Emails and the Declutter plan -- I'm with you on both. SparkPeople is my biggest "problem" as far as emails go, but I can only point to myself about the clutter!

I've spent the last couple of days getting my planner ready and going through the 1700 emails I have - sorting into folders, deleting, reading. Down to 1101 right now. I hope to get to 0 by Jan 1.

I'm going to follow the Declutter 365 plan from Home Storage Solutions 101 website. Hoping for progress next year.

I've been off this entire week. Working on getting through the house clutter - one corner at a time. Today, I am working on my home office desk clutter. This one is tricky for me. I have papers I want to keep for reference, but once I put them in a file drawer - I never look at them again. I wonder if I would be better off with a scanner and pacing the documents online???

Anyone figure this one out?

Almost the end of the year and I have a cough/cold that is going around. I don't feel "sick", just dry cough.
Today I am going to a new eye doc and hopefully get a good Rx for some new glasses. I need to be able to see better !!!!
The new year is almost upon us.....

Sounds like you all are on track.
I fell off the track a couple days ago with a terrible cold and relentless cough,
so I have been either in bed, or on the couch - napping both places.

My stomach muscles ache and I know it is not from exercise.

Still no holiday shopping done - but we are not celebrating until the 1st when my niece
arrives in town.
Keep up the good work gang....

Spent the rest of the week cleaning gently. Today, I am working on the kitchen

There will be 10 of us. So I have to do it well LOL

My husband & I hit Walmart before 10:00 a.m. today and it wasn't too bad. But a friend stopped by there around noontime and said it was a madhouse. Just time your trips right is, I guess, the answer.

At any recycling event they charge & have a limit on the amount, 1 small bag only & the papers I have to shred are small not 9 X 11, small little bills & notes with information, they would not do that anyway, only regular papers. I will see if I can find a shredder in a second hand store to get my paper work caught up on, sometimes $5-$8. They only do it 2 times a year.

Today I took the time to go search out a new eye dr. and make an appt for a new glasses Rx. My previous Dr. retired last year and I needed to get this going.
I've not been able to read much for several months ( not to mention thread a needle or do any thing that required close-up) and I hope the new Dr. can get a good Rx for me for new glasses.

I need to do the same with my daily schedule. Not everything is getting done and I'm getting behind. Regarding the shredding: we have a mobile unit that shows up twice a year or so at our local shopping plaza. That makes quick work out of shredding a box or two rather than having to do it one piece at a time!

Lin, In my area we can shred papers etc at local events, also at libraries, police stations etc.
So, if you don't want to spend the money right now to get a shredder - maybe your area is having a recycle/shredding event......
Congrats on getting the papers all ready to shred !!!!

Well - today instead of picking up messes..... I'm making more.
I've been sewing all morning making placemats for
"Meals On Wheels" - we donate them through my quilt guild.
So, tonight I have 6 to turn in.
-----
Now I'm sewing fabric frames around quilt labels for my Prayers & Squares group -
I need to step away from the sewing machine and start cleaning up the messes.
Happy Monday !!!

I'm sure you have all heard of the massive wild fires here in Southern Calif. and today is better, they are still burning, but the ones close to me are reported close to being under control - they will burn for many more days - hundreds of homes and property lost
Lots of animals lost or evacuated - very sad
But, I'm glad it is cooler today and overcast and best of all no wild winds - I hope it stays this way.
Because there are many other fires in Calif that are still burning wild and they all need attention.
We are all praying for rain and lots of it.......but we don't get much rain here.

been keeping a close eye on the fire and yep, we are ready to go if needed. It would be more involved this time as apposed to 2007 since Alex has a lot medical equipment. praying for no new fires today.

cleaning wise, got most of the christmas stuff up and house picked up for church quilting christmas potluck this afternoon. Batch cooked healthy soup and will make stir fry veggies for potluck. (everything is already chopped up and ready.)

Yes, it's always good to be prepared. We have an emergency stash going, but it needs to be reviewed and updated. Don't forget -- if you're on prescription meds, make sure you have extra or have a plan to take your current ones if you have to evacuate. That goes for cash, too!

I've got the 10 windows, miniblinds and screens cleaned in the sunroom. Still have the exterior door, window & miniblind to do in that room. But this morning, I've already tidied and dusted that room (before I sat down to Spark -- woo hoo!). And the day's still young.

Lin - Thank you for mentioning preparing for an emergency. It is wildfire season here in Southern CA and several years ago I had to evacuate...... I realize I need to make an evac plan and do it now..... so I will always know what to grab/take/leave......etc.

First I am going by the 52 week list & adding to it.
Dec. 2-8
Weeks I will not be doing!
Week 45- Preparing for emergency, I live in a apartment & do not have a car to store food & other items, in emergency would be too much to remove from my apartment. I do have insurance on my belongings & living expenses including earthquake coverage.
Week 50- Create home inventory, too many items & not needed for my insurance.
Week 52- Keep a family calendar, what for I have a small family & no kids & only 2 relatives I see at Birthdays.

Dec 2-8
What I will be doing!
Week 49- Holiday gift wrap organization
Shredding papers & organizing some papers to be shredded in a pile,. Shredder stopped working so doing it by hand until I find the type I want on sale.

Dec. 9-15
What I will be doing!
Week 5- Organize recipes & cookbooks
Week 6- Create a home recycling center as well as trash
Continue shredding and organizing papers.

I have pleurisy, 3 types of anemia from Iron, folic acid, other vitamins not working, chronic pneumonia, chronic kidney disease and low blood pressure & blood clots in both lungs for 3 years..I am 55 years old. I had 6 operations recently. I had cervical cancer 6 years ago, no signs last 3 years as well.

From one overweight almost 68 year-old to another: when I'm in my front yard bending over to pick up maple sticks or branches, I always straighten up when I hear a vehicle approaching. No need to subject anyone to the sight of my "britches" - LOL!'''

Today I put up my Holiday Lights on my eaves (and around front pillar) - I use a staple gun and then masking tape on the pillar. (icicles on eaves and color lights around the pillar)
I have had a very sore shoulder for several weeks (need to go see the doc) - and WOW was it hard to put up the lights !!!!
But they look nice and I have a timer set so that will turn off and on daily.
Can you picture and overweight 68 year old gal - up and down on the ladder installing those lights????? I'm sure I was a real "site"........NOT
Just finished wrapping my gag gift for a party I'm going to tonight - .......let the holidays begin.
