I completed my 40 bags challenge in March. I actually got rid of 48 bags of stuff, some trash/junk, some recycling (cleaned out the file cabinet) and some were bags of donated items. Now that I have decluttered I need to start spring cleaning, which I am really looking forward to for once.

Today I agreed with myself to do 30 minutes of cleaning. I ended up doing 45 minutes, and now have a clean kitchen.

I fell off the wagon with my cleaning and tidying schedule... not sure how to get back on...
I did clean the rodent's cage for the second time this week and did some batch cooking.
But left the other chores. I could not find the oomph. It's like I lost my motivation. Or it's too hard to force / push myself to do a task everyday.

Monthly cleaning lady comes today and my house so needs it. Going to have to take some time when she gets here to detox my bedroom and bathroom.

Work files are starting to have babies during the night I swear. One piece of paper at time, Beth, one piece of paper at a time.

Today I cleaned the front entryway walls & doors & floor. It's a small area, but it is the first on my list of deep cleaning the whole house - particularly walls, doors and lightswitches... but also purging. Have to get DH to look at the coats in the closet to see if there are any he can part with.

Hubby and I finally attacked our closet! I threw out a few things, but have a whole bag full of donations, hubby had like 5 bags of donations! I just have a hard time getting rid of something I think I'll wear "after I lose weight."

Today I vacuumed downstairs, did the dishes, and cleaned the restroom.
My other tasks this week are to clean the rodent's cage (twice), clean the door knobs and light switches and the banisters, and mop the floor, and do chores upstairs.

WHITE-2 - glad that link helped in some way with your organising.

TRAVELBUG12 - Glad you did that walk yesterday. Maybe have a soak in a bath with some epson salts that often helps with sore muscles. Hope feel not so sore and stiff by now. Take it easy.

Today I'll be tidying my kitchen and moving some stuff around in my sewing room. Plus my washing.

Didn't do much organizing today, but did participate in a walk against gun violence - with 10,000 people here along our downtown and waterfront area.
Beautiful day !!! We walked for a little over 2 hours.
Now, I'm stiff and sore "groan"....

Paula I still wanted to thank you. I can't remember how but through a link you posted I found this set of articles yesterday - read them, and they helped me quite a bit when we were doing the decluttering today!

Yesterday I did not get around to doing a real chore but I did spend 45 minutes just tidying the kitchen and living room.

Today however I am very proud of us! We finally, finally decluttered our basement! We'd been sighing and telling ourselves we 'must' do this for more than 2 years but never dared to start.
It took us most of the day, moving stuff, dragging the clutter up to the hall and kitchen - boxes, pieces of floor covering, plastic, old buckets with paint and I don't know what else! Took it to the dumping ground together with an old matrass we needed to get rid of. The basement looks SOOO much better now.

I've done three cruises in my life all in the same year. Love Crusing would love to do one again sometime.

Grocery shopping is on my agenda for today.

I usually go to a number of places to grocery shop. I start off at Aldi then go to coles, then my local health food store, then the fish market to get fresh fish, then our butcher to get pastured eggs and chicken.

Hope everyone has a fabulous Friday.

Keep smiling,

I am going on a cruise - Mexican Rivera. And, I took an extra day off after the cruise to tackle organizing, decluttering and cleaning (at least for three or four hours). I rarely have a whole day at home.

Hope it is a fun pleasure trip.......I love to travel.

I'm cleaning up the kitchen - my counter seems to be a " landing pad" for everything I carry into the room. I need to break that habit.
I'm feeling lazy today and need to get some motivation to pick a few things up and at least clean off the counters. LOL

Yesterday I cleaned the guinea pigs cage. I was very tired, didn't sleep at all that night because I thought I could have some green tea at night (cafeine!). Won't make that mistake again!
So did not do the other task of vacuuming. I intend to do that today and also dust the living room.

That menu planner sounds awesome!

i am busy de-cluttering and re-organising my house to be ready for when my son moves back home in two weeks.

Today I have lots of have to go pick up a desk for our son who is moving back home to save money for a house deposit. Finally we have been able to make him see sense.

We've been telling him and his sister for the last few years and giving them budgeting advice finally now I think as he's growing up 23 yrs old he's starting to listen. YAY!

Also have some ironing to do, garden to water and things to tidy up and organise, washing to hang out and more before I have to get dinner ready later today.

Keep smiling,

Trying out new menu planner, started Sunday, it cost $40.00 a year with no automatic renewal. Without a credit card for a free trial I am on you can try out everything on their site & still have access after you cancel in one month, they have some of their own recipes & you can import recipes from other recipe sites to put in their file,it has a grocery list. You have 4 weeks to plan and use a 6 week menu. It does not have any nutrition, calories, fat, protein, vitamins, mineral information, there are a few basic nutrition information you can put in yourself. It lists no information on real food unless the food is in a recipe with them or another site. You set up the menu totally by yourself, it is called "plan to eat" , the grocery list you put in the stores you shop at & it provides a list for each store of what you buy at each store. I will not keep up the membership when it expires but will gather information because you have access to all information forever that you put in while on trial, so you can use the information & recipes later. What I am looking for in a menu planner is where I choose what to eat, includes nutrition information on all real foods, importing of recipes from popular sites, nutrition information on all real foods, not only recipes, like this one, grocery lists for different stores are good, some link to popular stores for ordering the food, some in the U.S. provide extra coupons for the grocery stores, I live in Canada so can not do that. There is a app "copy me that" on google for importing recipes from all sites, not related to this that I have set up. I need a low Potassium diet & have printed a list but will have to look at the list before I do a menu, I have done 7 entrees for lunch & 7 entrees for suppers, some with leftovers & some breakfasts. It has a setting to use what meals you have in your freezer as well. The menu started Sunday.

I have pleurisy, 3 types of anemia from Iron, folic acid, other vitamins not working, chronic pneumonia, chronic kidney disease and low blood pressure & blood clots in both lungs for 3 years..I am 55 years old. I had 6 operations recently. I had cervical cancer 6 years ago, no signs last 3 years as well.

Just a thought could you look around at an op shop perhaps or on eBay, craigs list, Gumtree etc...or even go into IKEA or Kmart, Walmart if there is one near you.

look for a skinny bookcase that may fit into your cupboard and use that as shelves to store your cleaning stuff.

Is this something perhaps that may help.

For me I tend to tackle the washing (laundry) daily one load and it's just my husband and I now living at home. It seems to work.

For me today I'll be doing a general tidy up plus my normal morning and evening routines other than that for a Sunday I'll be taking it rather easy.

This months challenge is mostly laundry,I have a hamper in my washroom in my apartment, a spot apartment made for it. laundry cleaners are in a combo coat closet storage closet in the hallway, no shelves for supplies so on floor organized close to the door, rented apartment so no choice. Donated iron & Ironing board 3 years ago, no room & seldom use. If clothes are hung up immediately after use or after washing I get very little wrinkles.SO now work needs doing with laundry. I live alone so no worry's about laundry.

I have pleurisy, 3 types of anemia from Iron, folic acid, other vitamins not working, chronic pneumonia, chronic kidney disease and low blood pressure & blood clots in both lungs for 3 years..I am 55 years old. Taking a load of things I have for our OP Shop with me when we head out to do our grocery shopping.

Grocery shopping and cleaning out fridges is on for my agenda today. Plus perhaps some dusting if I get time before we head out to my dad's place for a lectin free dinner tonight. emoticon

You're doing well, ladies!

I managed to mop the floor yesterday. I feel good about not delaying that task.
Today it's again time to clean the guinea pig's cage - takes me about 15 to 20 minutes. And want to tidy the bedrooms, if I can, I also have to work and see my dietician.

Donated 1 more plastic grocery bag of winter clothes, that makes 9 total, replaced with 2, 1 new bag, 1 used, all 50-75% off. I have 1 more bag 1/2 full of summer clothes that I will add to & donate in 2 months when they have their summer sales at thrift stores. I will not be donating any more after 1 bag in April until November 2018. My plan is to buy a total of 3 more bags of various clothes from different seasons this year by November, so my 10 bags donated will be replaced with 5 bags of clothes total. So replacing 50%. By November if I have more to donate, after donating I will see what needs to replace, only if I have more to donate first. My donated clothes was in 2 different sizes.

Yesterday, I tackled my plastic storage containers. Anything that did not have a top or was just plain worn out went into the recycle bin! Added bonus: I found the perfect home for the ones I have left. A cabinet that I emptied out earlier. The cabinet has a carousel shelf, so it makes it easier see the different sizes. I now have more counter space. emoticon

There is more to do, but now I feel everything is do-able. A big change.

Today I am having my weekly lunch with some very good friends - we always have lots of laughs.
Tonight I am spending the night with a dear friend who is just out of the hospital and we (my group of friends) are taking turns staying with her so she is not alone overnight.
I'm sure we will have lots of laughs too
Happy Hump Day

On monday I spent 1.5 hours cleaning the kitchen and the refridgerator. Did extra stuff like cleaning the door and a bin.

Yesterday I mopped HALF of the floor and cleaned the rodent's cage.

Today I locked myself out of my house and lost hours that I had wanted to spend on cleaning. I did manage to throw laundry in the washing machine and load the dishwasher.

Today I washed the last of my clothes to donate. I keep summer & winter clothes available year round because I have room & know ahead of time what I need to buy on sale off season. I am finished with my clothes after 2 years because of changing sizes as I lost weight. Now I have a bag for donations & as I find something I no longer want I put in the bag until full,it might be other stuff besides clothes, then donate 1 plastic grocery bag at a time. I look through all clothes after washing for size, condition & if I really like the item or maybe I have something similar to replace it with & no longer need it. All clothes is washed before donation. This month donated 8 grocery plastic bags of clothes & replaced with 2 bags. 1 bag bought new on sale, 2nd bag used on sale, everything was 1/2 price or less from both stores. Also cleaned out my fridge & freezer & threw out expired sauces on the door. I sometimes forget to check them. My power gets shut off Thursday for 8 hours, new hydro poles installed, so had to check now, bringing food to friends fridge for 2 days. I have known about power off for 2 weeks & have been using some food up as well. I will eat better when my food is back.

What I am finding is that I set myself to many things to do in a given day then I can't get them all done or if I only set 3 things to they are all big time consuming jobs / things to be done.

What I need to do is work on simplifying what and how much I do daily.

Today I'm hoping to finish some ironing and keep my dishes up to date and a general tidy up.

Well, I do not have anything completed...yet. Using the 15 minute team goal and handle 25 items to move me to completion. It is quite a challenge - both the things that need to be done and finding time to do it! But I have made it a priority since I recognized that the activity is a two-fer. The work I do shows up on my step counter. What a nice bonus. And, of course that explains why I feel so tired after cleaning and de-cluttering.

Update more as I progress.

Sounds like we are all doing well.

I did get through my book case and have quite a few that I donated. Some my mother wanted others were donated.

I've cleaned my fish tank, organised my sideboard.

Today my ironing will be finished the minute I get off spark people.

In past 2 weeks donated 4 plastic grocery bags of clothes, today donated 4 more, 8 so far replaced with 1 bag. Tomorrow at thrift store everything 1/2 price, hope to get 1 bag of clothes, most regular priced items are $4.00 including pants which I need some, so will be $2.00 each with the sale, cheapest thrift store where I live. Will have 2 more bags to donate, one winter, one summer, need to wash first, next month. In past 2 years I have donated 8 large green garbage bags of clothes plus other plastic grocery bags, in 5 different size's. Now that it is done, I will keep 1 small plastic bag available so when I find something I no longer want I put it in it till full ,then donate. I no longer have to go through my closet or dresser anymore.
Today also checked my cupboard for food & have 1 bag to donate to food bank.

On Friday I cleaned the guinea pigs' cage, did not have time and energy to do more. Yesterday we were away all day visiting my parents.
Today I cleaned the bathroom floor (and also made pairs of a lot of socks, that deserves mentioning! grin). Husband vacuumed.

Mopping the floor and cleaning the fridge will have to get done later, didn't get around to those tasks this week.

For next week these tasks are on my list:
Monday: clean toilet, cleaning the kitchen
Tuesday: clean the fridge, clean cage, vacuum downstairs
Wednesday: Mopping the floor, tidy bedrooms
Thursday: wash laundry, clean garbage bins
Friday and the weekend are for doing chores I might not have managed to do as planned. Or for decluttering.

My kitchen is cleaned and organised now finally. It was never that bad but every now and again it's good to go through and do a de-clutter again.

Tomorrow I'll be tackling my sewing / ironing room.

Thank you Paula! Indeed there is always SOMETHING that needs to get done! emoticon emoticon

I had to tell myself this week to be content and compliment myself for doing the chores I HAD done instead of looking at all the things that still need to GET done... I tend to try to tackle it all at once and then get very sore and fed up and give up for a week or two. So consistency is key for me.

Hello Everyone!

My March goals are the team goals of 15 mins. of cleaning/decluttering and handling 25 items. Day one and finished both tasks! I would to say the house is perfect, but that would be far from the truth. emoticon I will just keep going... emoticon

I love it that so many of you posted that you also pick your house before the cleaning crew arrives. I agree that it is easier to find stuff when it is all done.
My house looks great - squeaky clean !!!!!

I do that when my cleaning lady is due to come I have to pick things up from the floor otherwise things don't get moved to clean around. She's told she's not allowed to move stuff for health and safety reasons.

I have a cleaner once a fortnight under a scheme in which I'm entitled to due to my physical limitations (oseoarthritis both hips, scoliosis)

I pay $10 a fortnight for it the rest is subsidised by the government. I only have 1 and a hour hours allocated and my cleaner cleans our en-suite bathroom (wish I had more time allowed to get both bathrooms done oh well at least the main one we use the most gets done) then she vacuums the whole house and mops.

Today I will be tidying and de-cluttering and re-organising my kitchen cupboards well this morning anyhow.

In the afternoon my husband and I are headed off to his doctors appointment when he comes home from work.

He has his appointment to go to the hospital in two weeks to start the process of getting ready to have his lymph node in his neck the enlarged one fully removed under surgery then tested to see if it is cancerous or lymphoma. The biopsy came back all clear and our doctor said that was not good enough as the lump in his neck has not gone down. but then it has not changed either or grown or anything.

His brother (the naturopath one) and myself both say we would not be having the surgery as we fix things naturally when and where possible.

My husband said he's going to give our new eating plan (diet if you like) a good try till the scheduled surgery date which we don't know as yet when that will be and if the lump goes down he won't go ahead with the surgery.

Even though his brother and I wouldn't have the surgery we have both agreed we will support him though with whatever he chooses as it has to be up to him and his choice.

His brother has also sent us down some drops of potent stuff for Ian to take at night with dinner plus some homeopathic stuff all to help repair the lymph part he thinks Ian will find the lymph node will hopefully go down with these two supplements if you like for want of a better name.

Oh well now it's just a wait and see game and more research to be done on my part.

Good luck with your cleaning schedule WHITE-2 It looks like a great plan and one that will be easy to do for the long haul. It's funny that housework always needs doing lol it never goes away. emoticon

Hope everyone h as a happy and successful Friday.

Keep smiling,

Paula emoticon

I need to get more organized about keeping our house clean and tidy!
My goal is to do certain tasks each week so hopefully over time, there will be more order! I made a schedule of which tasks need to be done when and I will post a sticky note with the chores for that week on my wall where I frequenly see it. I'm also crossing off the tasks in my notebook.
I want to try to do at least one household chore every workday, even if it's just a small task or even if I do just 10 minutes.
After a month or two I hope to be able to see how realisitic my schedule is and see if it needs tweakiing. I have a feeling that MAKING the plan is a lot easier than actually PERFORMING the tasks!

Wow that sounds like an awesome thing you've done donating those items for the slim down challenge at your work.

You've also cleaned out some drawers in the process it's a win win all round I would say.

I tided up my ironing / sewing room yesterday. It looks so much better now.

I used to work at Bath and Body works. I had so much stuff from there. I had three plastic drawers full of just body care. Well I cleaned and purged it down to 1 drawer and the rest is going to use as prizes for our slim down challenge at work. We weigh in every other Friday and everyone who loses weight gets a prize, so I am happy to contribute my items for the cause. Plus those two extra drawers allowed me to get some more stuff out of my closet.

We found out last month that we will be moving to NC from OH - hubby March 19 and the kids and I in June after school gets out. Hubby starts a new job on the 21st. Lots of purging, donating, recycling and throwing this away. We've had 2 realtors come through, waiting on a report from the second one, and then we'll get ready to list our house. Still lots to go through, but making progress.

I have been working on a Potassium list from the USDA for 3 days because my kidneys are not removing Potassium even though kidneys work 55%, I have stage 2 chronic kidney disease. My Potassium number is 5.0 & 5.1 causes heart attacks, strokes & sudden death without warning.USDA Potassium list is 232 pages, I only need 100, remaining baby foods & other foods I do not eat, 56 pages done, will finish tomorrow, so I can change my diet fast. I added calories to list, so same line shows Potassium & Calories & made list in different food groups for easier planning. I can look at the list before I shop to write down the best foods & take it with me to make sure I buy the correct foods. Each page has about 24 foods, 24 X 100 = 2,400 items. Every food has Potassium but not required to put on food labels in Canada so far. New standards for consumers for everything related to food come in effect soon. Everything is passed, government doing last paperwork details. After tomorrow I will print out my March organization list at the library, cheaper there then my home printer. So in 2 days I can start my Spring cleaning & organizing.

I have pleurisy, 3 types of anemia from Iron, folic acid, other vitamins not working, chronic pneumonia, chronic kidney disease and low blood pressure & blood clots in both lungs for 3 years..I am 55 years old. Last Monday I began a clean and purge of three upstairs bedroom/junk rooms. Iím working 30 minutes per day plus roughly 15 minutes for clean up, removing trash, donations etc.

Really happy I started the project. My upstairs contains the fallout of two moves, deaths of two husbands, a brother, and dismantling two households. It has been long enough I can deal with handling the stuff. Very cleansing to let go of it! 🙂

So sorry - I forgot to create a new thread for March.
AND it is already the 4th..........shame on me, but I have been busy.
---------------
My house is a mess, but the yard looks nice. The gardner came on Friday and then I did some major trimming and pick-up that afternoon.
I need to get a grip on in the inside of the house now. My Cleaning crew comes on Tuesday and I need to get things put away before then...........or I'll never find stuff again.
