OH man Susan, I read your post yesterday, but wasn't able to respond then. The first thing that came to my mind was,
DID THEY GET THE VACCINATION?

yes?

Then why the drama? They're so stupid.

I've been vaccinated and I STILL got; mumps, measles, chicken pox, and obviously flu viruses.

Taking your child to the doctor now is so scary.

She's on the mend.
But pretty miserable because it's so itchy.

We treated her with Advil, Benedryl and fluids for 24 hours until we decided we might want to have her checked out.

We went to Urgent Care, who declared it looked like MEASLES, after hearing that we do not allow her to have vaccinations. Then they reported it to the Health Department who then ordered us to go to a children's hospital 30+ miles away for evaluation and confirmation.
We had to go to a particular door where they MET us and took us directly to a DECOMPRESSION ROOM. No one allowed in or out except for particular personnel. We had to even answer questions over the phone from the room.

Five people had asked us casually about her vaccinations and never 'reacted' aloud, but each made some kind of dig.
One nurse dramatically put a mask on (at Urgent Care) and treated us coldly.
The doctor there said, "Is that by CHOICE?"
(UH...no, our pediatrician tied us down and wouldn't let us vaccinate her. lol)

Then he said they couldn't be certain because none of them had ever SEEN Measles before because it's basically non-existent now a days (why? he inferred that THAT was due to vaccinations eliminating it.) Sorry, buddy, there have been several cases in several states. But they didn't know that WE knew that.

They sent us on our way (to the hospital) with care instructions:
Advil, Benedryl and fluids.

EXACTLY WHAT DADDY PRESCRIBED AND HAD BEEN DOING ALL ALONG.
'STUPID PARENTS" EH?

Then the Children's Hospital doc, though she didn't berate us, got her dig in, too, eventually.
First, after I said,
"Where on earth would she have picked up MEASLES?"
As she examined my daughters body thoroughly she said, "I'm not so sure it IS Measles."
She finally decided it wasn't and left the room to report it to the contagious disease people.
As she walked out the door she said with a 'friendly laugh',
"Now maybe you'll reconsider vaccinations-save you from another scare in the future!"

Hubby said, "Uhhhh, NO."
But she was gone out the door-
So she got her 2-cents in......even though it WAS NOT MEASLES.

Please note: WE were not the ones 'scared', THEY were the ones being dramatic. WE happened to know where our daughter was and what she'd been exposed to.

Annd even if it WAS? There's nothing to do but let it run it's course.

The came back in and took photos of her body (her belly, her back, her face, her eyes, her mouth, her arms and legs.
It's for our daughter's files, they said, and would be erased off of the phone.( they'd better be!)
This virus could cause pneumonia so they also took a chest xray to be safe. It was clear.

After all that, we were sent home with orders to give:
Advil or Tylenol, Benedryl and fluids.

huh!
emoticon

To tell you the truth, I've got the impression that they were disappointed. And also that they 'gave us a scare' to make a point. I really do.

Good grief! If you only knew what we went through on Friday when we took my daughter to Urgent Care for a rash that had continued to spread.

Darlene, sorry to hear about the technology not working properly. So frustrating! I have been having issues with computers and microsoft every year for about four years in a row. I'm sick of them both.

If it doesn't work they'll help you. Usually the problem is the software is older than the computer hardware, but that's a quick fix for them.

That's discouraging. I got it on sale a couple years ago and never used it. Hope I don't need service since there probably isn't any after that long?

My pets and I seem to understand each other pretty well now. I would love to be able to speak and understand other languages than English.

To communicate with other people in their native tongue would be incredible. If we all spoke one language think of all the hate that would dissipate!

That's a hard question. I love animals & would love to hear what they have to say instead of just wondering. On the other hand, I also love meeting people from other cultures so being able to talk to them in their native language would be great. Can I have both?
