I'm feeling good today. I made a conscious decision to catch up some on rest this past weekend. I've been getting way too little sleep for way too long, so I chilled out over the weekend, watched a bunch of stuff I had recorded, played with the dogs, and generally took it easy. I feel great for having done!

Not so good this past weekend. Sciatica flared big time. Used the tennis ball trick and will try to see Chiro ASAP. It's hell to be chronologically challenged.

I am considering taking up running and have been attempting it on the treadmill at the gym. I have always had a hard time running, when in jr. high my boyfriend was on the track team at the local high school. He never understood about the running but I start to wheeze.

Today, I have decided to start back using my wii/wii fit. I am out of bottled water, except 1.5. It is a beautiful day. I been doing laundry and sparking. I planned 100 minutes of st exercises today. So far, got 10 minutes in, besides my pedometer walking. I got more pics taken and need to get them up.

Why limit your thought process? You are training....You are competing....that makes you an athlete. You go Girl!!

I really do believe that any increase in movement, exercise, physical activity, competition or sport added to our daily life can give us that extra edge we need to stay healthy....at any weight.

Sometimes your clothes tell you more accurately what's going on than the scale does!

I'm tooting my own horn today, as I just finished my second-ever 5K. I ran/walked since I'm still getting over some chest congestion, and finished in around 42 minutes. Yes, that's really slow - but it's faster than last time! Woo hoo!

I am increasing my speed on the elliptical at the gym, though I haven't been there for a few days. Tomorrow the day belongs to the gym. I need an extended workout to lose this weight, my body looks different but the scale isn't budging. Ok, admittedly it is broken but it should at least register weight loss.

For weight loss, I bet that spending more time at a more moderate pace is probably better, Mare. I'm just impatient and don't like spending more than an hour a day exercising, LOL. That bike ride sure sounds like fun!

I'll stick to my race walking and Nordic trekking... it's pushing me and making me happy.
I'm going to go on a bike ride to the beach today with my son. 13-20 mile ride depending on where all we go. And swimming. Yum. I did get in over an hour walk last night- about 7:30 it was cooling down a bit.

And I agree, Gail - 30 minutes of running is great for a regular regimen. If I weren't planning on this 5K I probably wouldn't push it past that right now, especially after having the crud for a week or 2. Once I'm past this one I'm going to scale the time back down and work on speeding up my pace a little. Boy, am I slow.

I know how you feel, Mare. When it gets into the ugly, sweltering, humid days of summer here in the south, I make myself get up at 7 or earlier to walk/run ... otherwise, it just won't happen. Heck, even at 7am it's sometimes 80 degrees here in July/August.

I'm still only doing 2 miles/30 minutes with prox 5-8 of walking in between. However I usually do a 30 min cardio DVD before I run so I feel like I'm getting plenty of leg work done.

Yep, me too. But of course there would be that awkward period when I would be mostly tan with white freckles. Odd-looking.

I'm pretty happy with myself today ... ran 40 minutes in 10-minute intervals with 2-minute walks in-between, about 3.5 miles total. Ready for that 5K this weekend!

I love my Cali tan. I never got completely white this year. I use a 20 block out most of the time, but I am nicely brown.

I teach swimming and water aerobics so I am always on the lookout for good suits. I think it makes my adult students less intimidated to begin a water program if they see me leading the class. I may be "fluffy" but I am fit. And nobody's judging them.

Well, back to the bathing suits ... I stopped caring several years ago whether anyone thinks I look like a big white beached whale in my bathing suit. I spent all day at the beach today, and loved every minute of it. Life's just too short to let body image anxiety keep you from enjoying the water!

(Not that I don't look high and low for a suit that makes me look as cute as possible ... LOL ...)

It brought me back to this page and that post. But...ok this is my day in a nut shell: woke up with a headache, took a meds, went to the gym my ex was there. Started talking to him quickly remembered why he was my ex. He kept telling me that my living arrangements, with family, he couldn't deal with. He hated that I don't have a car nor any money to give him. I developed another headache so I left the gym. As soon as I was far enough away my headache left. But I gave him my cell phone number. I think I might be brain damaged...I kind of miss him...

Penny ~ not all emoticons show up on the panel. Here is a link to a thread where we all went thru the numbers to see additional emoticons.

All you do is select an emoticon then you can change the number in the middle to something else.

The whip guy is #71.
