That sounds like a wonderful place, Jackie. I always wanted to try sculpture, but never did. Just about everywhere I went and every thing I ever tried to do I was told I would never be any good at. For some reason I kept to the oil painting for quite a while and I would like to get back into that. I need new paints, though. Mine are all leaking. Drawing is a problem for me, but I did learn something to help me a few years ago. I couldn't get proportions correct (drew a square dancer once who's head is as big as the rest of her body) and they told me how to use a graph to get it correct.

Darlene, yes we are in an active community that offers classes in painting with oils, water colors, and what ever.. recently added colored pencil art and lots of other stuff. In college I received A+ in my sculptures in clay which are still displayed in my home. I'd love to get back to that but think it is too ambitious for me.

Bridge is one of the organized games offered here (free) and I find a great challenge to myself playing .There are other card games and tile games daily but I stick to bridge.

Lots of other stuff like a free work out room, with a huge collection of of thread mills and other neat exercise machines which bore me :(

3 pools with organized activities which I might take up lap swimming next year...

All this is here and mostly offered free. Classes are a small fee...Time is my limit!

Jackie I'm a Halloween baby but many years ago.

Personal goal is to weigh in 159 by the end of March 2017. I did not make my previous goal so must do better...I ACHIEVED THE GOAL OF REACHING 151 IN MAY 2013. A LOSS OF 37 POUNDS! Summer of 2014 I gained 10 pounds of it back while traveling to the BVI's and Ireland so I have set a new goal for 2017 to be back to below 155.

I'm really getting interested in starting to take some classes. The busyness of Life is settling down and maybe I'll have more time...and more money.
I've got the craft room, now, so I'll have no excuse for work space!

And we all lived happily ever after...

Wow, Jackie, you are really busy. I don't see how you keep up. Are you in a living area where they have activities like the water color class? I know there are a lot of retirement villages around here that have things like that. A friend lived in one and started their painting classes. She was really good and said it was the first she had done.

I mainly do all my stuff that is through a class at the libraries or the Recreation centers. So if it is something I haven't done, or haven't done in a long time, I go to one of those. I hope that everyone can find something like that in their areas.

i have lots that I want to improve on. I have a list to work on, most of these daily.

I used to have my own green house with thousands of plants. I seldom bought a plant but propagated and rescued them to achieve so many. We moved and were snowbirds so indoor plants were impossible to maintain and that hobby declined until this year we became 'rounders" (year around living) so I'm collecting succulents and starting to grow indoor plants in AZ. No greenhouse, but working on what I can achieve without one. Probably will turn our guestroom into a plant room.

I also have unfinished needlework I work on daily mostly if I watch TV.

I wrote a column in a quarterly National plant magazine which I resigned last year after 25 years. Then became a member of the landscape committee here and have a monthly 'tips' for the garden club so by resigning the column I didn't save time for myself.

Genealogy remains my main goal and I try to work on it daily. My end goal is to make books for my kids and get all the information off my computer and into the museum where history belongs.

I always have a book I'm reading. I follow 3 book clubs lists, but do not belong to the clubs - no time for that.

I play bridge two afternoons a week and am the substitute manager for them to set up and manage the game. I also play online bridge for 1.5 hrs each day.

I have a jigsaw set up from Christmas to summer to work on while watching TV News.

I would like to join a water color painting class but that s on hold just now.

And, I'm loyal to the Sparks programs and answering all the questions Sandy comes up with :)

I think that I am a bit like Susan's mother. Lately I want to learn everything I can. I might not continue with it, like for crafts that won't continue, but I want to learn how to do it. I am even trying crossword puzzles again, which I haven't ever been able to do.

I have been a photographer for a long time. I recently expanded to photography based art using photoshop. I also love Quilting and lots of crafts. Genealogy has become an addiction. It's a good thing I'm retired!

Photography is top. Collecting (coins, books, artist prints), computers and gaming, music, and local history/genealogy. I'm easily distracted, so nothing gets the attention it should.

My mother said that we should always continue learning something new.
She was a good example!
She regularly took classes down at the library or the museum (painting, caligraphy, ceramics, genealogy, photography, film developing...and more.)

Me? Not so much, but I'm at the stage when I am much more free to begin.

I do like to write, read, draw, dabble with paint. Those are all things that come naturally to me, I need to develop them. (I'm not good on follow through.) I did a lot of sewing when my girls were young, but that wasn't from a love of sewing, it was from a love of cute clothes. I do occasional crocheting.
I really enjoy reading up on mothering and home-educating.

And we all lived happily ever after...

I use you tube, books, and was going to a knitting club at the library. The knitting stitches book was helping a lot, but I couldn't understand one part of it, so I went to the knitting club. I will probably go back there sometime, but haven't made it for a while. I looked at you tube for casting on since I have problems with it.

Darlene, I've always wanted to learn to knit. It was suggested to me to look on youtube to learn. How are you doing it?

I think I will dabble in just about anything arts or crafts. Mostly it is painting, photography, crochet and jewelry in recent years. I would like to find something I can make some money on, too. It varies with my mood and season what I do. I also sometimes will do leather work, embroidery and try whatever they have at the library. I am learning to knit.

model railroading---i use to work at a plastic compounding plant and we had railcars come in with raw material and we would fill cars up with finished product and ship them out, well the guys that did that job made about 2 dollars a hour more because of the responsibility that went with the job. also we would load bulk tanks up and unload those too. it was a hard job but after you learned the job it wasn't that bad... had to work outside in the cold but the company bought all the cold weather gear we wanted, great job till i had my stroke...... just now learning leather work...

What hobbies do you enjoy? How did you get started on them? Which ones do you spend the most time on? Does the time spent on them vary with the seasons?
