Didja miss me??

No? Oh shucks.

Had a great camping weekend, the weather was perfect. Got back today and it sure warmed up. Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow.

There was quite a storm, the lightning was very close judging by the flash and immediate reverberation. And during the worst of it, I hear large power boats on the river. Idiots.

*Yawn* It's such a pleasant day. Quiet and rainy. I think most of the weekend warriors have gone home and those still left are either packing up or the rain has dampened their activities. Living next door to a campground and a marina -- you never know what you're going to get, especially on weekends and holiday weekends. But that's okay with us, we like it here. Just one more example of what demented looks like.

Snoopy Happy Dance today! My motorcycle is getting a little better each time I work on it. I finally fixed the gauges and the fuel gauge read about empty. Nah - that can't be right. So I lit my lighter and peered into the tank and sure enough I was about empty! Not any more though.

It sounds like a nice day on tap for tomorrow Pam. I can understand your sentiment on not being able to get rid of any cookbooks. I'm just not in that place. For a good 6-1/2 years I've been more interested in paring down.

It has finally cooled off out here...not that I want winter, you understand, but not working up a sweat by just breathing...how wonderful!

Truffles has been having a lovely time...outside, chasing the squirrels & the one rabbit that sits by the truck, waiting for her...they have a wonderful game going!

Went for dinner with friends...

Cheri - I don't have 5000 books, but well into the 100s...& I have 'dibs' on all my mother's...one of which is probably over 100 years old...it was my great grandmother's & has lots of great recipes! I also have a copy of Canada's first recipe book...really funny as some of the 'measurements' are in 'sacks' & pounds...as in sack of flour, pound of butter...& Sally...I could never give away any of my cook books...even the ones I never use!

Going to the farm tomorrow...visit with my gf - her birthday. And as it is cool, may even ride my horse...who knows. Just a nice, laid back day!

I have been fighting the desire to make smart ass remarks or yell at people all week.

1 thing was when someone told me "i've been doing this for 15 years", i wanted to say "I'm impressed considering you are obvious illiterate othersise you would be able to read the directions and realize how it should work."

anther comment was "sorry i wasted your time. i thought your job gave you an abiltiy to use individual descretion (it does)"

What can i say... i felt like i was stuck watching a parade of stupidity, apathy and incompetance. when i tried getting to the end, there was still a circus of stupidty and i felt like i was stuck cleaning up after elephants with diahreea. at least i avoided the untamed lions that wanted to bite my head off.

Hey Sally I can always find something new and nutritious to make though .I can usually round up a good joke too.I made Liam a hamburger cake for his birthday .He thought it was awesome it looked like a hamburger it even had fruit rollups softened in the microwave and shaped into lettuce .He had his photo taken with it from every different angle and wasn't sure he wanted to spoil it by eating it till I told him it was chocolate cake !!!!!

5000 cookbooks is pretty extreme Cheri! Wow. Since I use the net so much for recipe trolling, I don't use my cookbooks as much. I've weeded out a lot of them and donated to the local thrift store. I've been thinking about weeding out a few more...

Pam, Since Michael works nights, he sleeps during the day (he switches to night sleeping on his "weekend"). Our two dogs periodically make enough racket that they sleep with him most of the time in order to keep them from waking him up. Other that they --- they have us well trained to their whims!

Pam I collect cookbooks too ,I have a mere ...(are you sitting ) 5000 or so,don't tell Al that Truffles is a chocolate lab or I will never hear the end of a grown man pleading LOL (wait it wouldn't matter I'd get him a chocolate lab if the military would just leave him home long enough so he could walk the dog! True is elderly and walks on the treadmill so my spinal injury and being housebound in winter does not bother her but a puppy would be deprived with me for companionship!

Yeah Trish...Truffles is a chocolate lab...go figure!

And she really likes being retired...she has her own, personal door person so she can come & go on a whim! ALL DAY LONG!!!

And I collect recipe books...love to look at all the lovely pictures...but, alas, I seldom cook them...too much butter, cheese, & other ooey, gooey, tasty stuff in my fabourite recipes. Just thinking about it...

Oh well, will stick to saner foods...with only teeny, tiny, RARE forays into the recipe books! emoticon

It was really hot here too and now I'm waiting on storms to roll through with a cold front on their tail. A few days in the 70's sounds nice.

I spent hours organizing and typing recipes. I'm always finding something new and tweaking recipes and to have them neat and organized is a daunting task. At least the ones I want to take to my sisters are in better form now. YAY!

Pam, I think it takes being a rider, or in that community, to really understand how phenomenal some of these riders are.

Gail, we had a nice ride yesterday and dinner out. This restaurant serves wine from a Nebraska winery and I really enjoyed the glass of red I ordered. I've wanted to go to this winery for over a year and it just hasn't happened. Pfft.

Hey kids.

Had a fun Saturday. Got some chores done early in the day then hubs and I went to The Legends. It's a shopping district near the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, KS. Shopped there a bit, husband bought me an early birthday present, a new fly rod, then we ate lunch at Cheeseburgers in Paradise. After that, we went to a winery to taste some wine. It was pretty good, we bought two bottles of wine.

Had a great day yesterday, but exhausted today! Got to the bike competition about 7:30 a.m....home about 10:30 p.m. (g/f came & let Truffles out a couple times)

Lost my pedometer sometime in late afternoon...now I have to go find another one, in my price range, that I like...had racked up lots of steps, too...

Saw some amazing riding yesterday - some of these riders are so fantastic...as a rider myself, I can truly appreciate just how phenomemal these folks are!

However - today - I am SORE! Standing on the tarmack from 7:30 in the morning 'til about 3 in the afternoon is not the best way to care for your knees!

I will survive...today will be a lazy day!

Our nights have been cool for a week or two so it's made great sleeping weather. It will probably we warm enough to turn on the a/c later today though - at least in part of the house.

I'm being very bad sparking right now rather than getting ready to head into the city. Suppose I had better get moving.

Today has been a gorgeous day...& tomorrow is supposed to be the same. Had a nice ride on the bike, visited with some friends, had a nice little BBQ at the Harley dealership...yup, was a great day.

Tomorrow looks to be a long day - judging a motorcycle competition - all day on the tarmack, but can these folks ride! I will be exhausted by the end of the day. Will be interesting to see what the pedometer says...

Evening is getting cool...should sleep like a log tonight!

Hey boys and girls.

We've had some awesome freakin weather this week that has enabled the hubs and I to get in our after work walks. Then when we get home, we open a bottle of wine and sit outside in the backyard enjoy the day. Supposed to warm up a tad for the weekend but cool down again next week.

We are so enjoying having the wdws open at night.

Hi folks...much better day today...no headache, thanx the weather gods...weather is the catalyst for my migraines

Went to my motorcycle club meeting tonight...great turnout, even had some new members out. Going up to one of the dealerships tomorrow for dinner & then judging a motorcycle competition on Saturday...all day, in the sun, on the pavement...long day, but love to see the improvement in some of the competitors from the previous year.

The organizers have brought back a couple of really challenging courses...it will be fun.

Oh well...just about my bed-time...still dragging tonight

Ed, what the heck - I think you should go for it too! See the country and have some fun. Just for the sake of everyone...remember to shower at the truckstops since I'm assuming the VW bus doesn't come equipped with one!

Pam, Hooray that you have enterered the current century on internet speed! Like De, I think my internet is powered by a chipmunk on a treadmill but I think the chipmunk in this area is on crutches. Somebody probably got mad at how slow he was and broke his leg.

I sure hope your migraine has improved and you don't get more.

We had a nice gathering with our motorcycle club last night. The dealership provided the meal and there were bike games to play. I enjoyed chatting with lots of people. The weather was beautiful and we rode the long roundabout way home to enjoy the evening.

Today I had fun redoing some pictures and matting. I love seeing what I can come up with using what I have on hand rather than going out to buy something different. It was fun and I'm pleased with the results.
