No, I haven't.

But.
It reminds of the first book in the Elsie Dinsmore series. A little girl is bullied by her older cousin all the time. After she had LABORED over her copywork, while the teacher was out of the room, her cousin dumped her ink jar all over her hard work. And THIS, after the teacher had been intensely picking on little Elsie for the most idiotic reasons-and boy was she going to get it if her copywork wasn't perfect!
I'd like to punch that kid in the nose. But...he's fictional, so there's that.

And we all lived happily ever after...

It's Worth Living.
It's Worth Giving.

I have used the cartridge ones. I thought this meant the ones you had to dip into the inkwell. I have a calligraphy set that has the cartridge pens and several tips for them. One of these days I will have to actually use that. Years ago I did some calligraphy that turned out pretty well, but it wasn't good enough for what my dad wanted me to do (can't remember what that was), so I used the kind that can be rubbed onto things.

F8, what kind of fountain pen do you have?

My favorite is the TWSBI demonstrator pen. I like changing out the inks as well. I like Gouletpens.com and though I have a lot of other pens that have cartridges, my TWSBI is the most reliable and lower maintenance. (and the prices aren't as expensive as the link Dave shared) emoticon

I love writing with a fountain pen. You are able to make such fancy letters. Mine is a cheater as it has a cartridge. I also have different sized nibs.

I loved using a fountain pen. Unfortunately over years I lost the one I had and never replaced it. My boss has one and occasionally uses it. The writing just looks so much nicer. I always wanted to but never did (and still do but don't have time to) learn how to write really nice or learn calligraphy. It's so elegant. Never used a quill and ink well but it still looks like something to learn.

In grade school the nuns never wanted us to use them. I think it was 5th grade we had to use a black ball point pen. I hated those - they leaked all over the place and then we got into trouble for having ink on our uniforms, hands, etc. Still don't like using black pens.

Hey, if you're really interested you can pick up a bargain (heh-heh):

I lost interest in the novelty of them after losing about my third shirt to leaks. We had one adventurous teacher who brought in ink bottles for our inkwells (yes, our desks still had them) and quill pens for penmanship class. I know, what's that, right. A stroll down memory lane when every good young salesman worth his salt carried a fountain pen. Now they carry a laptop or other device, but not much in the way of pens, fountain or otherwise.

I remember them from my grade school years or/and perhaps I remember my Dad using them for his business and he always had his favorite in his shirt pocket. I didn't realize there was method to use them but now thinking about it I guess there was.

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of March 2017. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2017 to be back to below 155.

I never used one for school. But when I got older I wanted to learn how to use one. A couple years ago I was able to buy two better quality ones and I absolutely love one of them. It's very low maintenance and I use it often to write letters to my friends.

I haven't used one in years. I had to do my school work with a fountain pen starting in 5th grade. The school didn't think ball point pens looked professorial.

I've never tried it. In movies of olden days you see people dip the pen in ink, then write so I would assume that is how, but I would probably just end up with big splotches of ink.
