it isn't perfect, but it is made...I always do this, even if it just entails starightening pillows and throwing a comforter on, not perfectly but up and flat :) it really makes everything look better even if it is all a flat out mess!

sometimes yes. always when expecting visitors or if I'm trying to make sure I don't go back to bed. never when i'm feeling sick or like i'm going to go back for nap after getting up real early. Always if I'm going to leave the dogs closed in our bedroom when i'm going out, as they are less likely to bother the bed if it is smooth. otherwise they rearrange blankets and pillows.
I agree; it does look much better when it is made.

I'm hit or miss. I know I love climbing into a made bed, so I try to get it looking better than when i first climbed out, but I don't beat myself up if its not done since there are so many worse spots in my house!

Yes I do - I have two little dogs that like to lay on the bed during the day, so I don't want them on my sheets. I keep a throw over the bed for them.

No, I read somewhere recently (I can't recall where) that making the bed every day can create a more encouraging environment for dust mites to breed.

Not as a part of my daily routine. I make it when someone is coming over or if I'm cleaning the whole room. I totally agree that it makes or breaks a bedroom, but I'm a messy enough person most days that the bed isn't the only thing ruining the feng shui emoticon

Yes, and it has become a habit after reading this thread. I've been doing it for over a month and it sure makes the bedroom look neater with a bed that is made.

Nope.

Sometimes I need to wash the sheets in the morning. Hate to admit I'm at a time a life where I'm a bad night sweater, but there it is. Making a bed with yucky sheets is yucky.

I don't beat myself up over it, though.
Yes, it makes for a more neat look. I love a nice neat bed; looks far more inviting, to me, than a rumpled bed. When I do make the bed though, it gets straightened and smoothed from the fitted sheet to the meticulous arrangement of the pillows and stuffed dragons.

Yes everyday. And the kids make their bed also. I believe it makes all the difference in the look of the room. Clean and tidy. If its not made it looks messy, unkept and unappreciated.

No, I don't, and it doesn't bother me that I don't. My philosophy is that it needs to stay open to air out, so it's fresh and nice at night.

I do pull up and straighten the covers right before we get in bed in the evening, we sleep better that way. But I do it in the evening, not the morning.

We make our bed every day, generally by the last person who exits it. Sometimes, we'll try to make it, even though the other person is still in it! (That's when it can get fun!) It's a team project, like everything else in our lives, but something that makes both hubby and I feel like we have already accomplished something productive first thing in the morning....which starts the day off right!

PS You may be obsessive if you make your bed when you stay at a hotel.

It's one of the first things I do in the morning! Even if my house/life feels totally uncontrollable, I can control that. I feel so much better when it's made. I also love to get into a made bed at night.

Yes, I made my bed. My husband even helped. We have the same issue about one of our dogs sleeping in late!!! She's pretty old so I'll often wait until she gets up. How spoiled is that?

I do NOT make my bed. I like the scrumpled, comfy feeling of just climbing without the corners pulled tight. I would have to pull them out anyway, I hate feeling like my feet are tied in! Besides, when I think of energy expenditure, it seems silly to make a bed that will be slept in again that night. If we are going away, I make it for sure. How weird is that?
I respect all you bed makers, though! I really am an organized person that likes things a certain way but that doesn't seem to apply to my bedroom. Again, so weird! lol

I use to always make the bed right before going to bed.Haha.Sounds crazy, but I feel a lot better climbing into a made bed.I'm making it a goal though to make it each morning instead of right before bed time. Two mornings in a row so far.Feels nice, I'm hoping to keep it up. :)

I make the bed most every day but it is not the neat nick precise way that some do. That being said, shortly after I leave for work, my DH comes home and goes to bed so I don't get to see it made. He rarely makes it but it sure looks nice when he does.

Funny, I was just thinking how I cannot face the day until that bed is made! Things just don't feel right until that bed is made. When I feel scattered, or down, at the start of my day...I go make the bed, it seems things are immediately better. emoticon

I have been doing it for more than a year, but for the last months I have not been consistant... the reason is that I am moving to my own house this week and when I started packing my bedroom became chaos and I did not make my bed anymore. I have been living with too many things on a small space since I moved in her june 2009 and its a wonder that I managed to make the bed as long as I did.

I am SO looking forward to get enough space for my things, And start making my bed every day again...

For the most part, I make the bed as soon as I get out of it. It feels so delicious to walk into our neatened room at night with its made bed. I love getting into the bed with its smoothed-down sheets, plumped-up pillows, and straightend-out comforter. Ahh, heavenly...

Most of the time, not always.

Fear holds us and binds us and keep us from growing. It kills a small piece of us each day. It holds us to what we know and keeps us from what's possible, and it is our worst enemy. Fear doesn't announce itself; it's disguised, and it's subtle. It's choosing the safe course; most of us feel we have 'rational' reasons to avoid taking risks. The brave man is not the one without fear but the one who does what he must despite being afraid. To succeed, you must be willing to risk total failure; you

Yes I do make the bed, but only right before I turn in for the night so the sheets are nice and smooth!

Always!!! I'm obsessive about it. Can't leave the house without the bed made unless I take off the sheets and wash them, leaving the bed to "air out" intentionally.

I make my bed when expecting company or when I change my sheets.

I know what you mean AIRIADAR, I have two cats also. I sometimes have to lock them out of the bedroom just to get my bed made. They love to jump in between the sheets. Last time I changed them, the smallest cat had worked her way under the fitted sheet after the bed was completely made. LOL.

By request of hubby, I make it every day, at least when he's home! I'll admit, though: the room really does look that much better when the bed is made.

Yes! It takes less than 2 minutes and I enjoy it all the time I'm in my home. It greets me when I come home. It inspires me to spend a couple minutes doing some other little task that will make my home a more pleasant place to live. I love it!

Absolutely. Even if I've been out of town and come home in the evening to a bed my spouse hadn't made up that morning, I do it. Its a compulsion.

Yes. I remember watching a tv program with an organizational expert who said that the fastest way to make your bedroom look more organized and clean was to make the bed. Her reasoning was that the bed has the largest surface in the room, and keeping it clear makes the entire room look clean.

I do not make my bed every day... but I do shine my sink at least twice a day... and it's the CLEAN TOILET BOWL that makes me smile all the way to my toes each time I see it... there was a time, when things were really bad, that I went a few weeks without really cleaning the bathrooms (toilet bowl, floors, baseboards, etc) and then one of my kids got sick and my heart ACHED when I saw her getting sick at the toilet bowl, when I knew it hadn't been properly cleaned in awhile... now, I'm back to 'Swish-N-Swipe' every day in every bathroom, and detail clean the rest of each bathroom once a week... that's a tough lesson to go through, and a tough one to admit to, but I'm glad to have learned it!

I know this is a bit weird, but I partially make my bed each evening before I go to sleep. No throw pillows or anything, but straighten up the sheets, pillows and comforter. There is just something about going to bed in a messy bed that drives me crazy

I gotta make the beds or I feel like the house is a mess when I get home. It helps me feel like I have some control over my sometimes out-of-control life. A small illusion it takes about 2 minutes to create.
And it's nice to get into a neat bed a night. emoticon

I make my bed every day unless I leave before my husband gets up, and he does not make the bed. I have two small children who are at home every day, so there are toys all over the house for a majority
of the time. I don't mind the toys being in the family room, game room, or the kids' rooms, but I want our bedroom, the dining room, the office, and the kitchen free of toys. In order to encourage neatness and order in those rooms, I feel it necessary to keep the bed made and everything else in order.

About making the bed and putting things away.
It is nice when the bed is made, but I heard on the show "The DRS" that when the bed is not made it airs it out and the bed bugs don't stay in much. I think it is good to let the bed and sheets air out once in a while. I don't change the sheets every day. That to me is not necessary.
It does make a nice difference when the bed is made up and the feeling makes me feel better. I also have to put things away that are hanging out in the bedroom. That is another thing I have trouble with, but today I put things away and hope to do more. I have so many clothing that does not fit in my drawers. I have to put them in bags. Maybe I need to go over my drawers again.

How funny, I just started making it in the morning about a week ago. It is such an easy thing to do, I wonder why it's taken me so long to get into the habit.
