mutt and I tried to go for a walk. We only went 1/2 a mile. We are flooded in. The horses are standing up to their knees in water. I could hear some dogs in back yards that weren't happy at all, but I couldn't get to them. For most of them it looked like their owners were flooded out. Mutt tried to find a place to get of the road to take a dump and ended up using the middle of the road. I was glad to see someone come for the horses. I hope the water drains off tonight. Sunday is Easter for my husband's church. He drives a small car. Before you ask, the last supper was Passover, so his church celebrates Easter the Sunday after Passover.

My mother-in-law passed away last week after 87 amazing years. I am the only other knitter in the family and it was up to me to pack up her knitting supplies and materials. Most of them will find special places in my craft room, but others were given to her knitting group. It was such a joy to hold her projects and feel the warmth of her love in the skeins of yarn.

Just know that when you knit, you leave a legacy of love. Have a wonderful day and say a prayer of thanks for hands that work, eyes that see, and hearts that reach out.

I know I said we needed rain, but it can stop now. The dog house just flooted by the back window and the pond fish are swimming in the front yard. Our house is up 5 steps off the ground.

Good morning. I didn't get my evening walk, it was raining, emoticon . I did "No More Trouble Zones". I like the DVD, but don't do it very often because it is 55 min.

This morning I got a good walk in. It looked like rain, but I got it in between storms. The morning was down hill from there. My printer decided not to scan Beka's papers so I can e-mail them to Charles, her father. Then I couldn't get on the bank, because they didn't recognize my new computer. When they locked me out they locked DH out to with a message we can call them monday. They just called and canceled Beka's game.

Mary Alice, I'm sorry to hear about the fire fighters. Many members of my family are or have been on the fire department. That rain you're getting could turn into a big storm. We're getting clobbered in Colorado. I had hail last night. Now I'm getting a heavy wet snow. Its very pretty and we need the moisture but I'm glad I'm not driving in it.

Good morning. Well I'm back. I went over 20,000 steps yesterday and 17 flights of stairs. I didn't get my work out in though.

Last night DH wasn't to sure about me walking, but it was misting, not raining, so I walked. This morning was muggy, now it looks like it is going to storm and if the weather man is right, there won't be an evening walk.

DS told me last night he hasn't been able to get hold of Beak's mother to talk to her about his plans to take Beka. He wants me to do it this weekend. That will be interesting. I try to avoid confirmation with Kelly for Beak's sake. I know Kelly is hard to get a hold of. I live alot closer to her then he does and I can't call her. I have to wait for her to call me. I don't even know where she is living, except in Houston and that is a big place.

Good morning. 2 fire fighters died Sunday while fighting a fire. The Memorial is at Grace community Church this morning. Grace does most of the memorials for this area and when Grace does a Memorial they do a Memorial. This morning coming in I passed about 2 dozen trucks on their way to the fire station to be in the fire truck procession to the church. 2 Dozen trucks with police escort of about 4 motor cycle cops and 5 cruisers. All with their lights on, coming towards me in the dark. If that won't move you nothing will. The procession will be about a mile long. I just passed some of the trucks on their way to the station.

Good morning. A nice clear morning here in Houston. My knee says we are in for a weather change. My ankle doesn't. The weather man says we will have storms tomorrow night. We need the rain bad, but not storms.

Good morning everyone. I feel so achy right now. For the past few hours I've been switching up between making my dinners for the upcoming work week and washing the dirty dishes that accumulated. The warm dish water felt wonderful on my hands, but now I have a nagging pain in my back, knees, my hands are sore. I'm not due to take my meds for another 1 1/2 hrs. Of course, this damp, rainy weather doesn't help things either. emoticon

I'm all aches and pains as well but going to go for a walk. My new medication is taking the edge off the pain but not that clicky, dull ache I get in my ankles and they feel compacted and locked. The weather here in Belfast is damp and drizzily and I knew that even before I opened the blinds because my pains were activated! I feel ready to go on though and determined to keep active. I was away for a couple of days, computerless and missed my Spark!

Good afternoon everyone! Just got home from work. my ankles are a little achey from being on my feet 8 hours.I think that I must get some exercise with all the walking that I have to do! It's still quite cold and windy here to walk outside. I live in the country and the ground is still very muddy in places. It should dry up enough in a couple of weeks, usually I trail walk in the woods on our own property. Weight is coming off slow, but then again I'm not so young anymore!!Have a great evening.

Morning all! I have finished the training for my new job and have spent approximately 3 weeks on the job. I like it but I have had to go to the doctor and request that he write me a letter stating I need a chair with arms and a good back for ergonomic reasons. I spend most of the day seated and standing up from the chair that I have is the very devil. Trying to lose weight but I am not doing very well. I think part of it is that I am eating less than 1500 calories per day This change from days to nights is a problem but I will get through. Just is going to take some time and I need to find time to exercise. Water aerobics is what I am able to do. Wishing you all the best!

Good morning everyone. My lower back, knees and ankles are bothering me today. Got lots of walking in Saturday at an outlet mall and extra activity over the 3 day weekend. Spent the day yesterday doing heavy cleaning and major laundry. It hasn't been cold, but it's been rainy. I am really feeling it today - and I have more laundry and a ton of errands to do.
Wishing you all a pain free day

Good morning. I got my walk in this morning, but I can see the air around Houston and the weather man says we will have an ozone warning for sensitive people this afternoon and evening. We'll see if it clears enough for me to walk this evening. I don't walk till 8 and the warning is till 7. Maybe things will clear up early.

My legs are killing me today. I did No more Trouble Zones on Sunday and yesterday Weight Loss Yoga. I've done them back to back before, but I'm sinking deeper into my squats and really feeling it. I think I'll have a light workout tonight.

Good morning. Well I didn't keep my steps down as much as I wanted yesterday, I got 11949, but that is still a lot less then a normal Sunday. I lifted children Sunday, but didn't carry any.

We couldn't do our can hunt yesterday because of the weather, but we still collected food. We had 2 12 foot tables piled higher then I can reach to take to the food bank.

Welcome Chris. I have arthritis in my back, but I broke my ankle a year ago and what works for it works for arthritis in the ankle. A good pair of walking shoes is a must. I wear them most of the time, even with my suits. I'm wearing them today with my Easter dress. Exercises that involve jumping are out. I find I'm doing mostly light cardo. For strength, I do most of my arm exercises sitting down, or low weight and more reps, so I don't have the extra weight on my ankle. Sitting on an exercise ball will take the weight off you ankle while working your core.

Hi,I'm also new here so I don't know if I am posting right. Please correct me if I am wrong. I have some things figured out but not the messaging. I have arthritis in my ankles and hands and it makes it a real bummer for exercising! Looking forward to getting to know the folks here. Have a blessed Easter everyone. Chris emoticon

It's thinking about rain. They have canceled our can hunt at church. At our church the older children bring canned food to church. It is hidden while the are in children's service. After service the children look for canned food and get candy for every can the find. The caned food is then taken to the local food bank.

Yesterday DH wanted to stop by the mall. I didn't have my staff, but said OK. My ankle was bothering me when we got home, but I had cloths to hang on the line. Beka called me and I ran back in the house tripping on the steps. I turned my good ankle landing on my bad ankle. Today my goal is to keep my steps down to 5000. I'm already at 2000 so this is going to be a real challenge. My normal steps are 18,00 to 20,000.

Welcome Melissa. I'm trying to stay away from food today. For some reason when I'm in pain I want to eat. As if that will make the pain go away. The Dr says the best thing for my ankle is to lose weight and eating isn't going to help that.

Good Morning. Little fires that the firefighters get out easy, but no big ones. What gets me is the people that don't understand the burn ban means them too. We still have people burning trash.

How scary about the fire situation, Mary Alice! Have you seen what's happening in Oklahoma? The wind has been blowing and blowing here in Colorado, though its cold so that's keeping the fires down a bit. We had a housefire in a neighborhood in the hills yesterday that could have been a disaster as they had scrub oak right up to their house and the houses are close together. Our hillsides are going to burn some day and it's going to be very bad. Anyone know a rain dance?

I always try to start positively but lose it somewhere along the way. I have a bit to learn because I have a lot to be thankful for, Good Hubby, 2 brilliant children, family, friends, colleagues and much much more.

It's like I tell my DH, if you are going to have a self for filling prophecy, make it a good one. I start each day that it is going to be a great day and it userly is.

Haven't been too well but Mary Alice, you seem as cheery and on track as usual! Getting used to some new medication and have overindulged myself on the diet front. Our promised good weather for Easter seems a little premature asit is cold and we've had hailstones!

Good Morning. I went for my walk this morning. It was hot and muggy. Yesterday when I was driving home from work, I saw someone flick a cigarette butt out of the car and the grass caught fire. That's how dry it is in Houston. My friends that are in Texas and other dry places, be careful.

Good morning! Today is my errands day so going to pop on that pedometer and see how many steps I rack up. Looks like I am going to have to call the rheumatologist to get a referral back to the foot ortho surgeon. My right foot needs the same surgery as my left one (done 11/2007). I was hoping to put it off until Fall - like after all the summer warm beach walking is done. But I definitely need to figure out just how I am going to accomplish that..lol.

I like living. I have sometimes been wildly, despairingly, acutely miserable, racked with sorrow, but through it all I still know quite certainly that just to be alive is a grand thing. Agatha Christie

Here is a challenge for you. Every time you hear, read or say the name of your state, suck in your abs and hold for 30 seconds.
