Indeed! I remember when my son was young--I made it for him as well--telling him of times when I was young and things Grandma did. Memories for him as well!

They are delicious!! Hubby will have to wait another week+ until the fair comes to town to get his. Thinking of fried bread-I remember as a kid my Mom would always make homemade bread. When the dough raised-and before she punched it down again-she'd pull up on the dough on top and cut off small sections, which she then fried in the frying pan, with just a bit of oil, sprinkling the fried bread with sugar/cinnamon or maple syrup. Love it!!!

Sounds super fun!! Love outdoor events such as this! Makes me think--when the fair is coming to town! I'll actually have to check--as we haven't gone in a few years due to work schedules, extreme heat one year, etc. But it's always nice to just leisurely walk around, meet friends we haven't seen in awhile and just enjoy our time there. And, of course, my hubby has to have his Elephant Ear (deep-fried dough sprinkled with sugar)!! Love them--but I'm trying to stay clear of deep-fried foods and especially sugar (that really affects my dry eyes)--but it's all part of the fun and always happy to see him enjoy it!

We have company for coffee and blueberry goodies. This weekend is our annual Blueberry Festival. I will be doing lots of exercise to wear off muffins, frosted blueberry donut and potica with butter. Once a year plus fried bread at the park with melted butter and cinnamon. Course, a walk thru the park in hot sun used up a lot of calories!! 40000 people come to this little Northern MN. town for the weekend. No left turns, easier to just walk. I weigh every Monday so may not be happy but back to Sparking! emoticon

Wow! Just read my post from August about heat and humidity. Now we have below zero every nite and have had terrible winds with warnings to be aware of the wind chill temp. being a northerner i don't tolerate either extreme very well. I am shoveling snow and/or walking when I take Brandy out. I saved several spark videos to use inside/ No walking the dog in this weather so we try and play in the house. Is it spring yet? My next right thing is having a workout, after I feed the kitty lunch. I'm going to try a dance video that I forgot that I had. It's in VHS, and I need to see if I want it to become a DVD, or just want to sell it at a yard sale. I could even just keep it in the VHS format if I like it.

Good morning! supposed to be hot here today and tomorrow. i had hoped we were done with heat and humidity. Radio said 90 today and 93 tomorrow, web site said 85 for today and they have been right so far. 85 is too much! Ugh!
Sheri, I know it is hard to let things go while you heal but sometimes it can take longer to heal if it isn't rested. They think my not slowing down and using a walker or cane may have aggravated that nerve in the ham string muscle so it is not worth it to push too much. I had felt so good walking right away i would forget where i left the walker all the time. The kids said i needed to hookup a beeper to find it. Seriously, don't push too hard.
My pain is getting better, still bothers if Brandy pulls too hard but it goes away when i get home and it still hurts if i try to turn to the right in bed but that is nothing compared to the pain i had all the time, over a month. Ugh! Miserable.
Now need to get organized somehow, still haven't taken my exercise bands out and need to plan for exercise. Yesterday had breakfast at the lake-french toast etc. and Sat. morning breakfast with my cousin--pancakes etc. so really need to keep moving. I did pull weeds in segments yesterday for over an hour and picked all the onions so that helped.
Brandy finally went in the lake with Alex, i had hoped she would follow him but she stopped at the end of the dog when Alex jumped after the stick. They played in the lake in and out, had a good time. Best I finish up here, i wanted to walk Brandy but if it gets too hot we will wait til evening or take a short one on the shady side. have a great day. and take it easy on that arm/hand?, Georgine emoticon

I'm struggling with not overdoing while I recover from surgery. I know I should let chores go, but push anyway. I'll use my left hand only while sparking today, give the right healing arm a rest

I'm struggling to use my time wisely and to be honest with myself about it.

I keep telling myself, "Ohhhh, it's okay to _____ for a little while" even though it turns out to be what I'm doing for the next two hours.

I can ask myself, "what would the next right thing to do be?"

If I'm honest with myself--right now for me it's

WASHING UP & GOING TO BED.

What's your "next right thing"?
