Belated entry - on Monday I worked on cleaning out my laundry room, which had become a place to dump anything you wanted out of the way. It's going to take more than just one day, but I did get the shelving unit emptied (as well as the boxes in front of and around it) and put back the things that actually belonged on there. At least that's organized. I still have all the other boxes of papers and just plain stuff to sort through, most of which can probably be pitched, but at least it's a start.

Tomorrow is May 1st a new month.

I am sad to report that I am still working on the bathroom towel racks.
I messed up more dry-wall trying to hang the TP holder and had to do more
spackle, another trip to Home Depot and will need to sand and paint over the
new spackle area.
This is taking forever and it really bums me out.............I just want it DONE !!!

Gosh, here we are at the end of April already !!!!
Today I am determined to hand the new towel and TP racks. It has taken me about
3 days to do the dry wall repair, multiple coats of painting.
I feel like hanging the racks will be the easy part LOL

This month was going to be my big decluttering month but the builder hasn't quite left the house. However I have organized my new bathroom cabinets. Also putting new tenants into th e flat, I have signed off the old tenants and spent six hours yesterday cleaning the flat. Mostly the kitchen and laundry. Don't know how it is that people think they have cleaned when the ceiling, walls and windows are covered with grease and high ledges thick with dust.
However, kitchen now clean, including behind the stove, laundry now clean including behind the washer, bathroom now clean including high vents. Just the windows to clean and it will all be done.
And next month, moving back into our bedroom. Sorting out the wardrobe and saying goodbye to many old clothes that no longer fit. And we have a house guest!

I got the laundry caught up and the dishwasher emptied as well as getting my vehicle in for maintenance. I also completely emptied my food storage container drawer and sorted it out so that everything actually fits and I can find the lids when I need them. Let's see how long that lasts! I still haven't gotten going on my one room per week reorganization plan though.

Well, I am very proud of what I have accomplished today. Just call me Ms. Fixit.
I bought new towel racks for my bathroom - now I have all brushed nickel color fixtures.
(I had a plumber replace the tub faucet, shower head and sink faucets several months ago.)

I removed the old towel racks (have been there for 30 years) and accidentally ripped off part of the dry-wall in 4 spots.
I went and got Spackle, patched the walls - they are drying now.
I got a spray can of "orange peel texture" to spray on the walls where the patches
are, so the texture will all match.... and have the paint ready to finish the wall spots.
Then I'll hang the new towel racks and TP holder.
I also put in a new brushed nickel color door knob !!!
Pretty good for a 65 yr. old gal who feels very independent !!!!! Wahoo

We had our new gas range and microwave delivered today so I got the old stove cleaned out (pots and pans) for them to take with them. As soon as the new cabinets are in, I'll be able to organize as I find homes for all the kitchen stuff. Can't wait for the renovation to be done!

Hi,
I cleaned some old homeschooling material out of a broken cabinet. Threw out the cabinet and organized the material. I also threw out an old babies mattress. Guess I won't be having any more use for it. LOL.

This is my first attempt at doing this stuff. I promised my son I would do it today as my living room is just filled with stuff that needs to be organized. One day I'm going to have a real house I can entertain in!

This was hard to do and more hard to write about. Ugh! But I did it! I'm being accountable!!!

Thanks for reading my post!

Back to live vicariously through your successes as I seek motivation (and TIME) to do more than keep up with the basics. We will be fitting the bathrooms vanities with ShelfGenie pull-out shelves soon (already did the kitchen), so we will at least be forced to clean out under the bathroom sinks.

Mostly errands today: got a car title switched into my name, emissions test done, and car license plates transfered and renewed along with my driver's license. Paid off our van loan and was able to catch up on Bible study and take the dog for a walk. Busy, busy, but glad it's all done.

I have a pile in my dining room for Goodwill, and I need to finish going through a closet upstairs before I load it all into my truck.

I put laundry in and while it was washing I took the wallpaper off of two medicine cabinet doors in our bathroom. Then I emptied the cabinet under one bathroom sink and rearranged the contents. While the laundry was drying I took the truck to the mechanic to have the tires rotated. While I was in town I ran some errands.

Yesterday (Tuesday) I cleaned with the help of a friend of mine who comes to clean every week. I work with her when I can and we moved furniture around from room to room in the family room and living room in particular and also in the upstairs bedroom where I am going to put a new adjustable bed when it is delivered. We took down the toddler bed that was our oldest granddaughter's because our youngest granddaughter, the 4 year-old, wants to sleep with the big girls when they are all here now that she is a preschooler hoping to be a kindergartener in the fall. It was a long work day!

Nothing inspires cleaning like my mother coming for dinner! I got the kids laundry done, the kitchen & dining room swept and mopped, the living room mopped, and a ton of clutter put away. My dad collected all of the small propane cylinders I've had stored for lack of knowing what else to do with them since they can't go in the regular trash. He's going to take them to the local metal recycling plant so they can be disposed of correctly.

This week will start my one-room per week top to bottom clean-out plan. I'm going to clean, organize, and declutter one room per week until the whole place is organized and anything unneeded is gone. This week is the upstairs bathroom. This is a 9-week plan that will take me right through the end of my fiance's deployment.

- Jes

Well, I missed the goal on the 40 bags in 40 days challenge, but I did claim 30 "bags," including some stuff hauled out of the basement to the dump. Gotta figure I'm a lot further ahead of where I would be if I hadn't started. Folks on the 40 bags Facebook page are gearing up for a 45 bags challenge taking us to Memorial Day...starting today.

EDIT: Glad I counted, since 45 days from today goes well past Memorial Day (5/26) and on into June. Still a worthwhile goal.

so I've had three days off after finishing tax season, doing almost nothing (ok, ran errands and started the car shopping process) and now its time to attach the house. have a long list of things I want to get done today, and I'm doing a 24 hour "fast" of the computer starting in about 5 mins. should be interesting. (I'm also doing a 24 hour liquid only fast, so I should be nice and grumpy tomorrow morning)

Today I did about 3 hours of major yard work. Sawed 2 small trees down, emptied 2 large pots of plants that died long ago.
Watered all the yards, even cleared out the stuff outside my back fence - that isn't even my property, but I was sick of looking at the mess.
--------------
Did some small things around the house (kitchen, dining table, papers out)
Now I have a load of laundry running and I'll run the dishwasher later tonight.
I feel like accomplished a lot today - Wahoo!!!

MOONGLOWSNANA, I would also like to do the same thing, Redo, my main bathroom, get new kitchen cupboards, linoleum for my kitchen, carpet for my hallway, and new carpet for my living room, and paint living room and dining room again, and fix all the little stuff that needs to be done in and around my house, the bathroom needs a new floor again,,, DH before he passed in 2008 had that floor done and was new in 2007 and in 2009 when my grandkids and DD came back from Virginia, took showers(the kids did it) and left the shower curtain out of the tub, Thus getting water all over the floor, I went in there many times and cleaned it, now that floor is ruined , I guess by now the floor is dryed out from that emoticon Just talking about this makes me think I could do maybe one thing at a time? I don't know..

Sorted and cleared out the junk mail from the pile that was building up on the table. Cleaned out the fridge. Dragged the old computer tower back upstairs so that I can search it for my fiance's resumes so that I can update them or send them to him to update for his post-deployment job hunt.

I will have 4 bags dropped of at the Salvation Army today. I have made a lot of progress in organizing my card making materials. Alas, I can't seem to toss anything there, but I am making progress in using what I have rather than buying more.

If this was your last day, how would you spend it?

I'm still on jury duty - week #3 and I haven't done much at all - I feel like I only have the weekends.
I take an express bus downtown and leave at 7:30AM and don't get home until
almost 6:00.
On the weekends I've been playing catch-up and losing that battle.
I am hoping my this weekend I will be free and have my life back again.
Thanks for reading my "vent".

Been MIA lately, but I'm still working on my 40 Bags in 40 Days challenge. Though I'm a little behind, I'll get caught up. I boxed up kitchen items for donation after we had our Shelf Genie drawers installed and were forced to clean out the cabinets.

Does finally getting your taxes done count? At least now I can get those papers all put away and move on to other hot spots in my home.

I was barely home at all over the weekend, but I did get my laundry done & finally got rid of that box of clothes I've been meaning to donate. My procrastination ended up being useful though; instead of donating it to goodwill or the salvation army, I was able to directly help a friend's daughter who lost her home and everything she, her husband, and little boy owned in a fire. Anything she can't use will go into a yardsale to earn funds for those items that they haven't been able to replace yet.

After church I started sewing.............big mistake.............now I have a huge mess in the
sewing/computer room.
So, Now I'm going to start to pick it up and put stuff away.
It feels good to have that quilting project done - another charity quilt for Prayers & Squares.

It is a beautiful sunny day here and I need to get moving so that I have time to take a walk.
Chat more later.

I emptied the small woodbox that was full of paper and my husband burned it outside today along with some of the grasses that needed burning.

I cleaned up part of the breezeway that was cluttered with kindling and leaves. It had kind of created a mini compost pile after being buried in snow all winter long. Tomorrow we'll empty those two buckets out where the wildflowers grow. It should make a nice mulch. We need to turn and empty the stuff in the outdoor composting container too. The bottom should have some nice rich soil in it for the garden.

Didn't get much done - because I am still on jury duty all day every day except Fridays.
But I did make my bed, emptied the dishwasher, picked up Rx's at Costco
and did 2 loads of laundry and put everything away.
Now I'm going to take a nice long bath..............I feel stiff after sitting in an uncomfortable chair in the jury box all day long.........

My workout partner cancelled on me tonight, so I devoted my workout time to housework; emptied every trash can in the apartment & carted it all to the other end of the complex where the dumpster is. Folded all 3 over flowing baskets of clean laundry & put it all away, and have 2 more loads of laundry going now, and loaded/ran the dishwasher. It didn't quite make up for my workout for the evening, but at least it was productive! :-)

Builder dusted down the bedroom he has been using as a workroom then I went over it again with microfiber cloths and picked up heaps more dust. Room is much cleaner but still a workroom with dust sheets down.
Those microfibres have a lot of grab in them, they are brilliant for cleaning!

Oh Groan..... I'm still on jury duty and will be until after Easter.

Good news is that the trash pick up today - took all the lumber and plastic pipes that I cut up to fit into the bins. YEAH!!! that stuff had been in my garage rafters for over 20 year
it feels wonderful to have the stuff gone.
WAHoo!!!!!
