I started yesterday with the intention of going through the piles in my office, but my partner offered to help me get my electronics situation straightened out. Well, that too ALL DAY!!! I do feel like I made some progress though. My MAC laptop is no longer connected to my partners account, but it is now connected to my new IPad and IPhone. It took me most of the day syncing IPads - getting them updated to the new IOS system - getting them on the correct ITunes account, but I am all set to go -- AND my new IPAD is up and running.

During all of this uploading time, I sat here reading my new book, :The Life-Changing-Magic of Tidying Up, by Marie Kondo. I am looking forward to getting organized in 2016!!

I know I did this early..... but all my Holiday Decorations in the house are taken down and put away. My house feels so much neater...
ran the vacuum and did a bit of dusting.
Tonight I'm taking all the cookies I baked over to my brother's house. I don't need them sitting around tempting me.
The only thing I have left are the holiday lights on the eaves of the house and my wreath on the front door. I'm looking forward to removing them too - but will at least wait until New Years' Day.
------
Since my holiday guests are gone, I can also move my fabric bins back into the sewing room/computer room and get back to quilting. ( I had the bins in the garage for the last several weeks.)
I feel like I'm getting my life more back to the norm and it feels organized (even though it doesn't look like it to some people).

Had two books that I really did not like - so I did not want to give them away to my church or family - instead I brought them to a book exchange today. I received $2.60 in store credit......which I used to bring home three new books. Well, at least the books with the bad energy were removed from my house :)

End of the year..... tomorrow is it !!
I'm starting to take down my holiday decorations and hope to have them all put away by the end of the.day.
Except for the lights outside... I'll leave them up until the 1st.
My house really needs a deep cleaning after having guests and dogs for several days, thank
goodness I have my cleaning lady scheduled for the 4th. I don't have her come very often, but want to start the new year with a clean house (but still have a very messy garage)

Welcome to the new team members!
DETERMINEDEB1 -- you seem to be one step ahead of me in your cleaning/organizing this month. Yesterday I tackled the HUGE pile of cloths in my closest and went through two boxes that had been sitting in there for three years. I tried everything on and put the discards in boxes to go out to the AmVets pickup coming to the house today. Today I have to work, but my next project will be my home office closet and desk. It feels so good to make progress!

Knuckles - I'm glad I'm not the only one who loads up on all the Kindle Free Books. I get an email each day with a list of free books. ( read the reviews and only download the ones that appeal to me) When I start reading, if I don't like the book I don't
have any problem deleting it. (Just need to remember to go out to my account on Amazon and clean out the junk periodically.
LOVE THE FREE BOOKS !! ( I think I have only paid for about 4 books in the past 4 -5 years!!)

Guests/Family and dogs departed this AM. So I have the house to myself and I'm ready to pick-up/ wash/ clean - get organized.
They were wonderful to have here for a visit and it felt too short - but now I need to get all my holiday stuff put away etc.
Also have several bins of baked items - and I'll give those to the kids next door LOL

Welcome DANGBLONDE!

Today I loaded 4 grocery bags with books. I'm taking them for donation. My office looks so much better. I'm also intending not to buy...books...this...year. Wish me well. I do read a lot, but I think I'm a few years behind on my 'stash!'

Well, hello! I'm new to this forum. I'm desperately trying to get organized. We don't seem to have a lot of space in our house for all our clothes (tiny closets).

My goal is to get all the clothes and linens out of the living room and into their correct storage.

I DID fold a lot of clothes and DID get the dresser full.

Just need encouragement to get rid of some things I no longer wear.

The day after Christmas I cleaned up gift wrap and ribbon around the house, put gifts away. I also made room for new pj's by letting go old worn out ones. And I organized a couple of kitchen drawers that had gotten "wild and crazy" during the holiday cooking frenzy.

Today is our 3rd - and last - Christmas Day. It's been an unusual flow of events this year but rather nice in it's own way.

Christmas Eve Dinner included DH's children and their families, Christmas Day was DH & I alone and today we host my children. We both approached our first Christmas sans company with some trepidation - what would we do?

Well, we awoke late, enjoyed a leisurely Christmas breakfast, took bucco time opening gifts - sharing stories about each (why desired, how to be used - back story kind of stuff), then passed thru our day with no rush and bustle - we actually had time to play with our gifts - arriving relaxed and not exhausted for some game time before sitting to a delicious Christmas dinner.

We may have a new format for future Christmases emoticon

Well, I am done as I can be for the Christmas Holiday. Can't believe it is done. I was so stressed during this week, and I'm glad I can say it is done.
Waiting for my Niece to arrive from out of town - then the festivities will begin.

Actually can't wait for next week when I can put it all away for another year.

Yesterday I tackled the hallway linen closet and filled three 33-gal garbage bags with old bed linens, towels and a blanket that I dumped today. I knew there was stuff I didn't use for a long time but THREE bags worth... wow!!

Saved a bunch of doilies, a satin bedspread and a lavender crocheted bedspread that I'm offering my nieces, sister and SIL when I see them on Christmas and whatever they don't want goes to Goodwill. Also relined the shelves and reorganized what I kept. Can't believe how fresh and clean everything looks. There's a section for paper towels, toilet paper, detergent, etc and now I can see at a glance what needs replenishing.

Also started reorganizing and sorting through my bdrm armoire and half way done. Still want to go through my bdrm closet one more time. There's some things I SHOULD get rid of.

Christmas shopping is done and mailed out those pics last Friday. Still looking for a new fridge but it's not on my list of priorities, yet.

I'm here to report my Holiday Prep Progress. I did get more done today - but still dragging my feet.
I bought some gift certificates for gifts - I know the recipients will enjoy them and it is easy for me.
I baked about 6 dozen gingerbread cut-out cookies - but still need to frost them.... then while the oven was hot, I baked about 4 dozen pumpkin spice cookies with raisins in them. I made them with a spice cake mix and a can of pumpkin - so they were easy.
The dishwasher is finished (still need to empty it)
AND
Finally got the ornaments put on my tree.
For some reason, I still have several things to complete in prep for the holidays - but looking back, I did get a lot done today.
Wonder why I still feel so disorganized and stressed over the holidays?
I'm working from a list - so that helps a little bit.

Still working on getting the holiday decorations up, problems today with lights that go on the tree. I don't feel like going out and trying to buy more at this late date....so I will just go with fewer lights.
Still need to get a lot of things organized, as I pull stuff out of boxes in the garage I have not been good about cleaning up after myself - so now need to pick up the garage too.
GRRR constant work getting ready for the holidays.
I feel like saying BAH HUMBUG at this point.

I'm making progress getting ready for guests for the holidays. It was stressing me out and I was not doing anything.....but today I wrote a list and got started on it.
- guest bedroom has clean bed linens and empty space created for their stuff in the closet.
- put some of my holiday quilts around the house for decorations
- made my gingerbread cookie dough (it needs to be in the fridge for at least 24 hours before cutouts and baking
- stacked up the 20+ quilts that I had layered on the guest bed and have them in plastic bags in the garage (they won't be used during the holidays)

So, I feeling a bit better about it all......but still a long way to go.

Thanks for posting the Mind Body Green link. I think it really makes sense and it is something that I need to do.
I am the person in the family that got ALL the boxes of stuff from my parents house when we cleaned it out. 20 years later, they are still in my garage!!! At first it was too emotional to open the boxes - much less to make a decision. So, they are still there.
This link you posted inspired me to move forward. I plan to take it 1 box at at time.
Thanks for your suggestion and the link

A few days ago, I finally stripped down that old computer and got rid of it..yay!!!.. cleaned the bathroom, not just the usual but the ceiling and walls too.. double yay!! Last night took care of the bills...whew!... and did the christmas cards and sent them off today.. woohoo!!! I think making time for myself is part of organizing.. and made time to color my hair which always makes me feel great!

But as crap happens... found out my 17 yr old Kenmore top mount freezer/fridge is leaking water on the inside from the top and have been researching for the same style in stainless steel... and with holiday sales galore, might get lucky...fingers crossed.

On a good note... my electric bill has been the lowest in decades by over $40.00 since last month (which I think had a lot to do with getting rid of that old desk computer and going wireless plus being on a trip for 5 days probably accounts for the lower bill too). But just from remodeling the kitchen a few years ago and replacing the water heater with a tankless one and a 40 yr old oven/stove (that still worked perfectly but needed to go), shaved off $75 a month from the start.

Now if I can only get some pics printed and sent off by christmas, find a new fridge before I wake up to a big puddle of water in my kitchen and get some needed christmas shopping in, I'll be set...for the month...lol

I worked mostly on our master bedroom, doing a mini-makeover to surprise hubby when he comes home from CA tomorrow. Washed new bed linens, made bed, vacuumed, dusted, and organized both dressers. Also, cleaned out a huge pile of clutter and filled a bin with books. Whew! emoticon But it looks great and I hope hubby likes it.

Today I finally got my outdoor holiday lights put up - I know I am too old to be climbing up and down a 6 foot ladder and doing this....but they are up and hopefully will look nice what I can see them in the dark.
I also did the font and back yards - don't have much lawn because of the drought we are having and watering restrictions - but I got all the gunk raked up, ran the weed-whacker and filled 2 large trash bins for the recycling truck that comes on Tuesday.
I'm exhausted!!!
But it feels so good to have this done.....
now need to do some decorating inside and LOTS of baking for my company that will be here over Xmas. emoticon

spent most of yesterday waiting around. waiting for tow truck because flat tire was too bad to be repaired and no spare on new car (have those inflation/sealer kits that you are supposed to be able to drive for 50 miles on, but hole in tire was too big for that) waiting at tire place for new tires to be put on, waiting at doctors office with my son. did get caught up on my daily reading. :)

FINALLY finished the charity quilt I offered to finish. I don't like the way the binding turned out - but I'm leaving it.
Did all my laundry and it is finished and put away.
Have my to-do list all written for tomorrow and it is sitting on the kitchen counter - so I will see it first thing in the AM.
Need to get busy with holiday decorations - I haven't done a thing !!

I need to remind myself to FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS........ today things in my house got a little bit out of control,
but I do have my live wreath on the door and and freshly cleaned security door
(the water did seep under the front door and I had 2 large puddles in my entry-way,
but it is all tile.)

Tomorrow will be better.

Good advice! So far, it's just been some rearranging and pulling out the too small jeans to put up in the closet. I'll be careful when it's time for his nightstand. Unfortunately, it's mostly my stuff that needs to go - so many books and papers! Yikes! I have a laundry basket full of papers to be shredded since my shredder died earlier this year and I haven't replaced it yet. Time to get on that!

Tina, here's to a magical makeover in your bedroom. Just be sure not to throw away anything of your husbands without his permission. I once threw out some of my husbands science magazines that I THOUGHT he didn't care about, (back about 32 years ago) and he had a very hard time about it. I have never since thrown out anything that is his.

emoticon DETERMINEDEB1! So much accomplished!

Today I began my week long project of a mini-makeover for our master bedroom. Hubby is visiting his brother in CA this week so I'm taking advantage of the time and clearing out all the clutter, washing anything that needs it (windows, quilt, sheets, laundry...). I bought a new comforter set and sheets so I'll put those one next weekend before he gets home. I have so many odds and ends and a ton of books in there, it just needs a good purge. Today I got hubby's closet and dresser cleaned out/off. Looking forward to my new room!

What a lot to get done DETERMINEDEB1.
I got my closet cleaned out, and organized. We have hired someone to clean the Windows.
I got lots of laundry finished yesterday, and put away. My closet is clean enough that I now want to hang up my clothes at the end of the day!

This is kind of long but that's how much stuff I needed to get done after years of procrastinating.

Several months ago, I finally got rid of almost three dozen jeans and assorted tops in my closet. They've been accumulating from when I lost weight... hoping that eventually I'd fit into them again. Well, it took almost 20 years to finally let go of a closet full of false hopes and to accept where I am now and to go from here..not there. It's like a load of expectations has been lifted and I can move forward with an exciting me and future to unwrap (with the help of SP).. layer by layer. Oh and it's nice to see an organized closet again.

About three weeks ago, I replaced a worn out ten year old computer and transferred the docs, pics and music to my 3 yr old laptop and gave it to hubby. Bought a new laptop for myself and transferred all my stuff from the old computer and laptop to the new one. Also replaced an old printer that broke down almost a year ago... and reconfigured all of these "toys" to a new wireless router. There was a point when it got overwhelming, confusing and frustrating but I eventually figured it all out.. and I think I did enough thinking to last me for the rest of my life...lol... and I am not a techie or computer savy either. Just ten years of trial and error of computer experience behind me.

Last WEEK I went through two drawers of clothing and got rid of what I haven't worn in years. Still have more drawers to tackle but instead of procrastinating, I actually look forward to ridding myself of all this excess. It's like losing weight, but for the mind and soul.

Also gave my bedroom a thorough cleaning and moved every piece of furniture and vacuumed and dusted like there was no tomorrow.. and even cleaned my bedroom windows, screens and window treatments which have gone untouched for three long years and love how clean they look now. And what a difference a new mirror makes...like having a new perspective in life. Clear and focused on what's in front of me.

I still have lots to do and you can be sure I'll be posting when it happens... baby steps.

Friday already - time is flying
I made major progress on layering and quilting a charity quilt that I have to turn in on Monday the 14th.
I even made it to a yoga class and they offered a mediation class afterwards - it was great, I felt like I had a nice nap......but was just following the leaders prompting.
---
All I have left to do is sew the binding on the charity quilt and I will do all of that on my sewing machine.....much faster

Hello, All

Tue was consumed with some business documentation as was all of Wed morning.

Wed afternoon I took the longest nap awaking in time to start some dinner!

After a bit of social time (league bowling), today will be dedicated to some household tasks.

Oh My - it is December already and we have even more things to do this month.
I am planning to keep things organized....
As I put out my decorations, I plan to purge those that are not special/meaningful/...

What are your plans?
