That's fun.

One thing I've enjoyed is naming my children after people in my family. Only two out of nine, do not have a family name, but a strictly Biblical one.
Some family is named after flowers and I carried that tradition on.

But my favorite GIRLS' name that I was going to choose no matter what- turned out to be a family name on BOTH my HUSBAND'S side and MINE!'
That was awesome.

Our baby we lost would have been William Declan, if a boy (husband's choosing)
And Olivia Rejoice if a girl.

I love the idea of using Rejoice.

When I miscarried, my husband had been grieving in his room. Outside his window landed a beautiful DOVE. Both dove and Olivia mean Peace.
That was very special to him.

And we all lived happily ever after...

One of my projects is to write the stories and relationships in our family and get them off the computer and into the hands of where they belong. I will make copies for our city and state museums. Perhaps they will sit on a shelf but perhaps someone will pick them up and enjoy them as I do the items that have been donated to the museums in the past.

This week I received a note from our granddaughter who had her DNA done to let me know what it told her. One was it gave her the region, and likely county in Ireland where she was connected by DNA. I proudly could add to that by naming the town and identifying the home of my grandmother and her great grandmother! In fact this note reminds me to send her a picture of the home that I was going to do and will do right now.

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of March 2017. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2017 to be back to below 155.

There was a brief moment when members of one branch of my family were interested in genealogy, family reunions, old family stories. That is the weird branch of my family. They argued over whether our grandma had ever remarried after grandpa died. This is only ONE generation past. If she did remarry, they never lived together, but never divorced. If they never married, he was the creepy neighbor. No one had any actual evidence, but no one gave in. I need to do more research there...

F8CONE8, The trick to get someone to appreciate your genealogy work is to NOT tell them you wrote it out and let them come across it accidentally after you're gone.

That's what seems to be the trick. Otherwise, people just see you doing the research and think it's a common enough thing that it becomes no big deal to them.
But if they think the very people who could give ANY information at all, is now gone from them forever, BAM! Suddenly the appreciate anything they come across.

I suppose some might. Young people today don't seem to care about anything in the past the way it really was though.

I don't have any descendants, so have only been trying to find my ancestors' information for my own curiosity.

Hopefully there will be some who will appreciate the work that I have done tracing our family roots and will keep it going.

There have always been people that cared, I expect there always will. I had a relative that sent me a box of junk. She said since it was written many generations ago she didn't want to pitch it. It was a hand written genealogy written back in the 1700 and going back 10 generations. All I had to do was verify it.

Objects in the mirror will get thinner than they now appear

After many false starts I'm writing a book regarding my ancestors especially the stories including my own. It is going to take a lot of effort but I think someone may appreciate it.

Do you think about our descendants who will be researching us in a hundred years or so? Do you take any special steps to make things easier for them?
