Last night I did all my laundry and it is all put away.
Kitchen counter is wiped off and all the papers that usually collect on the counters have been sorted and tosses if needed.

I'm still dog sitting at my brother's house - but getting lots of exercise with dog walking.
AND
my house is staying very clean, because I'm not home.

I did come home to take a shower and get ready to go to lunch with friends.

Bed is made
Breakfast dishes all cleaned and put away
laundry done
dusting done and the house looks pretty neat.
I still have a to-do list, but it is all errands
So I'm off to do that stuff and I may treat myself to a movie this afternoon.

Unpacked from hospital stay but haven't yet put my suitcase away. House is spick and span due to DH picking up some of the workload. He even cleaned the kitchen bench. Today will put away unpacked stuff and do some deadheading in the garden.

Exciting to have a new mattress. And you will get used to the firmness in no time flat.
I bet you feel wonderful with all that dust gone - though I think my big clean out may have stirred up my allergies. You'll find your room is much drier now with the moisture from your breathing that your mattress held out of the room. I use an electric blanket to keep my mattress dry.

Proud to report that the new mattress is delivered, installed,
I moved the old pieces to the side and cleaned under the bed - there was years worth of dust under there. (the delivery guys hauled the old stuff away)
I dusted the frame, removed the small blocks I had the legs on and put the original wheels back on.
Washed all the linens, blankets, bedspread.
Everything is put back together, new mattress and box. new mattress pad, the room is completely dusted - looks great.
The new mattress is very very firm and is going to take some getting used to - but I hope it
lasts a long long time. The previous one was over 30 years old and really needed replacing.
Wahoo !!!

so last night before I got comfy in bed, I unpacked my suitcase. only here three days, but it will be so much easier to find stuff I want. had to do a quick switching stuff around at the airport since my bag ended up being 52 pounds. (knew it was close, but was taking a bunch of stuff back to family)

Yesterday I bought a new mattress set for my bed. The one I have now is very very old and sags in the middle. You just get used to things and get lazy......but yesterday I did it.
and it will be delivered tomorrow.
This is forcing me to really clean out my bedroom too - because they will take the old away and install the new.
#1 plus is that I will be able to vacuum and clean out under the bed.
I bought a very FIRM mattress and hope I get used to it quickly.
Feels good to get this task off my mind.....

House looks perfect after the cleaning lady was here - and today I am dog sitting my brother's 2 dogs - he is having a granite counter top installed in the kitchen and the dogs were in the way....... so I'll have to do some spot cleaning of the carpets when they go home.
They chewed marrow bones and got gunk on the carpet and a couple of throw rugs.
But it sure kept them busy for a couple of hours. LOL

We have been decluttering and the bedroom is nearly all done. This was the last room to receive attention after transforming the office into a guest bedroom.
Just a bit more work to do, then will start on the drawers and cupboards in the next phase of the declutter. It's as though we have moved house!

Last night a made a list of several things I needed to take care of:
- call for appts.
- find a tree trimmer
- respond to a jury duty summons(I'm excused for 3 years because of the last trial I was on) - needed to mail info to them to 'refuse' my latest summons
- call to get a refill on Rx
- pay bills
- etc.

I'm happy to say I got them all done (still waiting for a callback on the Rx refill)
It's nice to be able to rip that list up and move on.......

I dusted my living room and I'm trying an experiment -- we have an extremely dusty house because of the ancient (1940s) blown-in cellulose that was put in as "insulation"
in the walls. It's basically shredded newspaper... and it seeps through the floor joists and under the baseboards. When we moved in & had the ducts cleaned the guy said he'd never seen so much stuff come out of house.

So my experiment is to use a fabric softener sheet to dust HALF of several places - the fireplace mantel, the top of the tv, and along one of the baseboards. I used the sheet on half of each surface (the right half -- "I left the left side" is easy to remember) so I can see if it makes any real difference over time (I don't dust every week)
We'll see...I'm not holding my breath emoticon

I used toothpaste on my shower doors to try to get the water spots off. It worked, but not completely. I'll do it again next time I am in the shower and see how it goes.
Oooh and the joy of it! Finally the bed arrived and I put it up in the office which is now the guest room!

A much smaller looking room than when it was an empty room. but, it's white, it's clean, and it's nearly all decorated.

And most of the boxes are back underneath it, thank goodness...

cleaned the glass on the front/face of my stovetop

I was afraid to do it because it has all these little rubber push-buttons and the last stove I had I ended up cracking one of those buttons when I tried to take it off and it would never sit in place after that -- but these ones all came out easily and now the glass is shiny clean inside and out, no more streaks behind the glass.

Laundry is done and grocery shopping is done.
Makes me feel more organized - after living out of a suitcase for almost 3 weeks.

Been cleaning and organizing this weekend. Not sure if the a sort of nesting instinct has kicked in or something. But, this is the first since we lived here.

Hi All,
I'm back from 3 weeks vacation/tour in China and Tibet. I didn't do a very good job of keeping my suitcase organized and usually had to empty it to find what I was looking for......
Lesson Learned for me......LOL
