we started a new april challenge and it is a 90 day challenge in whateer area you want it to be.Mine is 15 lbs in 90 days. According to scale this morning that looks impossible. It can be 8 glasses of water a day, breakfast, whatever... It is not too late.

Jessica, I have a Dr. that helps me with my nutrition. He said you should stick with the same number of calories every day (whether 1200 or 1500). I consumed between 1220 and 1250 calories per day, 6 meals a day, at approximately 200 calories per meal. Maybe this will help you.

I try to consume the lower calorie number but allow myself to go as high as the upper number. I'm not real good at planning meals, but I keep fruit, carrots, and whole grain sandwich thins on hand for snacks. I also try not to let the scale rule me. I really like to weigh only once a month. I'm fairly new to Spark People but the calorie range seems to keep me losing at about one pound a week.

You are doing great to get exercise in four times a week. You can do this. You really can!

Ok, am I missing something or what? Is NWA in the middle of a challenge? I just joing the BLC with 100+ lbs to lose or more. I would really like a buddy and someone that I feel accountable too. I go to CF in Rogers and work out about 4 days a week, sometimes more, sometimes less. I gained 40 lbs since this time last year and was already overweight. I really need some suggestions. One question I have for anyone if they know the answer is...If SP tells me I need to consume 1200-1500 calories, which number is it? Do I consume 1200 if I am not working out and 1500 if I am? I am not sure that I am getting enough cal's or concerned that I may be getting too many.

I am going to try and come to Sparkpeople every day even if I have a bad eating day and a lazy day of doing no exercises. Maybe then I can see just how bad I eat and how lazy I am. I have to do something to help motivate me into doing better.

well my 90 day challenge lasted to about day 15. Am gonna start over about tomorrow.
Dids ya know that sparkpeople is having a team called bootcamp. It starts jan 2nd. Thought I'd inform ya.

Welcome Jenny, glad you are all here. I am on a 90 day challenge to myself and this last week I was depressed and did not even try. I am going to try and be better starting not this morning but today. Already had sweets and bisquits and gravy this morning.

I can relate. I have such little time to cook or prepare meals that I find myself eating out a lot and the choices are very slim for healthy eating habits.

I've been thinking about getting a Wii and Wii Fit, but worry I won't use it. Guess I won't know until I try it.

I've just recently joined the group and have just started to really try to lose weight because I actually hit 200lbs. I have never weighed that much in my life, even at the max weight during both of my pregnancies I've never weighed that much. I would like to get back to 165, which I used to be before I got pregnant with my son 7 years ago. Last week I started exercising with my Wii Fit and walking to work and during my lunch. I'm having the hardest time to get myself to eat right. I'm going to try to do a better job tomorrow, though. I just have to remember that I can do it and I need to do it for both myself and for my kids.

We also live too far from a gym and also I can't afford a gym right now. All the exercise I do, I do on my own and its hard to do without a buddy. My daughter also needs to lose weight but she never wants to walk or do any other exercises with me.

They say you should "schedule" workouts into your day, but that is so hard to do. I'm just too busy most of the time and live too far from the gym.

Agreed, my old gym always had the same schedule, so it was easy to plan exercise into your schedule, but the university classes are different every night (times, teachers, types of clsses, etc.), so it is hard to go three times a week at 6 pm if the schedule is all over the place.

I read somewhere to schedule in your workouts your more prone to do it if it is on a to do list or in a calender. I have not tried it yet but it sounds doable.

Getting there is the big challenge for me -- if it's not in my routine, it won't happen. But once I start working out at the gym, I feel great and look forward to the next trip. The last few weeks have been hectic with work and school, and my usual four times a week has dwindled to one or two. So we're starting right this week -- two days in and two workouts. Also ran for 30 minutes on Thanksgiving (guilty about eating gravy, among other things), so that has to count for something, right?

I know what it is like to not have the motivation. I had to force myself to get moving. This morning I forced myself up at 5am foer exercise. I felt better after. In fact I always tell my wife why did I stop?
Just know that we are here for you flattsfan and if theer is any way we can support you let us know!
Threestar It is a very important step when you consider yourself valuable enough for your own time and what you need. WEe all need to look at this as an investment. A longer life to be with family and friends. We all tend to lose focus (especially me.)
Glad your doing well keep up the momentum.
I would like any input as to how we can improve our support for each other.

Hey! I haven't been active other than food logging (once in a while) and recipe browsing for about the last year. When I was actively posting, I found that I spent way too much time online, avoiding my workload. I'm ready to count my blessings and move forward with the realization that I DO have time to do for myself now. I have small children who have been my top priority, and I just "let myself go". I let myself go right up to 202 lbs (on a 5'1" frame) this time! My kids are now old enough that I don't feel they are in need of every bit of my spare time, so I think it's finally time to focus on getting myself back into shape. I have dropped 7 lbs in the last few weeks and I feel like I have some forward momentum going for me. I even managed to drop a lb on Thanksgiving day! I have high blood pressure (I'm 35) and take meds for that....I think my most important goal right now is to get off those pills. I have faith in myself! For the first time in 6 years, I am going to put myself and my health first!

If I can I would like to rivive this group.
With the new year approaching it is time to take stock of where we are, what we did right, what we did wrong, where we want to be, and how can this group help?
For me, when I get into exercise I do it well. I eat healthy. What I do is fall, and
when I fall I fall. I am inconsistant with the exercise,the healthy living and taking my meds. I want to be at 190 by march or april. I want to look good for my niece's wedding.
What I need from you is encouragement and advice. I have an inconsistant work schedule and would love to hear how I can work around that.
That is my assesment what is yours?
