This is an ntriguing idea.I have to get around to my wardrobe again soon and might try this.

About your clothes in a basket, I saw a YouTube that showed how to fold Tshirts and STORE THEM VERTICALLY in your drawer, it would work in a basket, too. Because you just see the edge of the T shirt, you can see everything in the drawer and pull an item out without moving the others. Totes awesome, I thought. Who knew? Obviously, not me!

I have no kids, and don't work over 40 hours a week, and my job isn't super stressful or particularly important. And my apartment is tiny... even a small mess is noticeable, and makes my space feel smaller. I also like streamlining things, it makes more room for fun in life.

Cheers!

My clothes are in a basket because our tiny apartment has one closet in the living room which I use for storage. I also haven't bought a dresser because money has been tight! I have an antique trunk that I use to store my extra pillows and blankets in, so I keep my clothes folded and stacked on top of it, multitasking the top of the trunk for an end table. I also use it as an exercise bench for body weight exercises by throwing the basket on the bed- clothes are neat and folded and still out of the way. Anything that needs to be hung up like blazers, etc. are hung up on a multi-hook over the door hanger I bought at a Dollarama.

Cheers!

Thanks for introducing me to Project 333. Sounds interesting. Not sure how having your clothes in a hamper works - sounds like you would have to rummage through tons of stuff . But it sounds like that's not the case as it works for you.

I have plans to have fewer clothes . . . not quite there yet, but getting there. And travelling is definitely capsule - carry on only.

Has anyone else tried a capsule wardrobe? I've been doing Project 333 for about a month and love it so far.

Project 333 is where you wear only 33 items for 3 months. You have to go through your wardrobe and be brutally honest- if it doesn't fit, if it's wrecked, if you haven't worn it in forever, it's donated. Then you pick the 33 items you're going to wear for 3 months- pants, shirts, sweaters, jackets, shoes, purses, scarves- you get the idea. Everything is streamlined, everything is coordinated. I have all of my clothes folded in a large hamper- and it makes getting dressed a snap in the morning. The only things you don't streamline are underwear/socks, pjs, and workout clothing- basically anything you wouldn't wear to work or while shopping. You can make logical personal exceptions as well- I don't include my jewelery and such (but I do include purses, scarves, hats, and shoes), as I don't have much so it's already pretty streamlined. I also don't include my winter outerwear because I'm Canadian and need a variety of toques and scarves and jackets, depending on the weather. I also have a few cocktail dresses set aside just in case, as well as a tacky Christmas sweater, as these things are never in my regular rotation. The idea is quality over quantity, personal style over fast fashion. Then, three months later, you do it again- you get to shop your own wardrobe! If you find your clothing doesn't fit anymore or it needs to be replaced, Project 333 says you should replace them with things that work better for you!

There's also the 10 item wardrobe, and other capsule wardrobe philosophy's out there. They're awesome and totally worth googling!

Cheers!
