Is that an A1C? I'm pre-pre-diabetic and insulin resistant, and I'm sure if they checked me as a teen I would have been as well. There's a lot you can do with diet and just basic movement. Get out, walk, run, 30 min lowers blood sugar. Get away from carbs, and focus on veggies and protein. Eventually, you don't even miss the carbs most of the time!

Hello all I've had a busy day today....Doctor appt. with the kids all day long...finally our last appt. was with the pediatrician and I found out not one but both boys ages 13 & 15 are right at the threshold for diabetes the range is 4.5 I think to 6.0 and they are at 5.8 & 5.9 they will test again in three months if they 6.0 they will be given some other test to see where they are at and may have to get on I'm going to go and google diabetes to see how we can get this under control with eating right...I'm also scheduled to go to the doctor myself on Tuesday to see where I'm at with it....I'm a little nervous about that because we all basically eat the same things...I'm also going to start back at the gym with my 15 yr old my 13 yr old is to young to join....which I think is sad because I believe with the right foods and exercise we can get this all under control....I kinda feel bad because I'm the one who shops for the food...they wouldn't eat what I don't buy...So this has really motivated me to get it together if not for my sake definitely for their sake...I've seen people with out of control diabetes and it not a pretty site...I've even had one friend die from it...So this is my wake up call...I only hope I can get my kids to see how important it is now to take care of their bodies

Do any of you have children with diabetes
