HOPESING - I eat yogurt just about everyday! When I get that craving to snack... I head for the yogurt. I eat the plain non-fat kind... although I have eaten the plain all fat kind, too. I don't care for the yogurts that are flavored, I like to have control over the flavors & sugars. Most of the time when I use fresh or frozen fruit and I don't need to add any honey to sweeten. But I also like just yogurt with vanilla extract... then I will add a small amount of honey to sweeten.

I feed Hadleigh (our 1 yr old granddaughter) plain, unflavored, unsweetened yogurt everyday. She loves it!! Start them off young eating right and it will stay with them forever.

My dad, my uncle, my brother-in-law, and my ex-husband were all Chiropractors and we always ate healthy from the health food store. I stayed slim all my life eating this way until my thyroid was removed. I know that eating right is the key to a long healthy life.

Whats real bad to is that the doctors are giving them out so much and people, are over using them and by that there are new strains of strep and staff and even T/B that antibiotics no longer work on them. and what is even scarier then that is some of those strains nothing can kill them off. and the staff/strep and all are all over allot of hospitals now i learned that in nursing school in 95/96. and with continuing education that we have to do to keep our licence current I have studied that these strains are still out there and still growing.. it makes me worry with a healthy women going into the hospital giving birth to a healthy child and both of them getting strep because the delivery room had the strain in it.

I am reading a book called The Maker's Diet, about what was eating in biblical times. The guy that wrote it talks about antibiotics killing off the good bacteria in your body and what that could lead too. I haven't finished it yet, but it is interesting so far.

my doctor who is very much into eating the foods you need for vitamins instead of just taking a vitamin says that eating yogurt everyday "no fat" is one of the best things you can do for your body it is natures way of balancing the good bacteria in your body.. if eaten everyday it can even help bad breath, colon health, yeast infections, "very important to eat daily if you are on a antibiotic." cause the antibiotic will kill allot of your natural bacteria in your body. that is way we get yeast infections. yogurt prevents that from happening. also the protein in it and it is a dairy product which most women need and don't get enough of in their diet. do to fragile bones later in life...Being a nurse I tend to know something....

You're not alone- I eat yogurt (usually greek, always non-fat) every day. My "dessert" is frozen mixed berries with a dollop of yogurt!

The following links are meant as suggestions for you as a reference and not necessarily an endorsement.

Meat, Dairy and Eggs
Eat a low to moderate amount of eggs, poultry, fish, cheese and yogurt on the Mediterranean diet, perhaps twice per week for each item. Fatty fish such as salmon and herring are best, as they are excellent sources of omega-3 fatty acids, as noted by MayoClinic.com. Restrict red meat intake to a few times per month, and it should be lean and in small portions.

Less meat and lean meats. The median consumption was about 4 ounces of meat per day. The rule of thumb is to eat red meat only about once a week. When you are choosing meats, look for leaner cuts that will have less saturated fats. Most recipes on the Dr. Gourmet site use 4 ounces as a standard serving in a recipe whether it is beef, lamb, poultry or fish.

Limited amounts of lamb & pork are permitted but they must be lean cuts.
