Hi, folks. I had left this team and a few others in an attempt to not drown in SP emails every day. Dixie_Amazon was kind enough to invite me back, so here I am. I'm 50 and have been a Saints fan since I was 7 years old. I am SO psyched!! It's good to be back with y'all.

Eat2Live, are you back home now? It's great to see your lovely smile again!

Good morning, team! Hope everyone is doing well. I'm doing fine. I survived watching the Saints game on TV but had a few heart attacks in the process. I'm not a sports fan but I'm so happy for the team and the fans.

I'm still trying to build some positive momentum as it relates to getting in exercise and going to the gym. I did pretty well last week and will try to add on another day this week. My daughter is going to go with me to the gym this morning so I'll have a workout buddy today.

I hope y'all are having a good week. Looks like we have more cold weather coming our way. Take care and stay warm.

Here's a little motivational thought for today from greatday.com :

Here To There

You can get from here to there. In fact, you've already begun the journey.

You can live the life you envision. So fill that vision with sound and color, with texture and rich detail.

Right now, as the result of what you are doing, you are going somewhere. Choose to make it somewhere you truly want to be.

The fulfillment of your dreams may seem to be a long way off. And yet, even in this very moment you can feel the joy of living those dreams.

Get busy and get on your way, for the path stretches out in front of you. Keep yourself inspired and in motion with your vivid imagination of how it will feel to arrive.

You know you can get from here to there, and you know how truly fulfilling it will be. Already, you're making great progress. -- Ralph Marston

Going to see my orthopedic surgeon today as a follow-up on my knees (osteoarthritis) and hands (rheumatoid arthritis). Doing OK, but the cold weather is really making it hard on the hands--my RA is early (doesn't even show up on xray yet), but it still gets my attention! Then I've got repeat lab work tomorrow at my family doc's office to see if my thyroid and kidney function tests have straightened out yet...wish me luck!

Good morning everyone!!!! Hope your day is going well! Spent the entire day yesterday at UMC with my sister. We spent the day playing catch-up as we hadn't visited or chatted in quite awhile. Her thyroid's are acting up again and she needed some meds. Not much happening today except for being rather chilly last night and this morning. Will make for a good walk later though. Just found out that I have a brand new great-niece.

Good Morning All,

Hope everyone has had a gread week. My week was a very long and busy one at work. So I didn't really have much time to get on. I did not have a loss this week. But I also did not have a gain. So that is a good thing.

Enjoy your Sunday I am off to take a walk around the park and then to the grocery to pick up some buns to go with the pork tenderloin that I have cooking in the crockpot for dinner tonight. Pulled pork bar-b-que, cold beer and the Saints.

I am new, too. I have succeeded in drinking more water. I gave up all carbonated beverages and try to keep a bottle of water handy at all times. I do well at home, but struggle at work to remember to drink. Maybe if you just made yourself drink a glass every 2 hours it would become habit.

Goatcheezer, I keep a 1-liter bottle of water with me everywhere I go. I sip from it all morning long, and usually by noon it's time to refill it. I also love the Lipton Green-Tea-To-Go packets, especially the Mandarin-Mango flavor...really helps me drink more water without any added calories.

Well, team, I had a long and busy weekend and now I'm ready to conquer another week. I'm trying something new as far as my workouts go. I'm incorporating some of the P90X workout system into my routine. I'm not totally switching over to P90X though because I don't want to give up all my runs for the cardio program so I'm only gonna mostly follow it.

Anyway, that's what's going on in my world right now. What's up with y'all?

At least I included them in the food tracker! NO CHEATING tomorrow. Nice to be here with others that are fighting the same fight.

Good Evening Ladies,

Hope everyone has had a great weekend. I have not done to much today other then some laundry and got my workout done. Back to work in the morning and hope it is much better then this past week. One day I got chewed out for something that happened way before I even went to work for this company. Then on Friday we had a virus hijack our computer and that took us six hours to take care of. Then Sat. it seemed we were still having problems with it. Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow I may not be able to get on until tomorrow evening.

I like your screen name!.Eat to live. In fact that is my personal motto."Eat to live - don't live to eat". I try to remind myself to follow that rule daily....so I guess one could say your screen name is a motivator in and of itself to me. Have a great week-end.

Good morning Everyone especially to you Kathy!!!! Hope your day is going well so far especially with the crocheting. Wow, some night you had there! it wasn't nearly that bad here in Crowley. I knew about the high winds though as it was reported in the evening news. So where do you think everyone is these days? It's been awfully quiet in here for quiet awhile now. Yes, I'm rooting for those Saints too! Sure hope they win today. I really don't like this warmer weather though. To me it's just to warm for the middle of winter. Well wishing you and anyone else whom may drop in a great afternoon and evening ......... emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good morning, team. What a storm that was last night. My house was rocking and rolling! I knew we had a front coming through but none of the weather forecasts that I saw predicted the high winds we experienced in Slidell. After it was almost over, at 11:30 PM last night I saw that the National Weather Service issued a high wind warning and advising we take precautions. We had sustained winds of 40 MPH with gusts up to 60 MPH. I checked around outside once it was daylight and was happy that we had no roof or siding damage and my patio furniture was still on the dock and not in the water.

I'm planning to stay inside today; may even stay in my PJ's. I'm trying to relearn how to crochet and today is a good day for an inside project. I just have to watch myself and the mindless eating. Which is why I love the idea of crocheting; it's keeps my hands and mind busy.

I hope y'all have a great weekend. Go Saints!

We had some pipes bust with all that cold we had. The good news is that we had a lot of extra water in the house. Since I started working towards my 8 a day, we keep two pitchers on the counter and one in the fridge.
Sunny weather brings sunny Liz! Goodbye excuses to not go walking!

Wow! It's still too dang cold! I was glad that today was warmer even though it meant a burst pipe in the other house that shares our water meter. Since the individual houses don't have shut off valves we had to shut off the water at the meter and we didn't have water for most of the day. We did get it back up before our company came but it was a close call.

I did a new workout video this evening. YogaX from the P90X dude. It was tough but I managed to make it most of the way through without too much modification. It was by no means easy but I enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to getting the DVD now.

Anyway, thought I'd drop by and see how y'all are doing and let you know that I've survived the cold so far.

Best!!

Good Afternoon Everybody!! My day is going well so far. Have to get the house ready for our Landlord as he is coming to give us the scoop on the house and weather we get to stay or move. He's putting the house back on the market to sell and we have no money for this month's rent. And found out this morning no money in the checking account either. Well enough of me!

Lonna I completely understand how you feel about being in the CCC. Wishing you much luck getting ready for it!!

Marianne Good Luck with the weigh-in. Don't be discouraged!!!!! You did loose and every little bit counts. You did great!!!

Kathy Ohhhhh no a broken pipe. No one deserves that! Thank God we haven't had any pipes to worry about. but this water pressure, it's something else. I am feeling a little better today, Thank You!!! It's not a cold it's the glands in the top of your neck that go up into your head. They swell up and then hurt until they go down which can take days sometimes. I heard the teps going to warm up but more rain emoticon . I liked the motivational!!!! Thank You for sharing!!

Wishing you all a great afternoon and evening....... emoticon

Good morning, team! It's 19 degrees right now in Slidell; I feel like I'm still in VA. But no snow and ice to deal with; thank God! We thawed out a little bit yesterday; enough to find out I have a broken water pipe. Hopefully, that will get fixed this morning.

CINDYLOU58: Thanks for the well-wishes. I'm glad you enjoyed the motivational message. Hope you are feeling better and aren't catching a cold.

LADY51: I'm so glad to hear you've found the source of your pain and that the cyst is benign. You'll be back in the exercise saddle again before you know it. Good luck!

FLEUR-DE-LIS56: I used to run the CCC in the early 1980's. I think my last race was in 1986. Back then, the course was from the French Quarter, up Prytania Street to the Audubon Zoo. It was an amazing experience and one I still dream about from time to time. There is a new course now and a training schedule on their web site:
www.ccc10k.com/site.php?pageID=3 . I doubt I'll ever run again but I would love to walk the CCC in 2011. Good luck in your efforts!

MBORD427: Weekend eating is a challenge for me too; especially when I have to stay indoors. Good luck with the Biggest Loser contest. Stay warm!

BECCA: Hope your work weekend went by OK. I too am ready for warmer temps and would consider anything in the 50's a heat wave! I look out at my pitiful garden and am looking forward to when I can get out there and do yard work again. I don't even think about eating when I'm working in the garden.

MYSPARKS7: A pot of beef stew or vegetable soup sounds good; I think I'll head to the grocery today to get the ingredients. Hope you have a good day!

Well, hopefully the plumber will be here soon to fix the broken water pipe. Then I can turn the water back on to the house and start cleaning. That should burn off a few calories. And I'll head back to the gym and get back into my 3 times a week routine. I hope y'all have a good week and hopefully we'll have warmer temperatures towards the end of the week.

Here's a little motivational message from:
www.greatday.com

YOUR TIME

Yesterday was a great start. Today, you can do even better.

What you've done up to this point is impressive. What you can do now is phenomenal.

You've put great time, effort, pain and sacrifice into becoming who you are. Now is when you can harness all that value to become the best of who you can be.

Feel the goodness and the rightness of your past accomplishments. You are here to make a difference, and when you do, you know without a doubt that you're connected to your deepest purpose.

The warm sun shines, the cold wind blows, and life offers new joys and challenges with each dawning day. Through it all, no matter what, you can offer your own unique value in return.

Learn from the disappointments and build on the successes. This is your time to fulfill your best possibilities.

Good Morning Everyone! It is freezing in Watson, LA. I am getting ready to leave for work. Just ate a good breakfast, which is hard, but I know is the key to success. This morning is the weigh-in at work. We have started the Biggest Loser Contest and this morning's weigh-in is after the 1st week...wish me luck. I wouldn't say luck, because it has been a hard week for me. I was pretty good all weekend, except Saturday night. Well got to go and will checking back in later.

Good Evening Cindylou,

I did not get much done today. At least not everything that I wanted to do. As far as the 5k and 10k I just want to walk them not interested in racing at all. Would just like to finish them in a decent time. I guess just want to be able to say I did it. Hope you have a great evening.

Good Evening Everyone!!! Looks like it's just you and I again Lonna. Don't know where everyone has gone to , maybe just trying to stay warm. I was athletic in high school but that was years gone by. LOL I have no desire to compete in a race but I do like walking. I am wishing you much in preparing and finishing this race. "Good Luck""!!! I'm rooting for you!!! Having just one day off a week is not good at all. Keeps you to busy on your only rest day. Well anyway enjoy your evening ...... emoticon emoticon

Good Morning All,

Hope everyone had a great rest last night. I know I did sure did, slept in until 8. Fixed my DH some breakfast now I need to get a little housework done. There is just so much to do when one only has one day off a week. Between the housework and wanting to get on the treadmill don't know which way to go first. Well just sitting here is getting nothing done. Will check back later after I get something done.

Good Evening All,

Hope everyone has had a great day. It has been a long one for me. I am so ready to head to bed.

Cindylou the CCC is the Crescent City Classic 10k race. It is in April down in New Orleans. I really don't know why I want to walk in this race. I have never been the athletic type. Hated PE in school but now that I am 53 I want to walk in a race. Go figure!

Well all have a great evening. I am going to go and download my Bodybugg and go to bed.

Good morning team, well we woke up to another cold one today, everybody try to keep warm. I was thinking about making a pot of beef stew today then realized I didn't have the stew meat for the recipe; it is too cold for me to go out to the store so I'll make vegetable soup (I do have chicken if I want to add meat). Have a great Saturday.

Lady51--I'm glad the docs were able to figure out the source of your pain. Praise the Lord!

MBord--I always want to eat lots when it's cold. I think that my body is telling me that I need the extra calories to keep warm but with modern central heat I DON'T!!!

I can't believe how long this cold spell is lasting. I'm ready for a little bit warmer temps. 55 would seem heavenly after today!

Y'all have a great weekend! I won't be on much until Monday because I'm working both Saturday and Sunday.

Best!!

Hey everyone. The weekend is here and it is a cold one, so I am sure I will be indoors. I have the worst time trying not to eat on weekends, especially when you are couped up indoors. I just started back again trying to lose, and been doing good so far, wish me luck.

Good Morning All,

Great to see everyone I know I have been hit and miss this week. More miss then hit I think. But the first week of the month is always busy for me. I hope everyone is staying warm.

Kathy I too have to goal of walking in a 5k this year, I have never walked in one before so I will really have to push myself to get out of my box and try something new. My deepest dream right now is to walk in the CCC but I just don't know if I can prepare myself for a 10k between now and then. Although I am going to work on it.

Stay warm my Spark buddies, I have to get outside now and lock up some storage units that the rent is passed due.

Well everyone, how is the New Year going? Hope great!
Well, the pain is still there, but now I know what is wrong. It is not a hernia but a 7cm Cyst. I left the report with my ob/gyn and he is suppose to call me when he sees the report, which is not until next week when he comes back in, he is out this week. I am not nervous because the report already said "BENIGN"!! Yes Thank You Lord!!

Ican't wait to get it out so I can begin to heal and be able to start exercising again.

Good morning, team. Let the Mardi Gras season begin! I got back home yesterday evening and it's so good to be home! And as of right now, I don't plan to be back on the road again for almost 6 months. I travel a lot each year visiting family in VA, IN, and FL. I'm usually home for 2-3 months then back out on the road again. But I really want to stay home for a while and focus on my health and just enjoy my retirement. I love to travel but really am a homebody by nature.

I have been a member of SP for 1 year now; January 5th was my anniversary date. I'm embarrassed to report that I started the 2010 New Year weighing more than I was a year ago, not less. Twelve pounds more; to be exact! I need to get that out on the table and move on. I am trying hard to not beat myself up over it and not feel like a failure.

Through the SP tools such as blogging, I've been able to identify and deal with a lot of the emotional pain that was linked to my overeating. I have such a better understanding of myself and and renewed faith in my abilities to take better care of myself. So I look forward to the coming year and will continue on my journey to wellness - knowing that I have all you wonderful SP friends by my side to help me along the way.

NEWIRIS: Welcome to our team. I hope you'll stop by often. Good luck in your efforts!

JUST4ME927: Welcome! I've been in that same ditch several times this past year. Glad you dug yourself out and we hope to see you posting here often. Good luck!

CINDYLOU58: Happy New Year to you too! I think I've had enough snow for one year. My friends just left KS yesterday and said their flight made it out a few hours ahead of another major snowstorm. Too cold for me but snow is beautiful and magical (as long as I don't have to drive around in it)!

MYSPARKS7: I don't make New Year resolutions any more either. But I do have some goals I'm working toward this year and will post them in the LA 2010 Challenge thread. My biggest goal for 2010 is to work out at the gym at a minimum of 3 times a week. I would love to walk in at least one 5K and perhaps even a 10K race this year. I used to be a runner and ran 10K races all the time. I just finished physical therapy for my knee and am hoping with my gym workouts I can actually accomplish this goal. We'll see! Have a great week!

LADY51: I'm sorry you're still having pain but glad it's not a hernia. Hopefully, your doctor will figure out the cause soon. Good job on eating and exercising; keep up the good work. Let us know how your doctor visit goes on the 22nd.

HOLLYBEE110: Your career sounds so interesting; I was wondering what the heck you were doing out on the rigs. I was very glad to hear that the guys out there treat you well and with respect. In the 1970's I was working in a career field that had previously been dominated by men and many did not welcome us with open arms. It's encouraging to see how times have changed. I cannot imagine doing what you do; especially in this cold weather. My hat's off to you!

BECCA: Even though I just came home from VA where we've have temps in the teens and the high temp was in the 20's, the cold in LA is much more penetrating and miserable that it is in VA. I guess it's the difference in the humidity. The VA cold is much more tolerable than LA; where it just chills you to the bone. Most of my federal government career was spent managing the system that we use to deploy and redeploy our Nation's military and I am honored by what those men and women do for our country. It hurts my heart to see so many of our military being deployed over and over again. It's so hard on them and their families; especially the young children. I'm glad you got to welcome your family friend home. I'm sure it meant a lot to him! Hope you have a good week!

Well, I'll close for now. I hope we'll see the sun and warmer weather soon. I loved reading all your postings and hope to hear from y'all often. We are in this journey together. Please let me know if I can help you! Thanks for the support you give to me!

I'd like to leave you with a little motivational message from www.greatday.com :

A LITTLE BIT OF SUCCESS

A little bit of success gets you enthusiastic about making even more success. So what can you do right now to create just a small, but meaningful success in your life?

A tiny step forward is, after all, a step forward. And there are plenty of ways, in every moment, to take just a tiny step forward.

Every time you make a difference, your confidence grows. This day is filled with opportunities, both big and small, to make a difference.

Success in one area of your life spills over into all the other areas of your life. When you feel yourself being effective, that makes you even more effective.

So even though it may not solve your biggest problems right away, take that next opportunity to make a difference. Build yourself some positive momentum.

The most enduring opportunities come in small doses, one moment at a time. In this very moment, there's one for you that's waiting to be claimed.

CindyLou-I live about an hour or so from Alexandria north of Winnfield. It took us about an hour and 15 minutes to get to the airport from my house. We were meeting a family friend coming home. He volunteered for the deployment and then found out that only a few months after coming home his own unit will be up for deployment. He's in the Air Guard unit based at Camp Beaureguard. It was really good to see him and he wasn't nearly as wiped out as we had expected after 24 hours of travel. The only downside was that I had to rush home to drop the husband and the kids so I could head in to work. :P

HollyBee-thanks for explaining what you do for a living...I was about to ask you myself.

Best!

I'm a Logging While Drilling (LWD) Engineer for Schlumberger. My office is based in Youngsville, and I rent a house in Lafayette which is quite a haven for me when I'm on days off. It's certainly not what I expected to be doing with my Mechanical Engineering degree, but it's an interesting lifestyle that always keeps me on my toes!!

Good Afternoon Everyone!!! Hope your day is going well for you! I'll be out for my walk afterwhile. I'm glad it warmed up for that.

Hollybee where do you live or stay when you come in? Or do you go all the way home? Hubby wants to know the name of your company and what you do. Sorry about all the curious, nosey questions!!!!

Rebecca you must live close to Alex. I'm a few miles south of you in Crowley. Is the soldier you're welcoming home a family member or friend? My hubby is waiting on word to head back to Afghanastan any day now.

Good Morning, Team!! Are y'all managing to keep warm? LOL I am so glad to see the sun! I just wish is wasn't so dad-gum COLD out there. Maybe it'll kill of the bugs that our last few very mild winters have allowed to proliferate.

I'm still fighting off this head cold. I don't usually catch colds but this one seems to be hanging on for a really long time.

How are y'all doing?

I'm from Pennsylvania originally. Louisiana is quite a different place for me, but it's a lot of fun!

Working offshore, I find that I do get a lot of respect. The men are often really happy to have a woman on board, and I do my best to be friendly and cheerful. Oftentimes when I've gotten to know most of the crew, it seems like I've got a whole rig full of big brothers who will beat anybody up who disrespects me!

Unlike most offshore jobs, I don't have a set schedule so I do end up working for really long times. I've been out here 3 weeks so far on this hitch, and my last hitch was 5 straight weeks!

Lady51 glad it's not a hernia but now wondering what could be cusing you all that pain. Be easy on the exercise if there's still that much pain.

HollyBee where are you from and do the guys treat you with respect out there?? I have two brothers that work off shore too. And my husband did at one time too. Do you stay out for long periods of time ??

Happy New Year everyone. Well, I got some great news.
It is not a Hernia I have. He said the CTScan came back negative for surgery. He just said I needed to follow up with my Primary Care doctor. Well, I am still in pain, so I don't know what to think anymore.
I have an appointment with the other doctor for Jan. 22. I will see then what it is.

Well, the eating habits have been good. The exercise is going great also and with the other news, now I will step up my program so I can try to lose some weight before I go in.

Good morning team, well I am back to work after a 4 day weekend. I enjoyed the time that I was off but now it is back to the world of paperwork, deadlines and all of the hoopla that follows. I don't make New Years resolutions I just take one day at a time and try to make the best of each one. So that being said, it's off to work I go. Have a good one!

WHEN YOU'VE HAD A SETBACK

When you've had a setback, ask yourself this. What is it attempting to tell you?

Often the setbacks can turn out to be very fortunate occurrences. Because they prevent you from going any further down a dead-end road.

Setbacks force you to re-evaluate your strategy. And that will invariably lead to a much more successful strategy.

When you've had a setback, challenge yourself to find the positive message in it. Challenge yourself to find a more effective way to move forward from it.

Use it as an opportunity to step back and get some perspective. Use it as an opportunity to renew your commitment and realign with your purpose.

See each setback as one more step on the path to achievement. Then get back on that path, for success is closer than ever before. -- Ralph Marston

Good morning team. It is so cold here in VA this morning. Right now it's 14 degrees; winds are 30 MPH with gusts of 45-50 MPH. Our wind chill is -2 degrees. It is time for me to come home to LA! Although it sounds like it's been pretty cold there too!

Becca: I like the 2010 Challenge thread and will post my goals there soon.

Wishing y'all a good day!

Wow, team! What about this cold weather?!? I think that this is the longest we've had consistently winter-like weather in quite a while.

I hope y'all have been thinking about your goals for the year and would love for y'all to post them in our 2010 Challenge thread. We have a great team and many wonderfully supportive people here. I know that we can help each other excel in 2010.

Best!!

Happy New Year, team! I read this quote this morning and it makes a lot of sense "People are so worried about what they eat between Christmas and the New Year, but they really should be worried about what they eat between the New Year and Christmas!”

In a few days I'll be a member of SP for one year. While I didn't achieve my weight loss goal, I have learned so much during the process. Once I get back home to Slidell, I'm going to reflect on my past year and establish new goals for the coming year.

I wish y'all lots of good health, happiness, peace and love this coming year and for many, many more years to come!
