I got Beyond all Measure as a library loan and just couldn't get into it. Sometimes it's just a "when I read it" thing and when I pick it up later can't figure out why I didn't like it the first time! Because of that, I don't think I will get it this time. I have a bunch of $2.99 books on my wish list and am hoping that they will still be $2.99 when pay day comes around!

I am reading Hogtied, a story about a young man who is searching for his sister who he had lost track of when he left home seven years prior after being beaten badly by his own mother. A year after he had left he'd gone back to get his sister but she was gone. Six years later he finds her and lots of things go very "wrong" for him - but perhaps God actually can work them out for good! It's been a fun if not always funny read! I am still working on The Attributes of God.

God bless, Kim

Beyond All Measure by Dorothy Love, book #1 in the Hickory Ridge series, is priced at $2.40 today. It's a price match at B&N, so that price is only for today.

I found "Drop Dead Diva" on my kindle. It's the second in the series that I had started. I am just getting into it.

Just an FYI there is a Rita Gerlach book free today that's second in a series. The first one, I got free back in April. #! was Before the Scarlet Dawn. This one is Beside Two Rivers. I think I will start them next.

Luann, I read Not a Fan last year and loved it, but I can see where you're coming from. I think the purpose of most Christian books, fiction or nonfiction, is to help us grow spiritually - which is what Kyle's book did for me. It did make me look inside and examine myself - not as to my salvation, but rather my daily walk.

I just finished a short nonfiction book by Joseph Stowell, called Simply Jesus. I read it pretty quickly for review purposes, but I'd like to go back through it slowly. It would be a great resource for quiet times.

I just finished reading "Not a Fan" by Kyle Idleman.

I am not sure how to take this book it dealt with whether your are a follower of Christ or just a fan. It really made me think and at some points even uncomfortable with my own Sprituality.
He made me question my faith and do I really do enough to be a follower or just a fan of Jesus. I really don't think I liked the book cuz it made me question myself.I have the Holy Spirit in my heart and I have been saved by Jesus for my sins. I attend bible study and do personal studies on my own and I am a good Christain so I rate myself as a follower of Jesus.no matter what he had to say!!!

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!! whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life!!!

I just finished "Down Home and Deadly" by Christine Lynxwiler and her sisters. I read the first in this series a couple of weeks ago then this one came up free. I think this must be the third. Now I need to find #2.

Also reading an Ann Tatlock library loan.

My sister's second book in her trilogy which came out in November! It is called LITTLE YELLOW FARM HOUSE IN IOWA (in contrast to her first one called LITTLE WHITE FARM HOUSE IN IOWA). Her third book in the trilogy is set to come out soon. It will be called STRANGERS IN MINNESOTA.

I'm enjoying it as much as I did her first one. Gives a nice account of the family and how life was in a little farm house in Iowa during World War II. The war was rather remote, and yet affected their life. It preserves for the reader a record of life in simpler but yet difficult times. I am convinced this record of this lady's life was very worthwhile recording!! It is the life of many a Christian family at that time.

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference!

I finished A Wilderness Family by Lyn Cote, very good LI historical romance. I'm also continuing with Diviner by Bryan Davis, a fantasy. I got a book from the library by Gilbert and Lynn Morris from an old series, but just couldn't get into it at all. I skipped to the ending and read that and will return it to the library.

God bless, Kim

I started reading The Attributes of God, volume one by A. W. Tozer. It was on sale for $1.99 for the Kindle a few days ago. Very interesting. I am also reading Diviner by Bryan Davis, the fourth book in this series and so far I am enjoying more than the third. I am also reading an LI historical Their Frontier Family by Lyn Cote. I don't usually buy the LI books unless they are around the $2.00 range, but this one sounded really good and had a good page count. So far it has been very good. I'm waiting for three of my four library books to come in. One of them is available on the 1st, a Beverly Lewis, so I am hoping that one of the other three will come up before then. I just don't read fast enough for four books in two weeks - well, maybe it will work out! I did delete one of the books that I was one on the list for which would have made it five books - that they won't do! Oh my!

God bless, Kim

I really like her, Sharon.

I started and finished a novella by Becca Fischer, something about a Valentine, but the title escapes me. LOL! It's very good. I'm reading Diviner by Bryan Davis and will probably read something else short while I wait for my library books to come up.

TLEIGH, I've seen that series posted on Amazon. It looked interesting. Thanks for posting.

Connie, I saw that. I got one of them since I had purchased three other books earlier in the day!

Nikki, great picture. I started Submerged by Daniel Pettrey but got distracted, I need to go back to it. I have Shattered on my wish list. Anything Alaska or Australia or Hawaii goes on my wish list! LOL!

I just finished Warrior by Brian Davis and started Diviner. These are fantasies. I finished Virtually Mine last night, an easy light romance - very cute and funny.

Okay, I bought Vancouver! It looks good and I rely on your comments also, Connie and Kim.

After my last difficult read, I need something enjoyable and relaxing - which for me is either Love Inspired or Amish. Amish won this time, so I will start on Saving Gideon by Amy Lillard tonight. Amy is a new author for me.

I have laughed so much in the first story of "Vancouver" (Gone Camping). Since we have a fairly large pop-up camper and I was raised camping in pop-up campers, the story of a girl that has never camped before and is trying to pull and set up a pop-up is probably funnier to me than to a lot of people. I enjoyed the last book that I read by her, too.

Connie and Kim, I'm glad you're enjoying Accidentally Amish. Kim, sometimes stories in two different eras confuses me, but I liked it here. Hopefully you will enjoy the book overall.

Now for the down side of reviewing books . . . I've been struggling with one for several days that I really didn't like, although technically it was my type. So I forced myself to read it, then had to decide how to write a review that wasn't unkind. I won't mention the book here, but will post the review in a few minutes.

I saw Vancouver on sale the other day, but didn't get it for some reason. Maybe I'm getting kind of jaded to bargain books because I've got such a large TBR pile, both physically and on Kindle!

I started on a Havig book and couldn't get into it....started on "Accidentally Amish" by Olivia Newport. I had it and read Carole's review of it, so decided it was a good choice. I'm really enjoying it. I'll try Chautona Havig again another time. I have entirely too many books, so won't have an issue finding something to read!

Connie, if you want to read the Past Forward series, I have most of it - I missed a couple near the front, but that didn't seem to make a difference to the overall story. I can loan you the ones that I have.

Carol, Argosy Junction is the group that sang at the wedding! So they are tied to the Past Forward series too. I haven't read it, but I have it.

I just got two books from the library. The Smitten sequel is one I will have to read on my computer and it is only a 7 day borrow - grrrr! I might just go ahead and return it and wait to buy it since I have two others coming up rather quickly and I have two others from the library on my Kindle - yep, I think I need to return that one. The other one is really weird, it didn't download the same as the others. It's one Carole had reviewed, Accidentally Amish. I have to go to the library and pick it up but I can read it on my Kindle - strange, that had never happened before. Each time I picked up a book I had to re-sign in! That had never happened either - ooo-eee-ooo-eee!!!

Lots of reading to do and Jake is barking at something, so I will talk to y'all later. Love ya

God bless, Kim

Connie,

Chautona Havig wrote Past Forward and then another series that I enjoyed (with some of the same characters as Past Forward) was about Aggie's Inheritance.

Ready or Not
For Keeps
Here We Come

I think I remember you saying that you didn't start getting the Past Forward series in case you might miss one of them. Was that you or someone else? Anyway, let us know when you begin her books and what you think. I usually laugh out loud sometime during the reading. More often than not, it's more than once. emoticon

I don't think that I have read any of Haivg's books. I have several on my kindle, so need to start making them a priority. Currently I am reading "Abomination" by Colleen Coble. I did not have it on my list as read, but I had read it. Must have been a ling time ago because I don't remember who the bad guy is...know it's one of two.

You sound like me, Kim (and probably quite a few others as well). So many books and so little time.

I just started Argosy Junction by Chautona Havig. Not far enough into it to give much of an opinion. However, I've enjoyed all of her other books, so it stands to reason that I will enjoy this one. Will have to wait and see.

Thanks, Carol!

I finished book 3, Moonblood by Anne Stengl and am getting ready to read Starflower. I didn't like the ending of Moonblood at all and Starflower is a prequel going back 1600 years, so it doesn't fix what I think it should - boo! It is kind of funny - the ending of Moonblood does bemoan the fact that she isn't giving us the ending she knows we will want. [insert giant sigh]

I need to make a list of books to read and the order I need to read them in, it will make life so much easier! I just have too many of them and the ones I want to read end up getting pushed back in my Kindle and forgotten in the flurry of new books I keep adding! Arghhh! When I go through the books on my Fire I see the covers and remember that I wanted to read it and put it on my device (the Fire), but then that list gets huge and it gets lost in it. What a problem to have! Praise the Lord that we do have so many good books to read.

God bless, Kim

Finished 31 Kisses by Chautona Havig today. Enjoyable light read.

Kim, I read 2 of the cross trilogy many years ago. At that time there were only 2. I could tell that there should be at least one more, but didn't see any mention of it until recently. I don't have the 3rd book yet. I think you will really like that particular series.

I am currently reading "Death on a Deadline" by Christine Lynxwiler. It's okay, but not what I was expecting. It's a light mystery.

I am currently listening to "The Snow Angel" by Glenn Beck and Nicole Baart. I'm having a bit of a issue keeping up with the people in it. I can't figure out how they are relating.

I read The Swan House awhile back. It was really interesting. I'm wanting to read her Cross trilogy too, but I just have one of them and my library has just one. I hate to get into a series and not have all the books anymore.

I found book 4 in Anne Stengl's Goldstone Wood's series at the library, so I am finishing Moonblood. I have books 1-3. This third book doesn't read nearly as easily as books 1 and 2 did; she is following too many characters in this one and following along in the Fairie world is much harder than in the "real" world (which is a fantasy world too). I am just over 75% done and looking forward to finishing so I can get into book 4 Starflower.

I am also reading Virtually Mine which is a light read.

God bless, Kim

Read two amazing books the last month by author Elizabeth Musser. "The Swan House" and "The Dwelling Place." Wonderful author and great stories of family and life!! Have not read this author before and was so effected by these stories and had to share.

Carol, she is an easy author to read. I get hung up on some of her immature language usage at times (my opinion) but I do enjoy her stories.

None of the stories are familiar and I am on the last. Lots of well known authors have contributed.

Connie, I thought I read somewhere that a few of the stories in that collection had been previously published in other collections, but I could be wrong. Did any of them seem familiar?

Carol, I liked that one too. I thought the idea of the Kissing Bell was really cute.

Connie, I passed on that one, now I wonder if I should go back and get it!

I am totally enjoying "The Prairie Romance Collection" a 9in1 anthology. Good light reads and well written. I was afraid that they would be so short that the plot wouldn't be well developed...glad I was wrong.
