Thanks, I will definitely use this to help explain things. For my daughter the "spoons" represent time more than energy, because everything takes a lot longer for her. This works for the whole family of someone who needs care as well, in the sense that we can't just take things for granted and our choices are limited. If we want to go out for dinner, we have to figure out which places are accessible, will there be parking close by, etc. People always want me to serve on boards and be in organizations, but there is only so much time and energy to go around.
