It is almost the end of another month. Looking back, I have made some pretty good progress in getting things done that I had let drag on and on and on for just too long.
---------
I'm still prepping my house for termite fumigation and that is forcing me to really purge some stuff out - especially in the kitchen.
They will finish on next Thurs. AM - but I found out that the utility company will not be able to come and turn my gas line back on until Friday afternoon. So I'll be a couple of days with
no hot water - or stove LOL
Another positive is that they will check all my gas appliances and make sure everything
is OK and inspect my heater (never had that done in the 20 years I've lived here.)
I rarely ever turn the heat on here in Southern CA.
---------------
So there are some more positive things to come out of this.

Well, I added one thing - but it organized 8 other things. What I added - a small dumbbell rack. It now holds 4 sets of small dumbbells, which are no longer on the floor lines up along the wall in the family room! No more stubbed toes, or moving around 8 items to vacuum. I had been looking at the racks off an on for a while, but the prices were high. Then I signed on to receive emails from Wayfair, which offers limited-time sales on all kinds of things for the house. I got it for 70% off!

One day at a time; slow and steady. I just wish I were more steady and that the weight did not come off so slowly!!

which reminds me. I need to get over to my storage unit today and pick up the fake pumpkins for tomorrow night.

and Thank God, I don't have a ceiling leak. what I thought was a leak is where the kiddo accidentally stepped while doing some stuff in the attic last week.

OH NO Knuckles - do you have a tile roof? I had a leak or leaks every year that we had
significant rain and finally got a new roof (Cha - Ching) after fussing with leaks for about 8yrs..

Hope it is a small leak that that it can be fixed easily.

Glad to learn I'm not the only one who accumulates magazines! I've got a couple years worth of Coastal Living and Real Simple magazines. I keep thinking I'm going to "get to" reading them, but I think they are from 2005! That's the only problem with being a reader....I always think there is something interesting in magazines that I haven't read yet. My goal this week is to get rid of them by tomorrow night when I put the recycling out.

I cleaned organized and cleaned out my linen closet. What a relief. Years and years of accumulated towels, sheets, etc. I also went through one stack of magazines and weeded out some to give to others. Still have one more stack to go through, hopefully, by the end of the week.

Travel, I keep magazines too, but for cooking. Sure feels good to let some go from time to time.

Packed up and ready to fly across country today. Laundry ahead. Pleased with my packing this time. Had what I needed.

I went thru 6+ years of quilting magazines that I was saving for some unknown reason.
I have them all packed and ready to donate to my quilt guild...... the library will sell them and earn a little money.
It is nice to see a couple of empty shelves in my sewing room and the rest of the stuff is put into binders and organizational boxes.

Off day today, except for the basics of laundry and tidying up the kitchen. DH's daughter and her boyfriend left this morning after breakfast, then we ran errands and spent the afternoon at our neighborhood block party.

managed to weigh in, get in 45 mins walk, stopped by bank, and now am at a friends house dogsitting for the night. nice to get away from all the craziness of the young adults at my house on saturday nights. (plus the 9 month old baby)

tomorrow looking to taking dogs to the local renisause fair. Has to see how the sewing project turned out lol

I spent 3 hours cleaning the playroom for my daughter's sweet 16 party last night so the 9 teenagee girls would have somewhere to lay out their sleeping bags. It was SUCH A MESS! Most of the stuff got thrown in my son's old room (he doesn't live here anymore), but at least I can close the door instead of being overwhelmed by it all every time I walk downstairs. My children's dad is a hoarder, and unfortunately my kids sometimes have a hard time letting things go as well, even though these are toys that haven't been played with for 10 or 15 years. My goal is to take 1/2 hour a day to organize and get rid of the things that were put in my son's room. My DD actually helped me yesterday, and I think it was helpful to her to realize how much better the room looked and how much more functional it was when all the STUFF was out of it.

Making some organizing progress. I think I mentioned that I bought a voucher to have 400 photos scanned to disk. So, yesterday I started and 1/4 of them ready to go.
I realized that I have more than 400 photos......so I'll have to keep my eyes open for another Groupon voucher.

I scheduled my house fumigation for 11/5 and need to do all the prep work for that - but I think I have that under control...........the company provides a checklist that will help.

Happy Saturday !!!

I do understand that half organizing thing. I had a simple project to set up a filing system and sort the jumble of papers for one of our walking clubs. The project sat in various stages of completion on the breakfast table all week. Finally finished it today under the pressure of having weekend guests. Now to work on the jumble of papers on my desk. At least the rest of the house looks good (for now).

Jogged/walked 5 miles this morning, then teleworked (*really* busy). In my spare moments, I have been tidying up for the guests coming this weekend. Because my computer at work will likely not be fixed by tomorrow, I plan to telework again, which will be nice, since the company will probably arrive late at night.

sewing project is done. now to clean up dining room table of all the sewing crap.

Today I need to really focus on some work projects. plus a major paperwork project from my son's wheelchair. (he needs a special cushion for it that insurance probable will deny, but we have to submit it anyway, because you never know, I need to measure it and him and where he sits in the chair etc. and I just keep putting it off)

Welcome, Simonscorner! Glad you are here. Someone is always organizing something on this team and it's hard NOT to get inspired.

emoticon

Celia that walk must really take a lot of coordination, and how terrific for those who participate. Kudos to you! And company always inspires organization in me too. I consider it one of the many benefits of extending an invitation (gets me off my bum...)

Travel - yay, you have water to your garden again. Glad it worked.

It's a writing/paper organizing day today. Work to do reading other people's work (helps me with my craft too) and putting my writing files into some kind of shape. On going....what can I say.

Have a great day, team mates! Let's make it productive.

I've been away too long, but we hosted the U.S. FreedomWalk Festival over the weekend with walkers from all over the world, including a spirited group from Israeli Airlines. What a fun (and exhausting) time, but we're done for the year. In the meantime, I have kept up with recycling and weeding out junk in the living area, since we are expecting guests this weekend.

Hi Gang,
Today is a bit better for me.
The Sprinklers are done (not what I had expected), but they all work - I just tested them.
They need some adjustments for full coverage and less watering of the sidewalk - but I'll ask my brother to help me.
My cleaning lady came today - so the house sparkles.
I had a great lunch with my Lunch Bunch friends.

Now I am going to sit down with a good book - and try to de-stress for a bit. LOL

about a month ago.....told me he had all stuff in his truck.....
worked about 15 minutes and then knocked on the door and told me he didn't have about 1/2 the stuff he needed. Would have to come back tomorrow !!!!

Trying to find my stride on a writing project and am distracted from organization. I did cook a great meal last night. Roasted broccoli, red onion and red bell peppers in olive oil and italian spices. A nice addition to salmon on the grill.

I feel like I'm back to my old self today. My arm is still sore - feels bruised, but otherwise
I feel fine.
I did a bit of clean-up of papers around the house and then did major yard-work getting things ready for my sprinkler repair guy on Tuesday. I hope he gets everything fixed and working so that I can re-seed the bald spots and try for a nice lawn.
So the lawns are mowed and edged so the guy can get to all the sprinkler heads and fix stuff.

Took two bags of clothes and books to the Goodwill this a.m. Actually looked at my desktop instead of ignoring it like I usually do. I plan to organize it by Sunday. Also, to wash a batch of clothes by the end of the week. I have it in the back of my mind the weed out some magazines, but that might have to wait until next week.

I haven't done anything in 2 days. I had a flu and a pneumonia shot and had a bad reaction. It has totally knocked me on my keester with a very very sore swollen, red arm and a fever.
I talked to the nurses' hotline at my clinic and she said if I still have the fever 48 hours after to call the Dr.
So I have been in bed thinking about all the things I need to do. I can't raise my left arm, so I can't do much anyway.

Today I wipe large amounts of dust off some very high ledges in my living room and bedroom.
I have tall ceilings and noticed a spider web up at the very top in the corner.
After I got the tall ladder and the extendable duster - I went to town and clean a whole bunch of areas up high......it looked like several years of dust.
Then vacuumed up all the dust that I "swept" down - I never thought of looking up there.....also discovered what a horrible job my house painters did several years ago in painting my interior.........paint doesn't even match !!!!
Too late now to do anything about it.
---------------
anyway I made progress and the laundry is done and put away, dishwasher run and dishes put away.
I also went and got my flu shot today.....

Travel, great way to use "company" to get organized! And I am always surprised how much out of date stuff accumulates.

I worked on a family photo collage yesterday. Part of photo organization-- the fun part!

Laundry is done and put away. That was a big chore - I had let it go for too long and had
lots of bed linens too.
----
I'm having my house tented for termites and I was reading about all I have to do to prep.
This is going to help me get a lot of stuff out of my house.
Especially kitchen items. I have to leave all my cupboards open for the fumigators and I can't let them see my pantry in the condition it is in.
I'm going to use this as a step to getting rid of all the open food items in the pantry and the fridge that I don't use very much.......I'm sure some of it has passed the "sell by" date.
I'm glad to have a motivator....

Going room to room and simplifying. Pantry clean yesterday. Finding a lot of satisfaction in routine these days.
