SKIPSIDE, I agree. Food stamps should be used for whole some food. The government should enforce that. Maybe we should send a message to Mrs. Obama. She is trying to advocate healthy eating among children.

Article with alot of good points.

I keep hearing that bad nutrition and obesity are are huge issues now compared to a couple of decades ago ... so, I was very surprised this weekend to learn that several states are looking to allow food stamps to be used to purchase fast food.... isn't the wrong move? I think we should go back to the rules of a couple decades ago when they could NOT be used to buy soda or candy or potato chips etc. Seems like that would be a good small step to take to begin improving the situation.

That was a great article! When I was working and raising a family, it never occurred to me to use fast food to feed my family on a regular basis. I cooked big quantities on weekends, froze it, and put things together quickly when I got home at night. I wish parents today would set a good example, teach their children to make healthy choices, and keep the fast food meals to a rare treat. If we don't change our eating habits as a nation soon, tproblems brought on by obesity are going to break our medical system.

Definitely an interesting article.
When you get used to less processed, homemade food, the fast food just doesn't taste that good emoticon

I read this article featured by SparkPeople this week. Its a topic that is constantly in the news and affects millions of Americans and other countries as well. We live a hurried life and eat too many fast-food meals. Our children are not learning to eat sound and healthy foods and the obesity rate keeps going up. As mentioned in the article and I agree, "we must slow down" and try to add healthy meals to the family table a couple of times a week. This is one topic that I wish we could get a handle on. Please read and share with others.
