To control the outcome of anything, you control the action at the point of decision making.

If you let others make decisions for you, you give up control. When you control the decisions, you control the actions.

It's your life. You decide what you are going to do with it.

If you don't run your own life someone else will. You are in control of your life to the degree you make decisions.

Take charge of your life so that there is no longer a need to ask permission of others. When you ask permission, you are giving someone else veto power over your life.

Take control and start making those decisions. Only you are responsible for your life.

A successful person makes decisions.

Do you feel that you are in control of your life? Do you let others make your decision for you? Until I was diagnosed with the type 2 diabetes I was letting a dietitian and DOCTOR plan my medication, plan my meals, plan my life... and I had no control over it! How do these "textbook" answers fit me as an individual? were they the right answer for me or was I given the status quo ..."Pat" answer. I certainly wasn't given any choice as to what I could do... and why I ended up with type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol etc was beyond me... but on the good side...I was losing weight!

When I switched dietitians, doctors and councilors I was now given the control over the ultimate decision making! They gave me the information and what I needed to do to correct the problem and gave me the solutions to correct the problem and it was up to me to do something about my situation.

It was a do or die situation and I made the right decisions needed to get back on track!

Now the cholesterol numbers are in the "Normal" range, the high blood pressure is now controlled and in the normal range and the diabetes readings are between 5.1 and 7.0 (90 to 120) With the proper diet,exercise and positive attitude I've managed to turn everything around!

The time to get involved with your health is now! Do research, learn all you can about your ailments, get involved with your treatments... find out if there are alternate treatments, cures, or even a different way to handle your treatment. Get a second or third opinion if need be so you know for sure what your options are and don't let others control your treatment fully! If you need medication to stay alive then take them... but control the rest! your diet is an individualistic process! I've been told many times since joining Sparkpeople... Knowledge is power... and I believe in that! The more you know the better decisions you can make to aid in your treatment and recovery. My Cardiologist, who is also a dietitian, gave me a ton of information and showed me where to look to find the answers that I need to know start my recovery. He gave me the basic guidelines to follow but gave me the choice on how to proceed... after all... It is my life and as he put it... I needed to research what was right for me!
He then enrolled me into a Diabetic councilling course so I knew how to test myself and what were the most effective foods to "lower the numbers!These 3 people gave me what I needed to know to survive but they also gave me the tools and pointed me in the right direction regarding my treatment and Nutrition. They put me in charge of "Me"

Are you in control of your decisions? are you in control of you nutrition, are you in control of your exercise program?

It's time to take an active part in your life and take back control! The Doctors can give you the medication to survive but only you can find out what's really right for you! and your situation.

At this point your goals should be able to point you in the right direction!

Do what's right for you! The time for you is NOW!
Use whatever resources are available to make to right decision for you and go for it!... You're worth it!

To simply medicate yourself and hope that's enough is not good enough! You need to change your lifestyle to make the situation that you're in better... You can do it! The power is within you to be the best you can be...

Why settle for second best when you can be the best!
Do the research! You'll find the right answers for you... all you have to do is look!
