A whole grain bread is best. The whole wheat label, if not 1005, is still high in carbs. Here is a table I found online: www.fatsecret.com/calories-nutrition

I cannot eat 100% whole wheat all the time. I am allergic to everything and need to rotate my foods. I like oatmeal bread but I only eat one slice. As long as the rest of the meal is half veggies low on the gylcemic index I enjoy Pepperidge Farm Stoned Ground Multigrain Rolls. It is not that low in carbs but I need to have a firm good bread that I toast once in a while.

Any bread with high fiber content has a lower glycemic index. I was told to eat only bread that has at least 9% fibers. Can't recommend anything specific because I don't live in the States, but it should be written on the packaging.

Your current safe boundaries were once unknown frontiers.

I have been using the Glycemic Index which explains the effects of certain foods on your blood glucose. I was wondering, I see bread pretty high on the ladder for the Med diet, what types of bread? I know on the Low Glycemic, pumpernickel and sour dough seem to be the preferred breads, causing less spikes.
