I have several small goals that can be met weekly/bi-weekly. But my ultimate goal weight I plan to meet by June 1.

Which one best describes me right now----
Even though it takes a little more time and effort, Iíve been buying and preparing healthy foods on a regular basis.

I've really been focused on putting the time and effort into being prepared to eat healthy all week and planning is so important to that. I give up my Sundays to rest and planning the next week. Winter can really get me down---being indoors so much, kids at school all spreading around colds and such....eating healthy is a priority for me right now. emoticon

Taking it all---one day at a time....

Before-often
When Tracking-nearly never-I eat to meet my goals then stop.

Suggestions for busy teachers---I make my breakfast and lunch the night before. On the weekends, I make large recipes or double batches I can freeze and heat in the microwave during the week. I also get pre-cooked chicken (watch the sodium here). When I am in a hurry, I whip up a quick fajita (meat, veggies, and salsa in a low carb whole wheat tortilla) and I am off to lunch or dinner.

I also plan my meals around one trip to the store and prep as much as I can on Sundays. Cut veggies, meat, etc. so that I can whip up a meal quickly.

Be the change you want to see in the world!

Iíve tried to eat healthy in the past, but I'd give up after a while. This time I've got a plan though.

I could use a few suggestions of how to prevent slacking when work/life gets really busy. Thats when I tend to fall of the wagon and make unhealthy meal choices (when I just don't have time/energy left to cook healthy meal) and then I get in a rut until I "Start over."

New Question:

How often do you eat mindlessly?

*Very often. I usually "come to" when the whole bag or container is gone.

**Almost never. I pre-portion my servings and eat without distraction.

***Occasionally, like if I snack while watching TV or using the computer.

Answer from last week's question: Fact

Explanation:
If you work out the smaller muscles first, they'll be too tired to help out when you're lifting heavier weights to train your larger muscles. So do the "heavy lifting" first, and finish off with the smaller muscles.

Do you exercise more consistently on weekdays or weekends?

If I am recalling correctly that is fact. If you work the smaller muscles first, they will be too tired to work together to work the larger muscles.

I know that eating a more balanced and nutritious diet would benefit my health.

Iíve tried to eat healthy in the past, but I'd give up after a while. This time I've got a plan though.

I tend to start off strong and then I get busy and stop tracking my food and exercise on sparkpeople and then my healthy choices slip...So this year I am sticking with it!

I love eating healthy, however I also love sweets. With 4 children in the house (one drives), a daughter who bakes, and a hubby with a different concept of healthy snacks, it's hard to avoid junk when it surrounds you. Therefore I'm playing the Little Engine that Could Repeatedly in my head. On the plus side, I've reached a new stage in my life where I'm ready to focus on me a little more. 2012 or bust :).

Wishing won't get you there; work for it!

I know that eating a more balanced and nutritious diet would benefit my health! But knowing this and doing it are two very different things!

I did do some preparation this last weekend before i go back to school tomorrow. I've got some meal plans for a few days, bought healthy foods (much to my grandmother's dismay - she's 95, lives with me and loves her sweets!), and made some food to freeze for later in the week. I've also got my exercise planned for the week, so we'll see how things go!

Happy New Year All!

I believe in taking a positive attitude toward the world. My hope still is to leave the world a little bit better than when I got here.

I'm on track with Kim and the others. I know that eating a more balanced and nutritious diet would benefit my health, but taking the time to do it, is a challenge. During the winter break, I've been considerably more diligent with my diet, but when we head back to work in a week or so, I'm going to have to get creative and really plan in advance. Thanks for posting this question, Krys!

Which statement best describes your current thoughts about eating healthy?

The flavor of my food is more important than its nutritional value.

I know that eating a more balanced and nutritious diet would benefit my health.

Iíve tried to eat healthy in the past, but I'd give up after a while. This time I've got a plan though.

Even though it takes a little more time and effort, Iíve been buying and preparing healthy foods on a regular basis.
