We are looking forward to not having a payment for sure. We will put it in savings for things that come up.

Today I did very little. It is so windy and cold. We planned on putting in glass that is broken at the other house. Waiting now till the weekend when it is warmer.

Did dishes, charged phones and cooked. Lazy day

Cleaned house, mailed my last house payment. Later I will help change out tires on the Buick, pick up piles of sticks in the yard, cut roses for my house, measure the glass for a broken window.

You can post the pix on your spark page, or there is a button at the top of the dialog box where you type and it sez "add an image" I haven't tried that, but maybe it will work????
Good Luck and I'll see you on the October thread.

It is almost october and i did not get as much cleaning and sorting done as i thought. i have been struggling to start tasks. been doing a little ot at work and fighting lethargy and focus. my dad came out with the chainsaw and helped my hubby cut up some stumps. now we can get that mess taken to the dump.

I've heard alot of people have good luck grouping all like kinds of things (clothes etc) together, then sorting that pile. One thing I did once was put all the stuff I wasn't sure about in a box and putting it in the top of my closet. then six months later if I revisited it and got rid of most of it.

Not sure if I should put this here or on another thread here, but, I believe I am in a rut and have been for a very long time, although, I have put in quite a few things, into a donation bag, there are still to many things, I want to keep and not get rid of, I'm really not sure where to begin, I did clean out my closet pretty good, though, and guess if I do my drawers, to just get my butt in gear and get out all blouses, from every drawer and sort through them? Or? And same with pants/jeans? Ideas might help, but, need to get off my "Butt" lol emoticon tomorrow, I have to work!

trying very hard to organize and not just transfer everything over like I have in the past. its slow going.

I have had windows 10 on my laptop for awhile so am somewhat used to it. Don't like it as well as Windows 7 but it is soooooo much better then Windows 8 was. Managed to get my computer mostly set up yesterday. Now to get my assistants done today.

Knuckles - that is major organizing - getting new computers and backing all the stuff up. Great work. Let me know how you like Windows 10 - I'm still on 7, but my computer did the auto update and at the end I was asked if I wanted to go back to 7, I clicked YES, and my computer has not been the same since.

in the process of doing a major clean/purge of my computers. Not because I want to, but because me work computer is SLUGGISH to the max. it is several years old still running windows 7 and this morning it took three tries before it turned on, so decided to buy a new one. and then decided to upgrade my assistant's computer too so we are both running on windows 10. spent most of the day trying to back up all the data. which is taking forever since the old computer keeps timing out and not responding.

I get a lot more done if I break a big chore into little pieces. It seems easier and not as overwhelming.

Today I am cleaning house and washing clothes. Preparing to go on a trip. I will pack later.

Tried to quilt a bit but it didn't go well so I'll put it up for the day I am feeling fresher.

It is my 46th anniversary. My brother is making dinner for us. We will celebrate on our vacation.

Today I did some quilting and of course meals, dishes, made the bed and went to the store. Lazy lately.

I figure $15 is a fast food meal for me and DH. Can't lose and my bathroom sparkles and I don't have to get on my poor knees and clean! I have a hard time scrubbing with arthritis in my hands too. I never used to think I could let someone else clean for me but I'm changing my mind for sure!

Today I got up made my bed, did dishes, cleaned off the table, showered and made breakfast. I will be working on my Judy Niemeyer quilt today.

My craft (crap) table in our office. Took a little bit to go through the mountain of stuff that has collected and sorted it out into family pics/souveniers to be scrapbooked and/or put away, older daughter's stuff, youngest daughter's stuff, or extra craft supplies/Girl Scout stuff that need to find a permanent home. Don't know why I waited so long. It really wasn't that bad once I got started. emoticon

I'll be able to dry it in my back yard - hopefully :)

It is washed and draped over a ladder in my backyard to dry !!!

I guess it depends on how long you quilt in a day. I know one of the bags that had four little 10 inch strips took me about 4 hours. I would guess if you worked once a week for a night it might take a several months. I know I had to cut the borders and that took me four hours and I didn't finish.

The way they teach Judy's quilts has been good for me. It has taught me to be organized for sure. Once it kicks in you can move along quicker and do chain sewing.

It's called Fire Island Hosta. It is kind of fun once you get the hang of it. I think she has patterns that could be tablerunner or laps.

Today, I went to check out my entries in the fair. I got two blue ribbons and a 2nd place. Not bad.

I did dishes and am preparing food for company the next two days

Hi Rosie, do you have a cell phone? Many cell phones have timers on them. I also find that setting a timer is very helpful for me. Sometimes I can drag a task out far longer than I need to, but if I time box myself, than I know I have to stay focused. It also helps me to understand that most of the tasks I need to accomplish don't take nearly as long as I build them up to be in my head. I had some success in going through my closet/dressers between Spring and Summer to donate stuff for our church rummage sale. I just tackled one piece of furniture or shelf in my closet at a time. Took everything out, determined if I still wanted it, determined if it was in the proper place, and then put things back neatly. Hoping you find some strategies that work for you. Take care...

Rosie - I can relate. I find I have to be in the mood to "purge" stuff out of the house,
but it also helps me to make a list and set a timer and things like that.
Some folks on this thread have made lists of how to get thru stuff.
Let us know how you do.

Anyone have a list they can share with Rosie????

I need some and thoughts on going through, cleaning out and getting organized, getting rid of stuff in my dresser drawers and closet, some things I don't want to get rid off, but, have way too much of some things, and not enough room in my bedroom to do all this stuff, also need to find time to do it all in. emoticon I think I am overwhelmed emoticon Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

Knuckles - Bravo on how you handled the strips of fabric. They also give huge bags of strips to my Prayers and Squares group - the gals have made some amazing quilts.
I use them to make placemats for Meals on Wheels.
Today I went to the San Diego quilt show and worked my 2 hour shift for my guild
selling tickets for our opportunity quilt .

I'm pooped and ready for bed and I hope you get some sleep/rest tonight.
Three day weekend and the traffic is town is CRAZY !!! Everyone is on the road....

I got out of the habit because I have been needing to take a nap almost every day. (this getting up at 2:30am every day is taking its toll on me) Time to get back into it. but I'll be honest, it has always been a struggle.

Its the daily chores that I really struggle with. I don't have a problem saying no or getting rid of stuff, but with everything else I have to do on a daily basis, the chores fall by the wayside. :). Hoping to start working on that one little chore at a time.

TB, Amy just gave me a bunch of strip left overs from her job. they are going right to the church's quilting group this morning. One of the ladies there made a beautiful "rail fence" top using a bunch of donated strips. I think I might try to do something like that. With my dyslexia, I am finding that scrap quilts don't stress me out as much as attempting to read a pattern and making sure everything is in the right place.

I make my bed everyday too - someone once said it is like a wrapped present to yourself that you open every evening...... I like that

Today I took 2 very large bags of yarn that people have given me and gave them to my knitting group. I have decided that I need to start telling people 'No Thank You" when they try to give me yarn or fabric.....LOL

Another new month and a fresh start.
If I can maintain what I have done in August - I will be happy.
I still need to get a grip on the habit of dropping all papers/ads/mail on the kitchen counter and not throwing it away.
But overall - August ROCKED for me!!!
