The storage closet and downstairs were organized...kitchen cabinets and bedroom closets next for our home. At this point, organizing MIL's house...having trouble processing the amount of clutter and dust.

I have two cats and I keep a lot of extra litter on hand in case I can't get to the store. Storing this was a problem. So I purchased a small cart and have plastic containers to transfer the litter into. I now have gotten the litter and extra litter boxes "wheeled" into my computer room. Much easier to manage and it is out of the dinning area and in an out of the way spot. Why didn't I think of this before. emoticon emoticon emoticon

got temporary "office" set up in dining room looking fairly decent. glad it is temporary though. they got all the old flooring up yesterday and are supposed to start laying tile today. In total its about a third of the house that was affected, so it will take awhile. And then I can start attacking the "hoarder looking" garage mess. its amazing how much stuff you have in two hall closets, one big walk in closet, master bedroom (not even counting the bed and dresser) and home office spaces.

Cleaned out my wardrobe, put winter clothes away. It's only the last month of summer but it has been so hot I think we are going to have an Indan summer. Oh it feels so much better to have a tidy bedroom and a closet where I can see my clothes!
I think I need to tackle my drawers next,
I have a dreadful junk drawer in my bedroom with about a trillion little bits and pieces. Beginning to think the only real solution is to discard everything.
So the theme for February is drawers. There are ten in the bedroom, four in the kitchen, eight in the spare room. Might start with the easiest ones, the kitchen... Wish me luck.

If hunger isn't the problem, food won't fix it.

Whirlwind yesterday for my husband's birthday. Long story but could not shop until the day of so I made him a great breakfast and then ran around and got him a few gifts as well as planned for family dinner last night. Whew! All was well except I ate dessert. Forgot to Spark! LOL Did not need it or particularly want it.

Moved recently and finally got my basement cleaned and organized. Now my garage has boxes and boxes of yard sale stuff stacked in it. But it's organized stuff...all priced and ready to go. If it doesn't sell, OUT it goes to Goodwill, Salvation Army or Savers.

rehung family pictures after big painting project. Cut the ones on display in half in the process. will go through the remaining ones to see if I want to hang some other places, but they were getting out of control. sorted out the rest of the pictures into areas I think I want to hang them. need my girlfriends input to figure that out though

It's a sunny day and I felt up to doing something a bit more physical today so I *finally* brought my old jam jars up from the basement and am washing them so I can sort them, box them up and get rid of most of them.

I haven't done any canning in a few years, if I do it again it will be small batches not the mega batches I used to do, so I can probably get rid of 3/4 of the jars I have. Feels good to have that job done, it was kind of nagging at me every time I went downstairs and saw how much room they were taking up

I did a prodigious amount of cleaning this month, cleaned our holiday home top to bottom.
Before we left cleaned our place but somehow on our return it is all messed up again. A case of too much stuff? It looked fine until we started unpacking...
Today I aim to tidy the kitchen dining room and bedroom, and get stuck in to my closet.
The closet might end up being a February task, we'll have to see.

I'm a messy sewer too. I scatter things. I haven't figured out where my things go in my new sewing machine bags and so I'm always looking in one bag or the other, and while I'm hunting for things it makes me slower than molasses.

My daughter and two granddaughters left earlier his afternoon. :-( My daughter is always so helpful when she is here and I love to hear the kids laugh so their visit was good for me.

I was able to rearrange some pots and pans under my sink in the kitchen which took me about 45 minutes to accomplish. Now they are in clean plastic bags waiting for the next big family gathering.

Travelbug I too make a big mess. I don't know how neat quilters do it! I get teased by the guild because I use 2 or 3 tables if I can get away with it! LOL.

Luckily the class I took was on a Judy Niemeyer quilt. You have to be organized so they made us label and cut and bag....

Today I picked up the house, did dishes and cooked two meals for company. I did manage to get my Christmas items to the car to take to the other house. I guess it will have to be tomorrow now since I'm tired.

Diana - I am a quilter too and I can never get over all the HUGE mess I create when I work on a quilt. Fortunately a local quilt shop has a free sit & sew all day each Friday and I get to go spread out and make a mess there.

I got my armoire back from a friend yesterday, and today I'm using that extra space to organize my bedroom (aka "the storage closet")

This past week I've organized the linen closet, lined a few kitchen cabinets with more to do, throughout and donated items from kitchen and love the lack of clutter now. On to new organizing this week.

Today I am going to put the holiday cookie tins away, but first will go through to see which ones are no longer needed and get rid of them. Next I am going to go through the grandkids toy box and get rid of toys that are broken or they have outgrown.

Only I can make it happen

Today I am putting up things from our 8 days away. Then I will haul some Christmas to the other house that needs to be put away. Then I will likely go through some boxes and repack and purge.

I cleared a lot of junk paperwork out of my computer and even got my grocery shopping done.
I have 2 annual medical appts. tomorrow and it will feel good to have them off my calendar for another year. I think I will end up with new glasses - again......I sure hope insurance chips in for them.
Today is my birthday and I have had a great day.

Laundry, swept kitchen floor, sorted through some papers for recycling, and cleaned out a corner of the bedroom that was stacked with books, some to save and some to donate to the library.

Completely tore apart and reorganized the basement, sorted and photographed the wedding decorations to sell, then boxed them up out of the way. We can actually use the game room area of the basement again finally!

Organized clothes closets with new hangers. Then, setup clothes by color coding; place similar clothes together shirts, sweaters, skirt suits, jeans, dresses and pant suits. Purchased clear shoe boxes to organize shoes to place on top shelf that cannot fit on the shoe rack at bottom of closet. Finally organized handbags on the other top shelf.

Whew! Reading what you have accomplished makes me tired!

I am working on the paperwork for the taxes. I have to separate and coordinate three accounts. I'm about half finished. Not too bad considering I have had vision difficulties with a cataract removal on Jan 7!

Since the end of December, I have been working on organizing my kitchen & creating counter space. To achieve this, I put up a magnetic strip for my knives & got rid of the wooden block. I painted & cut into 12" squares pegboard and now hang up large utensils as well as my iron skillet. I also hung baskets for fruit and veggies. I cut an iron looking shower caddy down to just the shelves and hung that beside my stove for a spice rack. I took the soap dish area of that same caddy and attached it over my sink to hold my sponge & dish brush.

I am working on sorting my mail. This is my worst thing. I am working on an entry way wall area to put it daily then I HAVE to sort it on the weekends. Wish me luck!

I would say I'm getting stuff done!
