I have it on my Kindle but somehow wasn't in the mood in December - I may read it in January! I'm interested to see if I agree with Jenn's comment about her being depressed. I've read it before but have forgotten a lot of it...

The print was too small for me so I ordered it in large print.
I'll get back to you on this one. emoticon

I tried to read this....have read Austen years before and always enjoyed the books, but I am not in a place to read this now for some reason and it just irritated me...everything I read I found irritating! Weird, I know, but I couldn't get past it at the moment (the class-ism was irritating to me for some reason) and so I put it aside and read other stuff instead. I'll check back later to see what the January book is?

Finished on Wednesday. I never get tired of reading Jane Austen.
I did see what Jenn meant about Emma being depressed. Once you got that idea in your head it really seemed to be true.
I once listened to an audio recording of Emma and every time I read it now I can totally hear the narrator's voice whenever Miss Bates is speaking.

Just picked it up at the library today. Another book with very small print.
Gonna keep your thought in mind, Jenn. Looking forward to starting it tonight or tomorrow. emoticon

This is my third time reading Emma. But this time, something strikes me. Everyone always sees Emma as precocious and naive. But...is she DEPRESSED? I am seeing lots of signs that Emma is extremely...clinically...depressed.

Look for it. Do you see it, too?

I am on Book 2, chapter 1. I have been enjoying reading Emma again. I have a neighbor that totally reminds me of the young Miss Bates.

This December, we'll be reading Jane Austen's classic novel *Emma,* as we take on a long classics series.

The "classics series" will include books with key scenes involving food. Looking forward to it!
