Hm...I love both April Fool's Day and Easter. I didn't even REMEMBER that it was April Fools until the end of the day. Shoot.

When I was a child, we kids would HIDE our Easter Baskets from Mom and Dad. Then, after we went to bed, THEY had to find them. Once found, they would fill them with yummies and then RE-HIDE them for us to search for in the morning before church.
My mom had candy molds and would make beautiful designs. Sometimes chocolate Crosses.
She had a gift for making things special.

BUT as a Christian mother myself, I'm not really in to Easter baskets and candy for the kids. I struggled a long time between what is 'fun' and what is 'to the point'.

I finally came up with this:
On Easter Eve, I make each family member their own individual loaf of bread and purchase individual grape juices....to represent Communion. That is our Easter Morning Breakfast. Sometimes we have colored eggs, but we haven't been doing that too often since it's pretty irrelevant to the occasion.
Some folks actually purchase GIFTS for their kids....I would never do that for Easter.
However, I have often placed something that will help them with their Bible Studying at their place at the table.
Sometimes it's notebooks and pens, or bookmarks, or highlighters.

This year, lol, I bought a three prong hand rake for each member, chuckle, and placed it at their table, to remind them to keep weeding their spiritual garden. Hubby added some sun-flower seeds. Then I wrote a note with questions on how well they were doing examining their lives and their spiritual growth. It seems to have gone over quite well.

After church we spend the day at Hubby's mother's house. We are running out of young ones to search for eggs, but we still did it.
The adults sat around the dining room table and filled hundreds of eggs with candy. Two of my daughters went out and hid them for the younger three kids...which really aren't young. but hey, they like candy, lol. They mischievously dumped about HALF of them in some tall grass. Our youngest daughter discovered them and spent several minutes hiding among them trying to fit them all in her bag.....while the other two searched the rest of the yard.
It was pretty funny.

And we all lived happily ever after...

It's Worth Living.
It's Worth Giving.
Choose Life.

OK, I guess the weatherman wasn't pranking us. We now have freezing rain. Things sure do change in a hurry around here.

No pranks since a kid. Easter we go to church. Other than that nothing now. When family was all closer together we had an Easter dinner together and an egg hunt for the kids.

Today is Easter, Mom, minister, will do flower communion at church.

Today is April 1st, Mom's unBirthday, she turns 28 today. April 4th is her birthday and she turns 29. On April 5th she will be 29 and some months. How many, I won't tell, but I have two grandsons that are 20.

Objects in the mirror will get thinner than they now appear

Happy Easter
We make an Easter lamb cake. I have my mother-in-laís lamb mold cake pan and we make the cake every year.
Also mine and husbandís family make a stuffing with bread, eggs, pork, smoked butt and veal and the soup from the meat. It is 2 days project, cooking meat one day and assembling and baking on Holy Saturday. We eat it on Holy Saturday at 1200 noon when church bells ring (as thatís what grandmothers told us)

I think I saw the most convincing yesterday. It was in the 50s & the weatherman predicted 1-3 inches of snow for Easter. The prediction was first given on Friday & continued on Saturday. It's not unheard of here so we believed him. Today is a bright, sunny, upper 50s day.....so far.

Today is tough because itís both Easter & April Fools Day Ė total opposites of one another. So there will be two questions.

(1) Happy Easter! Does your family have any special Easter traditions? If so, would you care to share them with us?

(2) Today is April Foolís Day! Are you an April Foolís Day prankster? If so, what is your favorite prank to play on people? What is the most memorable prank that has been played on you or that youíve seen?
