In March I set a goal for myself to dejunk my house and then have a garage sale and then donate the remainder.

I accomplished it!!
I began by setting up a list of the rooms or areas that I had to go through. I worked on 2 rooms per day. I required that I spend 15 minutes per day in each of the two rooms. some days that was really hard - especially when it was going through keepsakes and keepsakes of my parents and relatives. I found that 15 minutes was doable. Some days I was able to work much longer. I put everything outside in a shed.
My daughter came home to help and also take what she wanted. we had the sale on June 13the and the remainder went to the church rummage sale.

I feel so much lighter and able to move on.

I have bought concert tickets for Gordon Lightfoot in November. I feel really good about rewarding myself but you know the dejunked house is a reward in itself.

In February I cleaned and organized my night stand and the cubbies in the head board of my bed. I made one run to drop off stuff at the Goodwill. I also made some progress in one of the spare rooms where stuff ends up when it had no home.

I moved all the recycling to the garage today out of the back hall. I swept the breezeway and cleaned up that area prepping for the coming storm. Swept away leaves and carried out ashes from our stove. Put out the heated mats to keep the ice from forming where we walk when the ice or snow comes on Sunday. Tomorrow I'll go to the grocery.

Last day of February. Thinking about goals.

But for now I have three shopping bags full of stuff to take to donation center. I did the laundry and went grocery shopping. Am tackling more office stuff this day, AFTER I take a long walk.

Spark on, everyone. See you in March!

A productive day for a change! Good thing as I will be busy the next few days.
1. Rebooked DD last flight of the day so she could make it home
2. Gas/bank/groceries
3. Changed sheets and washed them
4. Vacuumed
5. Changed light bulb in kitchen: the long fluorescent ones that are a pain to change.
6. Called health insurance about a claim
7. Called health insurance about prescription change
8. Threw out some junk from my closet
9. Later today: a long walk!
10. Maybe a nap (woke up at 3am and only dozed fitfully after that)
11. Pick up DD from airport around 10pm

I got through my Pick 3 yesterday, but finished only one of the Bonus tasks. Better than I've been doing, though. This morning, as I was rushing late out the door, I realized I have someone coming tomorrow to consult on installing pull-out drawers in my cabinets. The place is a MESS! With an open plan, I will be doing crisis cleaning tonight on the kitchen, breakfast nook, and family room, and not just clutter...the kitchen floor is yucky!

Good morning. Celia, I know what you mean about not feeling "worthy" of this team. Been feeling the same. And Travel, you are on a roll getting things done.

My car will go into the shop today so I'll be grounded at home and that will present an opportunity to dig in, especially to my home office which seems to be the "symbol" of my mind when it is disorganized. Can't wait to feel order there. May need to part with some books to really make it right. Always a bit of a challenge, but not impossible.

I know even one little project will up my "worthy" quotient.

OMG my computer is really really slow this evening...... I'll need to type fast.
I took a box of stuff to the Goodwill drop off, cleaned out another cabinet in the kitchen,
swept and watered some in the yard (we are in a real drought).
Now I'm sewing on a Xmas Holiday wall-hanging that I started years ago.
It will feel good to have it finished.
I also took everything off the master bath counters and really scrubbed everything.
It looks so much nicer - I don't know why I put off stuff like that - it only took about 5 minutes !
This evening during the closing Olympics - I'll be doing laundry.
Hope everyone has had a good weekend.

I haven't felt "worthy" of posting here lately, since I am just barely keepimg up with the must do's. Yesterday, though, I did laundry early, so DH would have a good stash of clean clothes to pack for a week of travel (he just drove out). Today, I am determined to choose at least 3 doable items for my Pick 3 list and crank through them.

Not a darned thing cleaned or organized today other than the usual daily chores. I did spend some time organizing the sounds on a sleep sound app that I use for naps or those nights when I have trouble sleeping, so that was time put to good use.

Ah Fififrizzle, love the thought of crisp sheets (-: and a clean house in general. Good for you!

I introduced order to my sock drawer, underwear drawer, yesterday. Tossed out some old socks (thin, thin, way too thin!) and old undies too.

Oprah's magazine has a good set of articles on decluttering this month. Lots of good ideas and a monthly calendar. Oprah's decluttering involves estate sales. I could not relate, but the other advice was fun to read!

Thursday: reorganized my cleaning carrier to make it more useful. Scrubbed a litter box and packed it away. Usual daily chores.

Friday: not much as I'm dragging today from a bad night. Mainly doing a week's worth of DH's laundry and packing it back in his suitcase. Usual daily chores. Took a long walk. Trying to get motivated to work on something else but am just too tired right now.

Did a quick fly-through to get ready for our Girl Scout meeting tomorrow evening. Vacuum, dusted and picked up clutter that had gathered on our main level. Working on finishing laundry so it's all done before the meeting tomorrow night. While I'm doing laundry, I'm TRYING to clean out my work in-box. Must get to 0! Have a great night everyone!

Unexpected addition to my day: dryer stopped putting out heat so I hang up the clothes outside and then this afternoon detached the dryer vent and found a ton of stuff: nails, inside of an ink pen, and a ton of pills (my son would keep his pills in his pocket and I'd always find a few in the dryer so I found enough of them to make a whole month's supply of his prescription except of course they are not in good shape any more!), and also a big ball of lint.

So now my dryer is putting out heat again. So glad and didn't have to wait for DH to get home this weekend to deal with this.

Over Saturday and yesterday I went through all my t-shirts, trying them on and being brutally honest - got rid of a BUNCH! I am going to ask my mom if she wants any and have turned some of the worst into shop rags for the garage. (this on top of the usual cleaning)

Now I have a box of rags and a pile of Ts to get rid of.

I also took down all my Valentine's decor and put it up in the attic -bringing down my St Patty's at the time. I put up my St Patty's thing at work - I like it and want to see it as long as possible.. :-)

I've accomplished a lot this morning. I think finally having a contract on a house has motivated me: I know that an end is coming to me being in one state and DH working in another state. It lifts my spirits!

So I've gotten my morning tasks done and am taking a break before starting my afternoon chores.
Have cleaned master bathroom: toilet and two sinks and whirlpool bath. Kitchen countertops.
Half way through laundry.
Swept carport.
Made a phone call

I started the method of clearing out one small area at a time......
It's working !!!
I have a small built-in desk in my kitchen area and it had loads of stuff on it that I didn't ever use or need.
So I went thru piece by piece and now have a large box of post-it pads, at least 3 dozen ink pens and a bunch of other stuff. I have it all packed to take to the Sr. Center where I exercise....they have had a lot of budget cuts and lost all paid employees.... so I know they need office supplies.
Wahoo!!
--------
It worked so well that I then moved into the hallway and cleared out the 2 shelves in a cabinet that had become a drop spot for "hiding" things. It is pretty empty now and I have a box packed to take to the Goodwill drop off.

So, I guess this small step at a time method is working for me. I hope to keep it up.
Next is the bookcase in my sewing/computer room that needs to be "attacked" and cleared.

Just had the kitchen remodeled a few months ago. We used to have 3 junk drawers - now we have zero. Every single thing has a place. I learned I can't organize chaos. It's been a couple of months now and all that 'stuff' that I couldn't possibly get rid of has never even been missed ... Even once.

With DH only home on Saturdays now, I don't get much done except laundry on Saturdays as I can put other things off for when he's not here.

I did look around on Pinterest and found some good cleaning tips and organizational tips that I pinned for later use. Some I clipped and saved to Evernote as a backup and so I don't have to click on the pin to go to the webpage in Pinterest. So I guess you can say I organized my house cleaning tips today. I did get some good ideas that I plan on using.

There is a great article on de-cluttering in my local newspaper this AM.
Interviews will several professional organizers and it was motivating to read it.
The biggest "take away" for me was
Don't plan to clean the whole garage - just do one small section at a time.
I have been overwhelmed by my garage for years , so now I feel better and think I can plan
some small sections.

We have a new tenant moving into the flat at the bottom of our house today. So yesterday I farewlled the previous tenant who has bought a house, and spring cleaned the flat. I'm sorry to say it was clean on the surface but there were 9 hours of cleaning t be done. While DH did some minor repairs I washed the walls, cleaned out the washing machine, which was filthy, cleaned four sets of Venetian blinds and all the windows in the flat, washed all the high surfaces including cleaning out the cupboards, and cleaned the floors. We set off bug bombs in the flat and all I have to do now is clear up after that, open the windows to air the place and put a bunch of flowers in the kitchen.
Then we have a few outdoor things to take care of but they are not urgent.
Flat looks lovely and it is so easy to clean an empty space!

If hunger isn't the problem, food won't fix it.

Sorry you are coming back to cold, wet weather, Toni. Hope you don't have to do too much digging to get your car out of the parking lot.

Today is game day for me. It was sleeting this morning, so I opted to stay home from yoga, and I just don't want to face the treadmill or elliptical today with my hip hurting. Still, I don't want to sit on my rear all day, so I am setting the timer for 30 minutes and letting myself do things on the computer (like post here). When the timer goes off, I wrap up what I'm doing and then get off my butt to do some chores and walk through the house for 10 or so minutes. My goal is to get my 10,000 steps this way today.

Got all my wrapping paper organized finally. Daughter gave me some large under bed boxes that the longer rolls fit in. Put all the Xmas wrap in one, the rest in another, and gift boxes in the 3rd one. Then used my old ones for separating Xmas gift bags, other gift bags, tissue paper, and bows. Actually have more boxes now, but they are lighter and easier to manage, and as I use up what I have, I will be consolidating into fewer boxes. But I can easily find what I need now and it is all put away instead of sitting in the middle of the guest room!

Yeah... I looked up some suggestions online but in the end they were still a pain in the butt for what seemed like very little reward. If my hubby will take them down for me I will try again.

Today I cleaned the windows and washed the walls in our bedroom - which means I've now washed all the walls in the condo (though I didn't move furniture around to do it so a few spots didn't get washed).

I've been away for over a week, so now I'm trying to get caught up. DH had to leave on a trip today, so I spent our one whole day together between the conference and his trip doing laundry. With his crazy schedule, he missed the last big laundry day, and I swear I washed every piece of underwear he owns.

I ran errands then home and feeling motivated, so I picked up all the junk in my sewing room and even made a quilt block for a sampler quilt and friend and I are making - now all the blocks are done - wahoo !!!
I going to start the laundry and watch the Olympics while the laundry is going.

I went into the clinic today and cleaned the bathrooms, and swept and mopped the floors. Vacuumed lobby and front office, dusted. Then reviewed charts for awhile. Went grocery shopping. Now will put the groceries away, start cooking for next week and then start the laundry. emoticon

This morning I scrubbed the floors in the kitchen and entryway. So happy to have that done!

Still dealing with a cold, but have to pack today to get ready to fly for vacation tomorrow. Nothing like a deadline...

Love this thread and the buzz of projects started and done every day. Thank you!

Still cleaning my bedroom, and can see carpet!!!! Huzzah!

Friday found an overdue library book (under my bed - they seem to hibernate there for some reason). I've had to write down some guidelines for myself so that once I've eliminated the clutter/junk from my bedroom, it doesn't depressingly reappear again. One guideline: "All library books STAY in the computer room bookshelves (an entertainment center). At least then I'll know where they are. I'm lucky in the my county library system does not charge library fines (thank heavens!), but the neighboring county (where I also have a library card) does. Got to be careful. That money can go towards better things, such as roses for myself, or the DVD 4th season of "The Middle" (one of my favorite tv shows).

Friday I also finished cleaning the bathtubs in two bathrooms. Swept the back patio AGAIN (have to do that every day, because we put birdseed on a container on the patio, and the birds have at it and can be quite messy - leaving sunflower hulls all over the place).

And kept cleaning my bedroom. One of the great things about eventually getting the room cleaned is I won't have to write about it. That should be incentive enough.

And it's so much easier to find things once I've put them in an accessible place. Lots of time saved. Don't have to worry about hurting myself by tripping over things on the floor, etc.

Well, it's now Saturday, so aside from cleaning THAT ROOM, first I've got to go to work. I'm hoping the snow will have melted by then, or at least they're been out with the snowplows.

Have a safe, dry & WARM Saturday, everyone!

Annie T.

Woo! I feel so light! I worked extra hours (unpaid) every day this week and finally got caught up to date! I've been behind for a long while and more keeps coming in.....but as of tonight, I'm caught up! After that I tidied my desk and I feel so energized! I'm going to relax tonight and tomorrow is a day off, I'll tackle home chores.

Light! Energized! These are good feelings!

If you don't like the road you're walking, start paving another one!
