The other night, I was so far behind and in a serious time crunch. I looked at the porch where the litter box is and where I've been vacuuming every night for quite some time. I thought, oh, one night won't make any difference, then I thought of you all here at this team. It's such a small task, it literally takes less than 10 minutes. I did it. I kept the streak going, and most of all, even though you wouldn't have known. I didn't let you down. Thanks for being there as the little nudge to keep the streak going.

Getting little things done is so motivating. I swear cleaning one drawer, just, one relaxes me.

I totally despise doing the dishes! We even use paper plates sometimes and I can't figure out how we still have tons of dishes to wash! I love your baby steps idea....keeps me from getting overwhelmed (where I am right now!) and feeling I accomplished something...even if its little.

FOCUS- one day at a time..... Progress NOT perfection

I like the idea and will start tomorrow. I will decide tonight what I want to start with so I actually do it. Thank you.

When Sparkpeople set up the #backontrack challenge on social media, I saw that many people did not want to do it through social media, So I asked if SP minded if I set up a team. I did. I used the idea of getting back on track in my house. Since I came home from my trip to visit family during the summer, I set up a system where I start a pan of dish water before I even start supper. I wash dishes once a day and it's then and immediately after supper. By doing this, I don't have a mess that defeats me. (I don't think I mentioned how much I totally despise washing dishes. I would rather do almost anything than that.) But by doing it like this, I know I'm done with it for the day. So that has the dishes taken care of.

As for making the bed, it was already a habit. Out of bed, pull the sheet up and now that it is finally getting a bit cooler, there's a light blanket as well. It takes less than a minute to do this.

But other parts needed attention: So I started small. I finally got into the habit (just in the month of August and September) of cleaning out the litter box every night. And I added vacuuming the front porch walkway. When I get to where these are automatic, I will add something else (like cleaning off 1 counter).

It is amazing how making these small steps so that the actions become automatic helps, and none of them are time consuming.

What small steps have you made toward a cleaner, more organized home?
