I've been tidying up the house today. Company tomorrow. Now I will make Taco Soup for lunch so I don't have to cook while they are here.

I spent five hours cleaning the room last night (couldn't sleep) and it looks a world of better. So good, I think I deserve a break for the rest of the day. I am selling some of my items that I no longer need in a Facebook buy, sell, trade group. I can't believe it only took five hours of determination. I thought it was going to take much longer.

Today I am taking on a big project, a spare room in my house, intended to be a library/office but currently a junk room. Loads of "stuff" that I don't know where to put. I am going to approach this with the mantra "Progress not Perfection" and "Life Doesn't Have To Be Perfect To Be Beautiful."
Mostly I need to make space for storing items for our new camper. Our camper is currently being worked on so we can't store anything in there just yet. However, we have already started acquiring things. I am way too good at this acquiring business. Mostly stuff from thrift shops and dollar stores so far.
Right now I am checking out printable's from 30 Handmade Days to see if I can find the proper cleaning list. Wish me luck. www.thirtyhandmadedays.com/category/

Took a friend to the airport this AM. She is going on a Mission trip to Guatemala and I sure wish I was going. I went last year and it was wonderful. We made energy efficient stoves in peoples home (more like shacks) and it was so rewarding.
Spent the rest of the day running errands, paying bills, and getting stuff organized for an all day quilting session tomorrow at my church (Prayers & Squares). It is always a lot of fun and I have all scraps that I am going to be working with. It should be fun. ( and I get more fabric out of my house.)

Today I put the borders on a quilt. Now to have it machine quilted.

I also sorted another half bag of pecans. DH is gone for a few days so I will continue to quilt tonight. Have another quilt almost completed. My goal for the week is to finish 3 unfinished projects while DH is gone.

SET YOUR CD's /DVD's/VHS Free
How to do it

Do a search with the words "DVD CD donation" and the name of your city or town and state. Check out the first few results and learn what steps you can take to make a donatio

Why it matters

Times and tastes change! Movies and music that you liked in the past may not be your thing today - and the way we get our entertainment has changed a whole lot over the years, too. By taking a few minutes to find out how to make a donation, your old items can bring new life to libraries, hospitals, nursing homes, animal shelters, and much more. (Bonus: You'll also be clearing clutter from your place!)

I am down to a few DVD's ( mostly exercise). All of our CD's and Cassettes have been converted to our computer. So have our pictures ( currently over 59,000).

We consigned most of our books to Amazon, and sold over $2,000 worth of technical manuals, autobiography's etc. I have one shelf for books. These are mostly cookbooks. I have scanned the recipes I like and will be regifting the books.

Now I have a mountain of paperwork that I am in the process of scanning into my computer. That may take awhile. I don't want my children to have to go through what we did when my grandmother passed. It was heartbreaking!

And now that I don't lug all that stuff around I theoretically have lost a ton of weight!

I love pecans so I avoid eating them. Seems a serving size is just not enough. I sometimes eat a few in yogurt. This was a bumper crop year for us. We probably won't get any next year because of the storms that damaged our trees. So, these go in the freezer for cooking. My husband does love pies. We mostly give our pecans to friends and family and use for holiday baking.

Today I have to admit I'm going to play. The only thing close to getting something done will be buying the fabric I need on our outing to a Boston Quilt Show in OKC.

Don't work too hard!

Good morning ladies

Yesterday I raked the yard and bagged leaves, pruned roses for four hours. Then I sorted pecans again for 3 hours. I have five more grocery bags of pecans!!!!

Today I got up and made my bed, did dishes and am about to do more pecans.

Hope you all have a productive day!

Ran several errands this AM and then this afternoon and leading into the evening I went thru my fabric bins (I have several because I'm a quilter) and put aside all that I know I will not use.
I have it all bagged up and will deliver to a friend tomorrow. She takes my cast offs and creates beautiful quilts...... and I am very glad to get the stuff out of my house.
I still have a way to go to get the fabric madness under control - but today I made a big dent in the problem and it feels good.!!!!

This morning I have scheduled my airfare for July to a reunion in Denver with other Spark ladies! I'm very excited. I even treated myself to first class!

I am waiting for the weather to warm up so I can go outside and rake. In the meantime I will sort the shelled pecans I still have and put in the freezer.

My worst is my bedroom, I need to Get it Organized Better, clean off my dresser and Closet again.. lol

Cleaned off all the junk from the kitchen counter - AGAIN !!
This is almost a daily thing for me, because I have the bad habit of using the counter
and bar-top area as a "landing strip" for everything I have in my hands when I walk thru the room.
Wish I could break this habit.
I bought a couple baskets to put things in , but they get full too.

Thanks for the suggestion on the quilt scraps. If my quilting friends don't want them I will do that or give to a school art teacher.

Today I took a quilt class but chose to do one of the quilts I already had fabric for. No reason to start another project when I have so many already started!

Diana - fabric scraps.... I have lots because I am a quilter. We discovered that the Salvation Army will take the scraps (even the smallest pieces) and they sell the stuff to a company that grinds it all up and makes paper. The Salvation Army makes money by selling the scraps to the paper maker. Don't know if they do that in your area .

Hello everyone

This month I am working on a house full of storage. I am sorting, cleaning and purging. It will be months of work.

Today I worked on my sewing room. I boxed several bags of scraps. Later I will press and organize them as well as give away some!

I also cleaned out my bedroom taking several items to charity.

Happy New Year

I am hosting 15 women today for a little get together we do each month. It required me to pull out all the wine glasses, serving dishes, etc., and that means those areas got more organized. I always do too much food for these, but I like being so clean and organized after! Plus my husband will take food over to the kids when he goes to babysit the 3 yr. old. It is snowing so I now have to get out to shovel snow on our walks, which is a corner lot so have a long sidewalk and a shorter one to do, plus my walk to the door.

Now I'm going out to rake all the leaves off my front yard and the neighbor's - The tree is almost bare - so hope this will be the last for a while.

No monoxide problems but we had to turn off the furnace and wait for service when it was zero degrees out. All is well. Going to a museum tomorrow.

Don't know about you guys but it seems like the years are just zooming by these day and I don't feel like I have the luxury of waiting for things to happen or put things on the back burner anymore.

I want to put more work on my health and I think starting with my mind is important so I've recently watched Forks Over Knives and have been reading "Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease" by Dr. Esselstyn. I've also got The China Study by Dr. T.Collin Campbell and waiting on two other books... The Starch Solution by John.McDougall.... and The Pleasure Trap by Dr.Douglas Lisle.

They're pretty much about the whys of eating a plant based diet and more of a refresher for me than anything else. "The Starch Solution" is something a bit new so I'm eager to read his book in depth although I've seen his videos on youtube and have gone to his website on this subject.

I've also decided to restart my search for a company to remodel my bathroom on the second floor. I've been wanting a tiled walk-in shower built the 'old fashioned' way which from the research I've gathered appears the most efficient at avoiding leaks but every company I've talked with builds with new methods and materials that I feel are sub par to the 'job'.. and decided to just go with a porcelain tub and tub surround which I don't look forward to researching either.

Reflooring's on my to-do-list but that needs to wait till the bathroom's done. Refrigerator's still on hold but I think it can wait for when they start bringing in new models and mark down the older ones which I believe happens in May.

I really don't look forward to doing the research on my bathroom but if there's anything I want to look back on 2016 and say I've completed.. it's this. It's been like a nagging backache that I need to attend to.
