I did ok during September. My struggle is keeping up with the daily chores. and I would estimate that I made my bed almost every day during September. probably missed less than 5 days? I did manage to batch cook/prep at least once a week which really helped with the weight lose. And putting up the white board at the entrance to the kitchen has really helped with the communication in the household and to remind me of what chores I need to do that day.

How have you done in September???

Tuesday - spent most of the day running errands and now I'm glad to say I have several tasks completed !!!
Also
Made my bed - I do that everyday
Cleared off the kitchen sink and counters
Filled all the bird feeders

It feels like an organized day to me.

Even with all the heat - I cleaned my garage today. Still have lots of stuff to get rid of but cleared a lot off the floor, swept, took stuff to the recycle places.
Did laundry and it is all put away.

Still hotter than heck - but I'm in my yard watching the lunar eclipse.

It is really really hot and humid here in Southern Calif. I feel kind of sick from the heat and of course I don't have air-conditioning.
I spend a lot of time sitting in front of fan.
---------
Today I worked all day for a charity. Guatemala Project.
I helped to price merchandise for a sale we are going to have (we have sales of Guatemalan arts and crafts at several churches.)
It was really hot working in a warehouse type room most of the day getting things ready.

Didn't do anything at home except make my bed and put my dirty dishes in the dishwasher. I only run the washer when it is full - but a least the dirty items are off the counters and out of the sink.
Fingers crossed for cooler weather.

Reorganized my low boy, only three drawers, of which I hardly used the lowest drawer. No longer! I've put stuff I need in there! Moved the drawers away from the wall only to find they had mould on the back. They are adjacent to, but not pushed up against, an external wall but this is our bedroom which I keep clean and warm, unlike the other rooms that are not heated on a regular basis. So I was taken aback.
Was using the Konmari method, which promises that you only need to tidy and declutter your house once, over about six months, and then never again. She says start with clothes, then books, but do ALL your clothes at once, not a bit at a time. Haven't started yet, I'm getting up my nerve, but in the meantime, am sorting out my drawers and cupboards to scope out the programme.

Knuckles -I'm with you on that comment - same for me.
I"m still looking for the "miracle cure" against clutter and cleaning.
Just when I think I have things in order and put away........BLAMMO
it is back to "normal"

Today I did all the laundry and it is put away. went to a yoga class, and I raked all my leaves off my neighbor's yard and my yard and fill the "greenery" bin for trash collection tomorrow.
I was hoping for a good rain storm.....but forecasters now say we are not going to get much at all and another heatwave is coming next week. YUCK !!!

why is it so easy to fall back into old habits. I had been really good at keeping my bathroom counters cleaned off and my bedroom picked up. Then I did some household shopping....and it all ended up you guessed it. on my bathroom counter and my bedroom floor.

I am so bad about cleaning the oven. I don't remember my mom ever cleaning her oven and I guess I picked up that habit from her.

Today I spent several hours tidying-up the sewing/computer room.
I got all the horizontal surfaces cleared off and lots of stuff put into plastic bins, binders, etc.
Feels much more organized now - even makes me feel like sewing !!!

Cleaned half the kitchen cabinet doors, moved the microwave on counter and "prettied" up the area, then mopped the floor. Had 1100 steps to go to 10k so walked around the house putting things away as I passed by...Hubby thought I was crazy!!

Walked/jogged best time so far 36 min for 2 miles...still can only jog 4-5 houses at a time but getting there...learning to breath through my nose and out my mouth..very hard when I'm breathing so hard!!!

I'm not there yet but closer than yesterday

I wonder if there is a place that they could put stuff for you to go through, instead of just dumping it in the closet?? We have that problem with our prayer quilt ministry at church. People are always dumping off stuff that we can't use. yes they mean well :)

Today that plan is to sort through about 6 more boxes while the monthly housekeeper is here. I find that if I can "fed off her energy" I get more done.

I have a closet at church to store decorations for receptions. And, all the good hearted folks think I need their cast off vases and silk flowers. Spent 90 minutes in the closet this morning, organizing the 'dumped into the closet' mess. I have to keep reminding myself, they mean well!

A big welcome to our new members and a big welcome-back to our returning members.
Still HOT HOT HOT here, but I did go to a new yoga class today.
It was in the library - which is air-conditioned.
Great new class and I hope to be able to continue.

Did laundry and everything is put away. Dishwasher is loaded and ready to run, but I'll run it in the middle of the night and un-load in the am.

Yesterday I rolled about $185 in coins. Yeah I know I could have taken it in somewhere for a fee, but I was stuck at the house anyway, so decided to do something constructive (and yes I was probably procrastinating doing chores)

today I HAVE to go grocery shopping. we are almost out of everything. I've been trying to tentatively follow The Daniel Plan. trying to get myself ready to do the detox part. have I mentioned how much I hate the planning, shopping and cooking part??!! hard to get motivated to try new recipes when it is just me that will eat it.

I was motivated by Knuckles photos to start a bit of organizing in my garage.
It is going to be a huge task - but I really don't need to keep all that stuff.
Some of boxes have not been opened in almost 25 years !! That is just plain crazy....

I am in the middle of going through papers in the file cabinets. We have 6 of them because I was a teacher, and we have had a business. These and our normal family records mean a huge amount of paper. I know that someone eventually will have to do this, and it is better that my husband and I do than to expect our sons to have to deal with this some day. I realize that articles that I have kept are useless. If I want to know something now, I just google it. I am filling bags and bags with useless paper. It feels great!

Hi all - and welcome to the group Deby.

I'm still working on getting stuff put away after carpet shampooing. I need to go into the garage and focus on what I will allow back into the house.

Went to the Travel Clinic today to make sure I have all necessary vaccines and meds for 2 trips (China and Tibet) and (India and Nepal) - Good news no shots needed, just some recommendations for OTC things to take if I get any travel bugs..... and to fight off the mosquitoes.

garage is looking great compared to six months ago, when we had to empty out almost half of the house (major furniture pieces stayed in the house while they redid floors, but everything else had to be moved including pictures)

still have several boxes in my closet to go through and a HUGE box of pictures to decide what to do with. Have third big group of stuff to donate ready to go.

Been very good about making my bed every morning. and keeping my bathroom counters picked up. Now if I could just start losing some weight

Hi Team...

My name is Deby

I thought it was time to get back to keeping it simple... I figured this was the team to join ...
to help me keep on track ...

Last year I reached my final goal ~140 lbs.~ then gained some back...
so working on reaching final goal again... I thought maybe... DeClutter would help
create a better reflection of my home along with my now new weight...

so for September... I am hoping to finish up organizing / simplifying my Craft room...
so that I may get back to my crafting....

Wishing Everyone all the best and much Success

BLESSings ALLways ~Deby

Baked pumpkin muffins (low fat, sugar), made low fat chicken salad, chopped veggies for tomorrow's dinner, mini fridge clean and put a load of laundry in!

Whew - forgot to open a new thread for September.
I am doing well keeping house clean, the yard is dead-dead-dead with the drought.
Still need to focus on some major purging.....
How are you all doing?
