It is the last day of the month and today I hope to get my house put back together, furniture put back in place and other things.
The carpet is now dry and just need to get "moved back in".
Looking for a more peaceful month starting tomorrow.

So glad to hear that everything is back to normal. What a mess! We had a major flood a few years ago when our dishwasher ran all night long and flooded the majority of the house. We live in a bi-level so it ruined the main living areas upstairs and the family room and half bath downstairs as well. We decided to do the work ourselves and make improvements that we wanted and it's taken us until this year to get it done. New kitchen renovation, new wood floors to replace carpet in dining/living rooms and hall along with new paint on walls and ceiling, new interior doors, new baseboard and trim, downstairs new ceiling with recessed lights, new paint, new carpet and completely renovated half bath. We still have a few minor projects to finish up but it is so much better than before.

So far today, I have cleaned the bathroom, washed the shower curtain and cleaned up my inbox. I plan on working in the kitchen after lunch. Bible study to work on too.

Happy to announce that the leak (from fridge water line), mold, mildew, wet carpet and pad are now all taken care of.
The carpet guy arrived this AM, took up 1/2 the carpet (the part that was previous soaked by the leak.
He put down new pad, stretched the carpet, then shampooed by whole living room/dining area. It looks fantastic and now it seems (fingers crossed) that the whole leak mess is resolved, repaired, cleaned.
I still don't recommend Lowe's or their delivery service XPO..... but I'm glad it is all over.
(still have a small brown stain about the size of a quarter where a chair leg was on the set part for about 2 weeks before I knew there was a leak.
Sheesh - I'm too old for this stuff emoticon

Just an update. Went to Lowes and talked to the manager - he was very nice and concerned about the damage. They are going to file a claim with the delivery company they use and he said I should not pay anything. He even offered to take the fridge back if I do not want to keep it. I emailed him all the photos I took of the damage and he told me to cancel my plumber appt -- because their insurance will pay.
So.....fingers crossed.
------
This is such a stressful hassle and I don't like the fact that I now have mold on the baseboards behind my fridge ***SIGH***

Thanks all - I'm going to call or stop by this weekend before the plumber comes to see what they have to say.
I'm not good at going back to stores for problems..... I usually just never shop there again.
I'm also wondering how much the plumber will charge.
I'm taking photos to show Lowes.
Thanks for the info from you all.....

I'd call Lowes and tell them what's happened, the damage that's occurred and ask what they will do to remedy the situation. By all means don't tell them the age of the carpet, but if they ask, lie a little. After all, the inaptness of the installers is causing you to dish out money on a new carpet and padding when you didn't have to and that's the bottom line. Good luck!

OK house is all ready for the cleaning lady. LOL
I also discovered that when my new fridge was installed (no icemake on this new one)
They did not fully turn off the water connection and it has been dripping for 2 weeks.
Leaked into the wall and dining room and I now have a big wet spot on the carpet - almost 3' across. I'm sure the pad underneath is going to rot and smell.
This is very old original carpet - but I was not quite ready to replace it now.
I'm wondering if Lowe's will do anything about their sloppy installers.
It is not a Lowes installer, but a contracted company. SHEESH!!!

PS: I have a plumber scheduled for Monday AM.....

It's me "dumping" stuff on the counters that is the big problem, come in from the store and just throw the bags down type of thing. And right now there is a big pile of dirty laundry on one part because I didn't have an empty clothes basket (there are all full of clean laundry, but lets not get started on that lol)

knuckles - I bought some small baskets and I keep all the clutter from the counter organized in the baskets. Some are small to have items stand up (like lotion, brushes, combs....)

Thursday is my knitting grouop.... so I have a bit of time before I need to head out.
I made my bed - as I do everyday
Emptied the dishwasher and put everything away
all trash taken out, picked up all the junk mail, papers and stuff laying around...
and
now I'm headed back to the closet to work on my major purge of stuff I don't wear or need
and packing a big bag for donation.

Hubby and I decided to clean out our closets and dresser. We filled a large garbage bag with clothes. We both watched a netflix show on minimalism so got inspired. Now to clean out the kitchen! I've gone through all the food items and got rid of expired stuff. I just need to tackle the gadgets I never use.

I have been better at cleaning more during the week in small amounts. this means on weekends i generally only have 1 load of laundry too do. so i am caught up on general cleaning. it feels odd on a weekend when that is all done.

Went thru my closet and made a pile of clothes to donate. This has motivated me to go through the hall closet where all the jackets are stored (I'm sure there is a ton of stuff in there too)
My new fridge was delivered yesterday afternoon and I have all my food etc moved in. It is a small apt. size, but perfect for me and I will not be holding on to stuff too long, or buying stuff I don't need. ]
At first I was freaked out because it made a humming noise that I could hear in the kitchen and family room area.....but as soon as it cooled to appropriate temp.... it stopped and it is great.
Need to get used to the seal on the big door - it can be difficult - but I just need to re-train myself.

Finally bought a new fridge. Mine old one is a HUGE side by side that is over 25 yrs old and too big for just me. So I am really downsizing to a 14.3 cf fridge.
It will be delivered tomorrow and they are hauling away my old fridge for charity!!
It feels so good to have this task done. I have been dragging my feet for over a year when the ice maker quit working.

Today I sorted a bin that was at the end of my bed. It had bathing suits, too small kids' clothes that need to be donated or put in the sell bin for the consignment shop, a broken toy that needed thrown out, some craft supplies, and an old sheet set. How do these things keep piling up?!? Anyway - tomorrow will be cleaning out the sell bin and adding to it from my daughter's room and getting the Goodwill load out of the house. Later this week I hope to get to the consignment shop to sell the clothes and toys in the bin. Whatever doesn't sell goes to Goodwill.

What to do for a smelly microwave ...

1. Fill a bowl with 1/2 cup water and 1 tablespoon white vinegar.
2.. Microwave it for 4-5 minutes and leave it with the door shut for 10-15 minutes.
3. Steam will loosen smell-causing detritus stuck to the walls. ...

After the waiting period, remove the bowl and wipe the inside of the microwave down with a paper towel... emoticon

This year is a bit more stressful than normal, because the kid that lives with us and who help a lot taking care of my disabled son, has been on a cruise for over 2 weeks (gets back on Saturday thank God). Luckily I have great clients.

WOW - can't believe it is March !!!
I feel like I did really well in February ... but I still have some really large cleaning/purging/organizing things on my to-do list.
So, I am glad to have a new month and a fresh start ....
