Just finished dinner - Tilapia Tacos - mmm, mmm, good.

Sheree, best wishes on your recovery. Sounds like you had the same kind of hyst that I had about 10 yrs ago. I was off work for 6 wks. I lost several pounds during recovery, so you might do the same.

I have used allrecipies.com and I also like simplyrecipies.com

Ok I like Salmon steaks and even homemade salmon patties, but I have to admit I hate the dark part on the bottom of the steak because it has a very strong fish taste. I usually remove it unless I order it at a resturaunt and have no control over this.

But I saw a recipe where they used balsalmic vinegar and maple syrup to baste the salmon. I just seem to like the salt, lemon pepper, and olive oil. I squeeze a little fresh lemon juice on it. I guess I just like it simple!!!!

I use the website
allrecipes.com quite a bit. One of the things I like about this site is thatat the top they have an Ingredient button and you can type it items that you have or you thought were in a dish andit will list those recipes thathave those items in it. The other website I like is Cooks.com and it is a clarin house of people that list their recipes, so it is kinda like arummage sale .... u gotta be ready to look. The recipes on both sites are free and I found some great recipes.

LOL Yeah I talked myself into making some. LOL

My name is Sheree. I got so hungry I got up today and thought all day about thawing out the tilapia. LOL

Well I had hysteectomy 7 days ago. But I joined SP about 3 weeks ago. I thought it must be a sign from God when my Dr. mentioned the mediterranean diet and then I found a book that made reference to another book called "What Would Jesus Eat?" and I bought 3, one for my mom, brother, and myself. I was interested in Manna.... what is it???? I have switched to brown rice (which I like better) and we are from the south so rice is like having potatoes. So bamati rice, brown rice, couscus, etc is right up my alley.. About three yrs ago I had a stroke so I use the Wii Fit Plus to do a lot of my exercise but I have thought about buying the Zumba. Has anyone else used it and what did u all think????

Anyway I have lost almost 12lbs, and really haven't done that much other than change the way I eat. I went 2 days of not eatng very much while I recovered from my hysterectomy. I'm gonna be off for 7 weeks, so I am hoping that during his time I can change my eating habits.

Anyone from this team can add me as a friend.

Joy being from the south I pefer Mayo, but I know my family likes dviledegss and potatoe salad. (my hubby andI look like Jack Sprat and his wife) He weighs less than 200 lbs and is about 6'5" tall. He wears 34x34 pants......... LOL Though eating this weigh is healthier, he just is not going to do it. He hates fish of any kind and u can forget greens. So I kinda cook 2 meals. I usually take out mine before I add all the sauces and stuff to his. LOL

I've used the mayo made with olive oil. It is ok. Has the different taste because of it and at first I thought it was a bit saltier. I just don't use a lot of mayo.

Yep I love Tilapia!!! I just use the olive oil and the salt and lemon pepper like Becky, but I usually put it on a serving size of brown rice that is cooked in ch broth. To make my chicken broth I usually use a little onion and a lean ch breast. (I can use it for another meal) and use my brown rice and salt and pepper in the water. It flavors my rice but I do not have to worry about the other crap they add to canned or boxed broth andI can freeze it if I make a lot of broth. You can use the broth to add seasoning to canned green beans or other veggies for the rest of the family. Just pour the juice off what is in the can and rinse it. I add a half can of broth and some fresh onion, I turn it down on low and let it simmer. I also like to make a 'salsa' to go with my fish which is an avocado, bl olives, tomatoes, red onion.and cucumber with a little salt and pepper, olive oil, and balsalmic vinegar and I let it sit in the refrigerator while I grill or bake my fish. U can alo add this to the top of leafy greens (they say that iceburg lettuce tends to be mainly water that u should use romaine). Anyway I hope that adds some diversity to the meal.

Has anyone use the Mayo that has Olive Oil in it, Is it any good???

I think next time I am going to try some salmon, it looks so good when I was flipping through tons of recipes. Anything pink would have to taste good right? I just love pink it is such a powerful color, pink ribbons for breast cancer, pink is the color of my lips and thats what I use when I need to speak up for myself, and of course I feel most pretty when I wear pink. So I am going to eat and wear pink!! emoticon

Oh my, that sounds sooooo good!

I'm glad it was such a hit. What a mediterranean meal right down to the sharing with family. Now you will have to find a really good way to use the Mango salsa!

My whole family really enjoyed the tilapia for dinner tonight. At first my boys were turning up their noses to the whole idea, but since I let them smell it before placing it in the oven they thought maybe not a bad idea. I coated it with a little olive oil, rubbed some turmeric, curry, salt, and coarse black pepper and finished it with some lemon juice. I forgot all about the mangos but had some fresh salsa on hand so dabbed a lil on the plate beside fish. Served up some salad, fresh bread (Rustic Sesame) with a spread of baba ghannouj, and a nice heap of Garlic Mashed Potatoes with Leeks (found on spark recipes and cut out the butter whipped with nonfat yogurt and sprinkled with cheese and bacos) Even had enough room for a glass of white wine. Now doesn't that sound yummy? I tracked it all in my nutrition tracker and guess what I am still within my range for the day. Wonderful dinner my family, and time well spent laughing at the dinner table.
