That was back in the early 80s. Treatments were not as good. She died about a year after she was diagnosed.

I have never tried acupuncture, but if it gives you some relief that is good.

Is your mother in law still with you? Boy she had a rough ride of it.
I had acupuncture today. I felt great but it seems to be stiffening up again. My friend told me that because the pain is chemo induced she wasn't sure this would last but I was praying.
Have a great day. Fran

I'm glad you are having some good days, Fran. I haven't had lymphoma myself. But my mother had breast cancer in her 50s, which we thought she had kicked; then when she was 61, she was diagnosed with lymphoma. She went through the chemo, and I remember how tired she was.

Day 10 and 11 have been wonderful. I feel as close to normal as I could possibly expect with chemo. Today was the first day I drove to town (30 miles) by myself and it was wonderful to do NORMAL. Attended 2 meetings, had lunch out and drove back home with no problems. Whew....what a relief! So now maybe I can start to gauge when my rough days will be and plan around those times. Thanks so much for asking about me. I haven't been able to type much but today it's a little easier. Tomorrow I am getting acupuncture to help the pain. Yeah!!

May I ask how long you have had this disease and have you relapsed? Take care, fran

There is no hope of my overdoing. Strength has not returned to my body yet. I am as weak as a baby. Went shopping for a wig yesterday and was in agony the rest of the night. I thought the preds would give me energy but not so far. Shaky body and sore muscles allover. It is a challenge just to type a small email. But it's killing the cancer and I just have to give it time to do that. Love you guys for being there. Today is our 40th anniversary. Whoo hooo

Fran, I am glad things went fairly well. It is so great you had your daughter with you. And good for listening to your body - don't try to push too hard!

Fran, I'm so glad your daughter was with you on your first day of chemo. It truly will be an adventure. I'm glad they got you past your allergic reaction without too many complications.

And good for you for listening to your body; when you need to sit, it will tell you!

Love to you, from your Spark Friends,

First thank you for all your prayers since this all began in August.

My first day of chemo was pretty uneventful praise God. We arrived at the TMH Cancer Center at 8:30 a.m. to register. While waiting for things to begin I had a few moments of “get me the heck out of here tears” but it passed. I had a rosary in my pocket and a prayer shawl my sister sent me, ok ready.

Between paperwork and getting set up in the treatment room it was 11 a.m. or so before the actual chemo started. We were there for 11 hours yesterday, a long day. The chemo itself was 8 hrs. long. I was fortunate that some of the anti-nausea and other premeds helped me sleep through most of the day. My poor daughter Kim was not so lucky. She had a small wooden chair with a padded seat to sit in when she wasn’t walking around the hospital. Oh and DH (not a little guy and diabetic too) was really grateful she went with me instead of him!

The reason the chemo was so long was because I had an allergic reaction (not uncommon) to the 3rd drug, Rituxan. I began itching an hour into it, started at my ankles and traveled up my body and into my inner ears, mouth and deep in my throat. I wished I had a bottle brush to itch that! They stopped the med and the on call doc gave me Benadryl and something else I can’t recall the name of and in just a few minutes no itching, good stuff. About 15 minutes later they started the chemo again very slowly. Then about an hour before it would have ended they increased the dosage and I started sneezing my head off with runny nose and eyes. Stopped it again and the symptoms almost disappeared instantly. No extra meds this time and started the chemo in 5 minutes with no further problems.

I really felt fine on the hour long ride home. When I began to feel a little queasy I took the anti nausea meds I had in my purse and I was fine. I won’t leave home without those little pills. Went to bed about 10 and slept until 4 a.m. today. I was queasy when I woke up so more meds. I swept the floors and was fiddling around the kitchen and making coffee when all of sudden my body said “we are going to sit down RIGHT NOW”…………..this will be an adventure and I’m thrilled to have all of you on it with me!

Love to all and I thank God everyday for each of you.

Yep, LLS SPARK TEAM. I'm so glad your all here. I haven't wanted to talk to anyone today. Bedtime can't come soon enough. I have to be out of the house at 7 a.m. for the hour drive to the hospital so early to bed tonight.

Get ready for whiplash again. The oncologist called at 9 p.m. tonight, never a good thing!

He said that after reading my PET scan I didn't need to go through the biopsy. He already knew that the cancer was in my bones and also he found it in my abdomen. He wants us at his office at 7:30 am. Friday to discuss chemo options. He was so kind when he called and explained all this to me. Let the battle begin.

I just received the call letting me know the bone biopsy will be next Wed, the 27th. I really feel relieved just to find that out but I took a deep breath for the first time in days when the nurse told me they will put me to sleep for the test. Please keep the results in your prayers. Thanks.

Thanks Jan and Debbie. I don't know about the bravery, I feel like my emotions are swinging so fast I never know if I'll laugh or cry when someone speaks to me. Mostly I'm in prayer mode. Hope you ladies are doing ok these days too.

What a roller coaster ride it's been with this thing. Wednesday I took my PET scan expecting no problems. today the nurse called to tell me all this. The PET scan showed cancer cells in the bones. Both thighs, left hip, s1 spine and rt rib. The Hospital will call to schedule a bone biopsy. I'm worn out from whiplash!

My appt. with the onc went great today. He examined me and doesn't believe any other nodes are involved and my blood work looked good. I will have a PET scan next week but he doesn't expect that to show any problems. After that I will go back to the surgeon to have the tumor in my colon removed. That's it other than a yearly check up with scan. He said this was a very unusual place to find lymphoma. Thanks for all your prayers and support through this stress in my life.
