This month I decided that I would check my weight on the first and then again on the 31st. I could tell from the way my clothes were fitting that I had lost some at the beginning of the month because I was working out almost everyday. Now that it's cold it's harder to get out and do something. My mom and I are currently living with some friends, so I'm eating out a lot more :/ I have been sick the last week though and have been getting full faster. So, maybe it will just all equalize out and hopefully I'll have a good number to put in on Friday =D

As far as sleep....I'm 18. I think my body is preparing me for college. I can go on very little sleep and be perfectly fine for like the whole week. I try and get some extra sleep at least one day a week mostly for health reasons (obviously that didn't happen last week, since I ended up sick!)

I love reading these post. It's such an encouragement to know I'm not the only one that struggles!!!!

Sorry about all of the food references in my last post. I slept well last night and feel much better today, thank God. It's a good thing because I have alot to do this weekend. And I got a good workout in this morning so I'm ready to go. It's off to work!

I just got home from meeting with some women friends for a potluck. I ate a bit too much(enchillas, beans, chips, icecream...all yummy) but I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the company of a few fun women even more and I don't feel as stressed right now. Maybe I'll sleep better tonight.

(now if I only had a butterfinger...hmmm) emoticon

Stress has a huge impact on my sleep quality, so it's no all about quantity. I could live fine on 6 hours of really good quality sleep, but I usually get 8 hours including waking up and tossing/turning.

Eating good all the time would be great, if I didn't have these pesky short people who call me Mama and ask for pizza & hot dogs all the time! I have to give in sometimes, just trying to replace the standard full fat parts with turkey or veggie pizza instead. My kids actually like veggies and do like things made out of turkey like nachos & enchalads instead of beef, so that really helps me cut down on the fat.

Thanks a lot for the butterfinger craving, Mike!!

I love Butterfingers...my favorite...but I try to stay away because I'll eat as many as are laying around.
As for sleep, I need 8 hours. I can make it on 7 but I'm not 100%. I don't know what's wrong with me this week, I'm getting sleep but I'm still tired. I think I'm just stressed. I'm kind of over committed for the next few weeks and I'm having trouble relaxing. I need a day off from my life! =)

It is definitely easier to just not eat the bad stuff at all. I really don't miss it much. And when I do eat it I just want more!

I really think we would be better off to do it like Alcoholics Anonymous where you just give it up entirely as food is sort of an addiction! But for most people that would be way too hard to go completely cold turkey!!

As long as you make it a HABIT TO EAT GOOD and have the bad stuff every once in a while you will be OK. When the bad stuff becomes a habit is when it starts going down hill!

I would lovingly lecture you for your lack of self control, but I'd better not since I just polished off a butterfinger emoticon (no wonder all my cardio minutes aren't having more of an impact)

Once you start eating the bad stuff again, it's really hard to stop. Yesterday & today both, I ate out for lunch... normally I just eat at the office. But I did have a pretty light dinner last night to help offset my "badness", I'll need to do the same tonight but not as drastically.

Yeah, I like to get 8 hours, but am lucky to get 5 per night most nights. On the weekends I can sometimes get 7 or possibly 8, but not always...

Yeah, the last couple of days I had one real large meal each day and it kinda screwed up my averages!! I hope to cut back on my regular food for a few days to get back on track!!

Funny how important sleep is, but it seems a lot of people I know can go on as little as 4 hours a night. Not me! I have to get between 7-8.5 or I just can't think straight let alone actually DO something. I've always been a stickler that my kids get at least 9 hours per night... that's when your body heals itsself from your day of abuse and your brain gets a break. I don't know if it has anything to do with it or not, but both kids are on the A-B honor roll and our biggest problem is in behaviour... probably more energy than all the others...lol

So I did go head & weighed in today since I had 3 beers and a large chocolatini last night... only up 0.5 lb, could have been from the Whisky River burger I had to lunch too, office treat from the bad news.

But I'm going to make Wednesday my official weigh-in day and just be strong the rest of the time... resist the scales!

Yeah, in the morning right after bathroom is the best for me.

As long as I get 6 or so hours of sleep it is pretty accurate from day to day.

If I get less sleep my weight will go up as I drink about 20 ounces of water or so before I go to bed!

I think if Wednesday is good for you then do it then. I weigh right after I get up in the morning after using the restroom. I'v always been told that is the best time to weigh yourself since our weight changes all thru the day.

Good for you not getting on the scale! I know its hard now but once you get in the habit it won't mess with your mind as much.

I have to remember to stop and think.

It is so hard to resist the call of the scales! This morning dh got them out & weighed himself; I really had to fight myself from saying "just leave em out for me"... but I didn't! I was strong, but I really wonder what I weigh today.....

What is the best day to weigh yourself? Monday, I'll be heavier because I never drink enough water over the weekend. Friday, I'll be lightest because I drink my water & eat pretty healthy during the week. So, split the difference and do it on Wednesday? I'm going to stick with only weighing once a week and doing my measurements too, which I've been doing monthly.

I know how you feel about the scale. I have such a love/hate relationship with them. I have pretty much sworn mine off with the exception of weighing every few weeks. I measure myself and it helps me tons. I lost 6 1/4 inches last week. That is what matters. Getting the fat gone and replace it with the lean beautiful muscle. That is your calorie burning furnace. Your lean muscle mass. I would go with the hip/ waist ratio messurements so you can gauge your progress. I'v weighed 160lbs at one time and slid into a nice fitting size 6 and then after I lost weight with herbalife (way back after I had Thomas) I weighed 135 but wore a size 8. It all had to do with weight training and lean body mass. Use your scale just to keep in check but make sure to messure so that you can calculate muscle loss or gains. You might even experience what you think is a plataeu but be swapping fat for muscle.
Your doing great Paula! :) I'm here for you!

I have to remember to stop and think.

Yeah. I check the scales every day just out of habit.

Like you say the tape measure is the best way to tell how things are really going!

Especially if you are doing any real weight training with your weight loss program as muscle weighs more than fat.

When I really get into some serious training I actually notice my weight will rise a bit as I'm packing on more dense muscle. And if I slack off on the weights and don't do them for say a week I will lose more weight on the scale! I've seen it happen several times when I get lazy and don't do my weights!

I use them DAILY! Yesterday I removed my weight ticker from my SP Page & am going to try my hardest to not weigh but once a week. Why are we so wound up with that number? Why not the size of our waist? Isn't that the number other people can more easily see? I can tell if someone has a 30" waist vs. a 50" waist pretty easily, but I cannot even guess if they weigh 150 or 180. Some of my friends are really short (you know who you are) and when I see their weight, I think... that's not much, because I'm thinking of that weight on me! Not me at 5'nothin but me at my 5'7... big difference! So I'm attempting to sever my addiction to my scales and maybe create a new one with the tape measure instead.

Just my rambling thoughts....
