We're glad to have you join us! Check out the Forum on our Team called "Trails" these are links to some of the different city's trail systems they have in place. Please let me know if you have any problems finding the site or navigating thru them - I know most like the back of my hand.

A couple of places that are not on the "Trails" are the local state parks: Withrow Springs is located by Huntsville (about a 30-45 min drive) and Devils Den is located south of Fayetteville (about a 45 min drive). Our camping group which includes Vanessa, Carrie and myself have a combined total of 9 children ranging in age from about 2 years (is that right?) to 10 years (my oldest son) - the two 2 year olds were in backpacks last summer but they were troopers! My 6 (now 7) year old walked around Lake Fayetteville many times with us as did Vanessa & Carrie's older girls (by older I mean 4ish).

We are planning to walk Lake Fayetteville this Sunday morning if you'd like to join us to see if your family could handle it. It's between 3.5 to 4 miles, mostly dirt.

There is also the Mud Creek Trail which would be perfect for ya'll. The entire thing is paved and spacious. There is one street crossing with a bike lane one each side of the road that we use, but the street isn't terribly busy. The trail is a dead end, so you have to turn around and go back to a parking area.

Good Luck!

Hi, NWA Spark people!! I am relatively new to this beautiful area, and would like to know what y'all do for fun and fitness that involves the great outdoors. I would rather NOT walk in the malls, etc. when I can walk through the woods!! There is so much natural beauty here, I figure I can get a geography lesson at the same time that I exercise. I need something family friendly to include my 3- and 9-year-old daughters, plus my happy (but chubby) hubby. emoticon

Let the good times roll!
