Well, it's all getting a bit chaotic around Xmas, but every morning I am bathing my eyes, scraping my tongue, drinking water. That is a good baseline.

Gill - I have a body brush. I should use it more often. I have not tried the gloves. Thank you for the information!

I bought a body brush, and my intention for December is to add body brushing into my routine. I discovered it is called 'garshana' and traditionally done with raw silk gloves.

My intention for December: add body brushing into my routine
My progress:
1-3 - it was quite hard for me to maintain my routines whilst my son and his family were here - I managed: wipe eyes with rose water; scrape tongue; drink water, massage face with sweet almond oil, apply body lotion before dressing. My ELD got messed up, which then messed up my energy.
4-10 - routines back to normal. skin brushing happening most mornings.

emoticon It is December! As we begin December and move toward the end of the year, we will continue to build and solidify our DInacharya. You can choose to add new things to your self-care routine or continue on with what you started last month. emoticon

If you are new to our little challenge, emoticon please just jump in where you are! If you have questions, just ask. If you have resources to share please do that, too!

..........................................
.

Ayurveda is all about timing and cycles and seasons. Ayurveda begins with self care. So that is where we will begin, with dinacharya . What is dinacharya?

From Wikipedia:
"Dinacharya (Sanskrit:"daily-routine") is a concept in Ayurvedic medicine that looks at the cycles of nature and bases daily activities around these cycles. Ayurveda contends that routines help establish balance and that understanding daily cycles are useful for promoting health."

Daily routine. We are going to build our daily routines. Our dinacharya. Our challenge for the month of December is to continue building and automating our routines. You can choose to add one or two more activities or just keep working on what you are doing. We will continue to build and add on to our routines, at our own speed. Below you will find articles that describe dinacharya and what is included.

***(Some of the articles below involve sales pitches for classes or products. I am never going to tell you that you should buy this or that. There is good information in these articles but you DO NOT have to buy anything to do this challenge. There is so much information available in books, (that you can borrow from the library) and from reputable online sources, there is no need to purchase anything.)***

emoticon emoticon Once the weather cools down, autumn is vata season. Some of us, in the US, are already experiencing winter weather with cold and snowy conditions. Routine is vata balancing, which makes this a great time to establish a self care routine! emoticon
