Regarding how far have I traveled ...

Short trip is that we moved to Hutchinson MN in summers, to study DH's gggrandfather. DH is writing about him and is ready to print a 300 page 'book' about his life. We bought property the gggrandfather previously owned and loved living there. Sold it last October as we are aging too much to maintain 2 properties.

One of the highways leading to Hutchinson, and less traveled by us runs about a city block from MY grandmother's family parish with their cemetery adjoining. I stopped by about 7 summers in a row to gather information (mostly what I missed in the previous visits). I love to go there, take photos and information...and reflect on the years past by.

But, our biggest trip is that DH's immigrant grandfather settled in Durham NH. The property is still there with a family burial grounds in it. DH and I have visited about 4 times, met and enjoy the present owners and also in 2014 brought 4 of our kids and a nephew out to NH for a week while we learned how to clean the monuments of this old abandoned burial grounds. We dug them up,cleaned and replaced them...

I have located 27 monuments, and foot stones in the burial grounds and also located some of the sunken areas of likely burials without headstones...think of burials of family members who died in winter that had to be preserved to springtime to bury in softer ground...and who would one buy headstones from? A few large stones were strategically placed but no names with them.

I have 3 videos of this trip if anyone is interested contact me with your email address...

Jackie I'm a Halloween baby but many years ago.

5'1.5" - I shrunk from 5'4"
Summer: Minesota
Winter: Arizona (as of Dec. '08)

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of March 2017. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2017 to be back to below 155.

So sorry to have stirred up that hornets nest Dave. I can hear your frustration and rightly justified. HIPAA my tookus. I'd tell them, "I give permission to (whomever it is, the nurses or doctors) who need to see my prescription health records." and I wouldn't fill out another form and I wouldn't bring in a list.
However, I know that's easier said than done, because of prescription side effects, etc.
It would be funny if you brought in five copies and told them, "this is to cover my next five visits" emoticon

Oooohhh Migod! Now there's a sore spot. I'm usually going to several different doctors at once, most of them related by local medical group affiliation. That's what computers are for after all... right? Keep track of all my crap, right? Oh nooooo. No, they gotta' be told every friggin time. So it's either I fill out a new form for every visit or I can take them a printed list of all my meds and they want everything including supplements. What a pain in the posterior. They might as well not have the computers because HIPAA won't let them share anyway. What crap.

I've traveled from Cali to KY when I first got started to research my mom's maternal grandparents.

Dave, wouldn't it be easier for the doctor to access all the medication that's been prescribed to you?

Marge... That's the longest distance for me. I'm old and lazy, so I find ways to procrastinate. I usually replace my computer every five years or so. This is where the old part comes in. I've been doing it long enough that there are about five older computers with information on them that I'll get around to transferring one of these days. Well, crisis time is here as I've realized that there is a bunch of stuff I really need now trapped in machines that haven't been powered up for way too long. I attempted to run my medication list for a doctor yesterday and couldn't find it. It took a while to figure out that it's on the "old" computer I replaced in March. So those few feet are the longest distance for me. I just know it's going to be a pain in the butt and I don't want to do it. That's where the procrastination comes in.

Not very, so far. My paternal side claims the next county and state south of me as home. That is about twenty-five miles and I have visited a couple libraries and historical societies there. Our local library, courthouse, and historical society are within a few hundred yards of my house, so the maternal side has been easy as well.

I have only traveled about 50 miles to get information. But when traveling for other reasons have done genealogy research 1000 miles away. I got my mom to do a big part of it for me when she was working for the censes and they had her doing the censes of private family cemeteries in the Ozark in Arkansas.

Objects in the mirror will get thinner than they now appear
